Kennen; An Energy Dump Suggestion

Stacona··1 votes·787 views

The idea I am about to propose is a weird one, similar to an Akali change awhile back, where we give energy champions more strategic depth in managing their energy pools in the later stages of the game. So this means my idea will not necessarily be considered a buff at all, but it definitely is not a nerf either.

Thundering Shuriken (Q): Cooldown: Lower to 8/6.25/4.5/2.75/1 from 8/7/6/5/4 seconds

So before anyone goes "OP, OP!!! 1 second cooldown on Kennen's Q!" you need to remember that Kennen is an energy champion with an energy pool of 200 (as other energy champions do). So all this change does is allow for some strategic depth to decide between wanting to dump your energy on Q spam OR just use one Q and have the energy for a spell combo of E and W as well. So despite being a "cooldown buff" this change is not actually a buff to Kennen at all because of being energy restricted but rather it adds some complexities and different strategies to his kit without changing anything on how you like to play your Kennen now, but simply opens up a whole new world you can explore while keeping the old ways on top of everything.

Except you have a 3 hit stun attached to his Q. On a 1 second cd. And I'm a Kennen main... This wouldn't work for Kennen.

In the end, this would end up being more of a buff than a nerf to anyone with a brain. Plus it ramps up Kennen's poke game a lot.

It emphasizes the wrong part of his kit imo.

except his Q is like 925 units, so it isnt that long so he makes a shtty poke champion, plus if he spams his q that means he cannot run away with his E --- but adding the strategic depth and more gameplay options i think is a good thing, it doesnt change anything about him currently, but will just add more to what he can do and how he can be played

So it is weird when you come and complain about more diverse playstyles on Kennen and more customization on how you can play him;

Again, it is only a change for Kennen, it is neither a buff nor nerf, it can be a buff in certain areas and a nerf in others - so if you use it mindlessly and then wonder why you can never use W and E then it is a nerf, use it sparingly as if it has the old cooldown still then there is no change, and can be a buff in terms of trying to burn down a tank at a distance with 4 Qs in quick succession rather than using your other spells for a spell combo and can be a late game buff in that aspect... but kennen is a mid range to short range champion which means he can never be a poke champion, and if you do not have the energy to use your high cost E then you can place yourself at high risk right there especially if you didnt even land your Qs

If you ever played Bravely Default, adding a energy dump mechanic is basically the brave mechanic where you can choose to play normally or you can choose to do a bunch of things within a short time and then wait longer before you can strike again

also i did the change with his Q because the skill shot aspect has the best counter play to it, W is guaranteed damage, and E would make him too mobile with 2 Es in quick succession... but it does not emphasize anything since his current playstyle is unchanged and all it does it allows more options to what he can do

It allows him to put out damage more quickly and get his stun to trigger more easily and faster, this only improves the champion, that's what you call a buff.

It has no negative side effects for the champion what-so-ever, its a pure, clean buff.

the negative is he cannot use his other spells because out of energy, and he can trigger his stun easily now anyways

sigh That is not a negative, that is simply the cost of doing business.

Stac, I knew you were stupid, but this is a whole new level.

This is nothing but a buff.

I am a kennen main this would be a silly buff because of how easily he could get a stun
