Dark souls. It won't improve your KDA. But it's Fair

I've heard nothing but horror stories about how Dark Souls is unfairly hard and will make you rage like you've never raged before.

I play video games to have fun. Hence me leaving League of Legends in its current state. (Its not fun.)

TBH, to me, only Bard is fun. Good kit, hits like a truck if you really want him to, is actually a fair version of Nasus on stacking power. Can actually be game changing or if behind and knows what they're doing, good bait. So many champs can insta-burstm which isn't fun and kinda kills it for me that much more champs can insta-burst the longer this game continues. For example: Kha-zix isn't fairly balanced but not broken. Though, the second you all reach 13 and he smashes buttons "Correctly" on your squishy mid-laner while on stroll, you are screwed. Instant no reaction kills are fun, I get that's what assassins do but even Zed has a "Oh you got to wait and this happens" or a "If you use this wrong, you are screwed-moment." Zoe's insta-burst late game is just stupidly funny when E flies through the wall without really having sight of it and kills you with q.

Dark souls has a learning curve and plateau 's in difficulty

Thing is i'm currently playing DS3 and DS2 it is a lot of fun, it's challenging but in many many situations it is not challenging because interesting mechanics but plain unfair bullshit. Dodging attacks and still getting hit which is pretty much fatal and you die. Monster with grab animations you avoid and you still clip into their hand and die. You yourself have so much restrictions in stamina, weight etc. meanwhile some enemy knight throws around a two hander in one hand as if he is wielding a knive with no stamina whatsoever. Obviously he has combo patterns you learn and know to abuse but some really really feel unfair and bullshit. Oh permastagger is also a problem especially by mob groups of dogs or rats.

Let me tell you: i'm someone who actually rages a lot because of unfair mechanics or bullshit that triggers me like it happens a lot in league lately but i can confidently say it's really really rare for me to rage in dark souls. I also thought i would immediately put it away because of all the shit people tell about it but i never did. 70 hours in DS3 for my first playthrough. Beautiful scenery, amazing lore, tons of different weapons and armors and customization. Tons of different monsters, it never gets old you always get new enemies, it never feels like a chore to do like a lot of RPGs do with "kill 100 of xy" and you always continue to run into xy. I can only recommend it IF what i wrote above doesn't bother you when that happens from time to time. I killed every boss in this game without help except the last one because i havent fought him yet. It is doable and i'm by no means some git gud hardcore type of guy. Multiplayer also seems a lot of fun. I've helped a few strangers killing bosses, i'm a watchdog and get summoned if someone is threatened in my woods (an RPG that actually lets you R P G) by other players.

Currently on sale for 15€ (dunno dollar price, sorry) instead of 60 the best price if you think about picking it up, if you are actually interested but uncertain just ask away.

Battlerite is fun in bursts, but I find it extremely tilting since it's so mechanical. Since LOL is drawn out over longer periods I don't get that salty playing it, while BR is in constant short bursts so I constantly get hit with bitterness. I get a similar reaction from Overwatch.

if you have a switch.. both Celda: BOTW and Wiafublade 2, err um.. Xenoblade 2 are AMAZING

Monster Hunter

It's a fun and challenging franchise with a ton of replay value. There's a new one coming out next year for PC. FFXIV is pretty decent for a MMO. If you're just looking for another RTS there's always DOTA.

Concerning LoL, I don't think there will be any large scale positive changes unless someone else buys and takes over the game. It's finally taking the nose dive in quality that happens to just about every F2P game.

SuperCosmicHobo1 votes

Ummm you could try DOTA 2, Warframe, Gwent, or just look on steam for top free games. :\ Tbh if you are into fps or card games.

FPS isn't really my scene, and if I picked up Dota, I'd want to play with someone that can teach me. Nobody I know plays that game.

I played warframe back in beta, and it was neat but not really my thing. I've heard mixed reviews about Gwent.

Ya know, I'd really love to play something like Final Fantasy Tactics except like... PVP. I wonder if there's anything like that with a decent player base?

SuperCosmicHobo1 votes

Hmmm lol you ain't gonna get much from free games. You will mostly hear bad things about them all. You'll never find a "Legit" game unless you say it is. You eventually will have to make your own opinion of the game. I never really seen a free to play like FFT pvp anywhere.

Barkley1 votes

even if its not F2P, I'd love to see a game like FFT pvp. You know of one?

SuperCosmicHobo1 votes

I have not stumbled on any games such as, or I would've suggested lol.

warframe is waaaay different now, I have it on XBOX and wish i could port it to my computer, cause I'd play it more if I could

Warframe is my go to alternate game. You mentioned you played Warframe in beta, and that was a very long time ago. The game is honestly super fun and really rewarding in the power fantasy. They have improved basically everything since I started playing two years ago or so, and even then it's only being improved. The game is a grind yeah but the grind is what keeps it fun. You spend three days working on a piece of gear, and while it takes three days to make you build two weapons for it so when you finish it you have a new class and two new weapons. It's got pay for convenience things in it but much like League anything that involves gameplay can be earned by just playing long enough.

Have you tried tf2? Its free but basically 99 cents so you can not be limited as hell but its not like a normal fps game the time it takes to master small things makes it feel rewarding( rocket jumping for example) and i can give you some items if your interested

I installed dota2 as per someone else's suggestion, and now I've been sitting in an all pick unranked queue for like 10 minutes.

Does nobody play this game? I thought this game had a massive following...

Brawlhalla maybe. It's basically Super Smash Bros. and LoL in one. It's free on steam and I play it sometimes when I'm bored.

Ever tried Smite? It's a 3rd person moba (really similar to lol in map and structure ) where the champions are various cultures gods. It's free to play and even has some of the minor cosmetic stuff (our chromas and 520 skins basically) buyable with in-game currency. I find it really hard but also more fair since everything can be missed/dodged (even autos..) and immobile champions really get rewarded with loads of damage or tankyness while the mobile ones are typically unable to one-shot someone unless MASSIVELY fed. The negative is the playerbase is not really big so matchmaking is not that good and the queues are a little long (but at least on EU manageable). Turrets are a real minace early game and even minions can murder you if you go into them. Even later fucking up a dive means the death of your carry . There's a really well fornited shop that allows glass cannon builds but even bruiserish ones even on carries, and scaling ones . You get a number of gods for free on top of the normal free rotation and there is a first win for every mode of the game (there are a lot of maps on top of the classic one comparable to our SR which is "conquest")

Good lord that game is worse than lol currently

LightIsMyPath1 votes

Really? I missed some patches what happened? (I'm not at home these days and while my laptop manages lol it just dies on smite's graphic). Last one I played was the one where tank itemization had been nerfed along with ADC's one and mage early (like polynomicon ) one. It felt pretty balanced aside a little too heavy Nerf to heals and Change/Hel doing too much damage to compensate and maybe some other mages pumping out little too much damage but nothing too catastrophic like here when everyone gets one-comboed.

Death by Glamour1 votes

Greedy company more focused on selling loot boxes with crappy skins rather than balancing their game.

Match making is nothing short of diabolical

Balance is non existent

Server stability is ok on pc but stay off the consols.

Lets not talk about the consol playerbase...

Entropia Universe, you can actually convert the ingame money into real money. I will take 4-6 months before you start making enough ingame to convert to real cash but hey, you can make money by playing a video game.

Brawlhalla and Path of Exile are 2 free to play games I'd recommend.

Otherwise if you can spend a few dollar I'd recommend Age of Empires 2 currently in steam sale too quite old, but still one of the best strategy games out there.

If you do want to stay with moba, you should check out smite.

If you're into adventure/puzzle games I'd recommend OneShot. I've never had a game get me so attached in such a small timeframe before. It's on sale for $6 on Steam atm.
