Welp.. this is very biased. I can tell you I've had teams where we completely turn around the game because we decide to group mid and team fight. Its more about, what does our team comp do well, and what does theirs? Because if you are losing in lane phase to a comp that is highly pick oriented, then grouping as 5 to team fight is probably the best option.. Sooner than later.

Yeah this is completely situational and depends on your team comp.

More importantly in low elo, make sure your lanes are pushing before you teamfight. That way, even if you just stall and don't fight they have to split to defend towers and then you can win the fight. Especially if you setup zzrots or banner of command buffed waves. Ah, the power of strategy.

Its classic low elo to not control the lanes. How many times have you been in a game, eveyone is calling to group, and both top and bottom are pushing into your own towers. Even if you win the fight you have to rush off to save your own towers or even worse lose them. Facepalm.

Depends.

If you have a lot of isolation power and you fell behind, you especially don't want to Team Fight. However if you have an AOE CC Comp, team fighting more or less is the only option you have left if multiple members are lagging.
