the reason i stopped watching sports is because casters are shit, they don't know shit, they lie, they are biased towards teams, and ofc, lovely them barelly know anything.
If you'd spend 5 minutes on google, you could debunk half of their claims.
sometimes they make some claims (false), and then there's a reply totally contradicting them, and most of them, would not change their claims what so ever and keep running with the false narrative.
So, sry, no. Casters are quite often morons.
There are a few that study and understand the game, the vast majority doesn't.
Being part of the balance team in a game doesn't require you to know how to write code.
It doesn't require you to know psychology.
It doesn't require you to know marketing.
It doesn't require you to know how to use microsoft powerpoint.
It doesn't require you to have an arts degree.
It doesn't require you to be some artistic genius at developing new stuff for the game.
It requires you to have very good game knowledge, study and understand the game. And then have the communication skills to talk with: a) market team b) psychology team to decide upon the changes and finally c) software developing team to explain the changes that are needed to be implemented.
You can easily get into plat by playing easy champions (low amount of skill shots such as rammus, akali, annie, talon, maokai, nocturne, tristana, etc) while having a large amount of game knowledge.
So, yes. Its not an absurd requirement. Because that's the main thing you require for your job, to study and understand the game. That's what you need to balance shit out.
Ofc, if the market team goes: we will release a new ahri skin in 2 months, we should give her a minor buff. For example. That matters.
Or: players really hate this xxx champion, and it makes games more negative and toxic, we should nerf him a bit. For example, from the psychology team, then ofc, that also impacts your decision of balancing.
That's what balancing is: being able to talk and understanding what you talk about.
