AP/HP Items are too Strong
Now, before you instantly downvote the thread just because you like playing mages, let's actually consider how healthy these things are for the game. There is nothing to stop mages from building 2 or 3 items that give ap and health, and each item offers way too much.
Rylais is the biggest problem here. Not only does it give 400 health, but also 100 ap. I don't understand why riot hasn't fixed this because rylais is built on every single mage and it makes them impossible to fight against. Before you guys say anything about me just wanting it nerfed so i can kill mages, I play velkoz and nidalee. Velkoz is one of my favorite champions in this game, and not only is he too strong, but the items he builds are too strong.
Why is rylais a problem? Too much health. Too much ap. Too much utility. It is absolutely ridiculous that a mage can build rylais and get these kind of stats. I understand that rylais is a bit more expensive than other items, but it's one item that offers way to much. For all the slows and health that it gives, it needs to provide less ap. less ap and health. Ludens echo and Morello also give 100 ap and these are straight glass cannon burst type items, but rylais gives them that and 400 health on top of slows? I'm not saying nerf the slows or anything, just saying that the amount of ap and health it gives is ridiculous.
Some of you are probably thinking "what caused this" and honestly for me it's been a series of winning lane against midlane mages and then losing because they can burst down entire teams by themselves and not die because of how much health they have. I don't know if nerfing the items is all that we need but annie, sol, and brand are huge problems because you can't kill them while they're killing your entire team. As much as i hate syndra, at least she's single target damage. For a mage to have the ability to cc groups of people while killing most of them in seconds is just too much. And whenever I play assassins I just get to watch it all happen because I can't get in on a mage most of the time, but when I do it's over for me because my combo didnt kill them and their entire team is focusing me now.
Mages shouldnt be squishy like adcs and assassins, but they also shouldnt have as much health as tanks.
you don't have CDR, magic pen, or mana regen. If you go
then you need health and magic pen. If you go
then you need CDR and mana regen.
Mage items have actual trade offs, yes
takes 10 minutes to stack. when it's first bought it literally only has an 80% gold efficiency.
