People with 450-1000+ ping; Why are you queing?

I'm sure this is going to be downvoted; as it tends to happen whenever you comment on something game effecting. Nor am I trying to exclude people from the game itself.

The recommended ping for League is: 30-75 for no delay 75-160 for barely noticeable delay 160-250 for second delay

Anything higher then that on the other hand is only going to hurt your team in the same category as partial afking. I'm seeing a high trend lately of people hopping into games and going "I'm lagging... fk 600 ping" and then they stand by there tower (moving every three seconds or so). Worst case scenario they'll afk standing in the middle of the lane/followed by constant reconnects and disconnecting.

When you have a player who's unable to use any skill shots, be part of any group activity or even be functional enough to even lane; At what purpose do they provide for the team other then roaming around so they don't get leaver bustered?

I know most shooting games won't let you connect to a server if your ping is to high, so why does League allow players with 500 plus ping too? If a game is lost because a player is unable to functionally play - that player is unaffected... yet if they did the same thing under a different pretense they'd be banned?

It's insanely unfair to have four people punished because of one players connection.

most cases if it happens, it will only last a few seconds at best.

also most people don't know when their ping is high until it's actually happening

It can often go like this:

In a normal, stable environment during all 3 games...

Game 1: perfectly normal. Game 2: all the way up to 3 minutes in, ping spiked to consistent 400+, and then fluctuates all game. Game 3: perfectly normal. Game 4: perfectly normal.

A typical person would think this is fine, which is why they Q up for games. And you know, shit happens.

Pings and the like doesn't really have much to do with graphics and frame rate. It's the response time that "lags" the game and makes things rather unplayable at times.

And as far as basic requirements for video goes, you can pretty much get a standard economy-grade PC and run League perfectly fine.

If you think any teenager or legal adult would be satisfied with a pc from 9 years ago you are sorely mistaken.

That's XP era for fucks sake. You can get a cheap upgrade to that shit for like less than 100 bucks from any pawn store or walmart or anywhere really, and run league perfectly fine. I bet the amount of people who play on PCs that old aren't even a marginable percentage of all the players in the world.

Fududles1 votes

Definitely not mistaken because i was that dude using an old dell i bout in 2006 i dont remember the exact specs... with only 1 gb ram and that thing was trash

My games were so laggy after the major update in season 5 i gave up playing till i got a new one

So ya there's definitely people still playing on way outdated equipment #xD

Sure, SOME people are bound to play with PCs that bad, but the most common playerbase (16 to 20 somethings) would never be satisfied with a pc like that, they are probably on at least win 7 or a mac. Anyone who is using PCs that old are a part of a very stark minority, it's such a low percentage that it rounds down to essentially zero.

WoonStruck1 votes

Seriously, you can find someone who's getting a new one and just throwing out their 'trash' PC and get specs much better than what League would demand.

Athenes Lulu1 votes

I remember I used to play League on Windows XP before I got myself a new Win 8 PC, which is just some super economy grade PC with your super standard 4GB RAM.

It took nearly 5 minutes to load a single game, shit wasn't pretty.

Jesus; my tablet even has 2 GB Ram.

Probably because they didn't know they would have that high ping. For whatever reason, their internet isn't working optimally. When you aren't on a wired connection, various factors can cause you ping to spike unexpectedly. If they always had that high ping, they probably wouldn't play since the game is unplayable then. You just have to deal with it and not get mad if they have to dc to restart their router and fix their internet.

I understand that it happens, but in a lot of cases it still causes a loss for your team - at their expense.

If someone doesn't connect to a match due to internet issues they get leaver busted, but if they connect and are unable to play - nothing happens. The end result is the same either way, your solely causing a loss for four people.

If this happens in ranked not only do you loose 20-30 minutes for that game; but also another game to make up for what you just lost.

This is why its a grey area for Riot. Also by your logic, It would be my fault that my team loses if a car hits the powerlines out side my house and knocks out the power. See what I'm getting at here? Some things are unpredictable.

Unpredictable yes, but when your DC'd and get leaver busted for that power outage - try using that as an excuse of why. Chances are you still will be punished for it.

That was my point; that anything under the same pretense is punishable, but not that.

I agree with everything but... I don't think you understand ping... 250 is not a second delay... it's 1/4 of a second delay....

Resolution1 votes

I have 30 ping; always have. Wasn't 100% on that, as I was going off what people told me it was like. I've always had too good of a connection to see a difference.

SrbLud1 votes

It's cool. I'll take a guess you don't use the metric system. ms stands for millisecond. milli is 1/1000 1000ms=1 second 250ms=0.250 seconds=1/4 of a second

starting sometime during season 6 i have randomly getting ping spikes for a few min at a time once or twice a week, 95% if the time i have a flat 66ms ping, and season 3-5 it was a flat 66 ping 100% if the time. yet for some reason in some games for no apparent reason.. my ping spikes, for 2-15 min.. then goes back to normal like nothing happened. i have no ideas what causes it. sometime it happens once for 2 min during a game and then not again for 2 weeks.. sometimes it happens for 15 min every for 4 games in row.

i NEVER used to do this after i hit lvl 30 ... but now i always get my first win of the day vs bots... just to check to make sure my ping is good. not that that is even a guarantee, i had it working perfectly for a bot game and then 4 more game then randomly ping spike for 3 min then it goes away like nothing happened.. so who knows.

I dont understand why americans play with wifi so much its awful for online gaming. There should be harsher punishments on afk's because its 99% of the users fault. "power went out sorry" is one debated but uh says the guy playing in a severe storm.

I wonder if it's problems with peoples routers. I play with wifi and I've never had connection issues.

Genuwhine362 votes

mabye, internet in america is actually pretty poor to be fair. But personally i play with wired and have hardly had problems. Sure ive had 30 more ping so games or whatever but that doesnt actually effect me and then I try to resolve it after game. I just dont get how people constantly dc.

Sylvant1 votes

i dont often see players with high ping or disconnecting. From my personal experience, connection problems appear randomly and unexpectedly, no sane person would queue when he knows for certain his ping is high or whatsoever

vampirekid131 votes

i get about 190 ping to EUW servers.

i play on NA with 400+ ping.

i dont queue up for ranked because i dont want people to lose because of my ping. i mainly play aram and bots, and i constantly have higher than 300 ping.

i queue up because my ping is something that is unsolvable and i refuse to let it control my gaming habbits.
