You know, these buffer changes are making me think

Rengar's combo was made more consistent. Kha's combo was made more consistent. Alistar's combo was made more consistent. (And he got nerfed for it)

When are they going to give the same treatment to Riven? There's nothing wrong with consistency, after all.

Because only the asshole champions get to go unscathed.

Because we have champs like Singed that cause Riven nightmares.

Well technically, the consistency change, and nerf happened at the same time with Alistar. And they target two different aspects. While his headbutt-pulverize combo was made more constant, the nerf targeted his heal. Which has some pretty strong synergy with Windspeakers. (Giving your entire team a defense boost.)

If that's true, how come Sona has been left unaffected?

I didn't see any Alistars use Windspeaker's Blessing, btw.

It's a popular tactic in the LCS. Not only are you increasing their heals, but wind speakers also gives his team a defense boost.

And that becomes really problematic when it comes from someone who isn't a glass cannon.

They probably aren't. The situations are different. All of these champions were changed so that casting an ability during the movement of a dash would queue that ability up for the end of the dash. I don't see how a similar change would affect Riven.

Alistar's [W] is a dash. His success with his combo depends on whether or not he can fit in that [Q] after the dash.

Riven's [Q] is a dash. Her success with her combo depends on whether or not she can animation-cancel that [Q] and fit in an auto.

You see the similarity here? Why streamline other champions for the sake of consistency but leave the unintentional mechanic that makes balancing another a nightmare?

I do not. There is no similarity here except for the fact that they are both dashes.

Ok, let's try this again:

Alistar's skill indexed combo was being capable of using his [Q] immediately after his [W]. They made it buffered so it isn't skill-indexed anymore. They did this because they wanted what was inconsistent about him to be more consistent.

Riven's skill-indexed combo is being capable of canceling her [Q] animations with auto-attacks. If Riot is willing to make other dependent combos more consistent despite them already being mechanically possible, they should do the same with Riven.

I see now. I thought you were suggesting removing the equivalent of animation casting, forcing her to finish the animation. What you are saying makes sense now. Most threads like suggest removing the ability to attack between abilities without finishing the animation. I assumed this one was too. I still believe that it is a different situation, although cannot find the words to explain it despite 15 minutes thinking. Bugger. That normally means that I am wrong.

On a slightly different note, very few Alistar's or Kha's considered the fun of playing their champion to be linked to timing those abilities correctly. A large number of Riven players do.

And a large number of people in general hate Riven because of it. If a Riven doesn't know how to do it, she's worthless. If she does, her damage output skyrockets and the nature of the combo gives little to no time for retaliation.

This is fine, all I'm asking for is that she is treated equally so she can do it consistently - and not because of a pseudo-bug with her kit.

Only if they nerf her. Because the only reason her win ratio doesn't sky rocket is because people with only few games with her suck balls , because they think they will pick her and get insta free elo. And this only happens after something like 5 games
