I think most of the community wants longer games and not this shit

Unlucky47··93 votes·3,319 views

This game isn't any fun anymore. Almost every game ends at 10 minutes and then you have to wait twice as long to surrender. And then on top of that you get the assholes like my last game where the game went on for 30 minutes because only 2 people didn't want to surrender. Its dumb as fuck

most of the community will want shorter games again if we get longer games again

twochain211 votes

Games used to be a lot longer and everyone complained.

3TWarrior17 votes

no, back then the complaint was that the nexus and its towers were strong enough to withstand an onslought and the opposing team could revive. Not necessarily to come back, but to make the game longer

then riot changed every tower in the game for no reason

then riot fixed the revival system so that it takes too long to revive and your base can be destroyed from the second tower

then riot implemented juggernauts and decreased the value of squishy characters.

then to appeal to squishy characters, riot made the towers vulnerable to AP users

and finally, we're pretty much where we are

WoonStruck6 votes

Riot has never decreased the value of squishy characters. They emphasize their value any time they can to an almost bullshit degree.

I guaranteed mid-season or next pre-season they'll drastically over-buff ADCs if things keep going the way they are.

Not only that, but towers have ALWAYS been vulnerable to AP users.

3TWarrior6 votes

really? they made a 6 month dedication to the "marksman update" and only worked on about 3 characters, leaving the rest undertuned in comparison

if I remember correctly, the characters were: Corki, quinn, kogmaw and idk who else.

they promised the marksman update would shift variety into marksman builds: 2 seasons later, we're still using the same stuff

the sad thing is, corki and kogmaw were probably the ADCs who needed updates the least...

Am I the only one constantly getting 45 minute games because my team doesn't give up after losing first turret?

P4stry7 votes

Nope, I usually get 45+ minutes if we're losing because I'm stubborn and don't surrender and, though we only come back like 1/3 of the time in these rounds, it's still fun to almost come back and win :). (my favorite rounds are when we are 15,000 gold behind but the game has stretched to an hour and the enemy makes one mistake, and we somehow push our way to victory)

EMPURE2 votes

I can agree with Tails, but I also agree with you. Not surrendering is where you tend to learn a lot about your character and learn to use them in pressured situations.

Been playing for 6 years and almost never saw people complaining about games being too long so I'm gonna call BS on that argument.

Remember the days where 30 min games were standard

AninLegions7775 votes

Many comments are taking this out of context. iirc, games in s3/s4 lasted for 30-40 mins and they were super fun because you had teamfights and little skirmishes here and there. I used to run revive tp to get back to lane instantly and even when I took flash instead of revive, towers couldn't be taken so quickly. You guys say it's not bad to get objectives and I agree but what I don't agree with is that you lose so much that you can't get back from it. Let's look at the disadvantages of losing turrets:

  • Less vision
  • Less protection
  • Less waveclear

And let's not forget Riot already gave the following advantages to the winning team:

  • Higher enemy death timers
  • Elemental Dragon buffs
  • More xp
  • Bonus fb turret gold

Riot just needs to buff turrets, remove red buff/true damage, AP scaling AA damage to turrets and that'll balance the game out .

Rewt4 votes

short games means someone just shit all over you lol. its not the game its the players. most of my games are 25-40 min long because 1 lane of each team does badly and one lane goes even. it balances out and the match plays out fine.

An Undead brat4 votes

I think we're at the matchmaking problem here, if I exclude me myself, because that would be desilusional, 99% of the time all my lanes lose or win, I don't remember an even lane which wasn't mine and even those are VERY rare and many players have the same experience.

YOLO420SWAGSCOPE4 votes

most of the community? how do you know that? there are millions of league players all over the world...how could you possibly know what those millions of players want? If you think the majority of people who goes on the boards as "most of the community" that's laughable

grug4 votes

This is some retarded logic that I'd probably expect from unseasoned veterans of the game, do people really want LONGER games where ADC's and even mages scale to the point they can 2 shot regulars and 4 shot tanks?

league of legends isn't some game where you have an epic anime battle final showdown where everyone is full 6 items and shooting lasers from their finger tips.

The game originated from the REAL TIME STRATEGY genre, thus expect REAL TIME STRATEGY.

etc. counter picks, champion select swapping, summoner spell selection, lane pressure, map pressure, vision control, objective management, trade-offs, skirmishes, resource/creep management, time based scaling, LOSSES/GAINS and many more.

in the end, the ultimate goal was victory and we achieved it because we outperformed our enemies on these fronts.

improvise, adapt and overcome.

ZT Xperimentor2 votes

Yeah, explain how you you're going to improvise & adapt in real time, when you only have 2 seconds before dying from full health.

GigaPube4 votes

we dont want longer games, we want it to be harder to snowball out of control

Ad Vitam Aeterna2 votes

Yet when it was harder to snowball out of control we got nonstop posts saying people can't solo carry anymore. There is no pleasing people

Matake3 votes

Everything you said was conflicted.

"Community wants longer games" =/= "Teammates won't surrender"

Shorter surrender times =/= longer game times

"almost every game ends at 10 minutes" =/= "this game isn't any fun anymore"

KiritoErenMikasa3 votes

Right, you cant even get your six items anymore before the games over.

Golden Tager X2 votes

The thing about league that riot has realized, is that no matter how much you hate the game right now, you just cannot stop playing it.

Mechakaiser2 votes

Well, I don't dare if games are long or short, I simply enjoy the game, but as we can see in this post the community is split, some want less snowball, others dont, since It is imposible for Riot to please everyone, I think they should keep a balance, Season 5 AND 6 were super slow paced, I think it's time to have short games.

Skins Project2 votes

I think most the community isn't riot. I also think that riot gets the final word here.

Like seriously? You know that the people on boards are the minority, and in general most are in 3 categories A)Memes & Games B)Nerfs/Buffs (50% rage based) C)People like you who think they honestly matter, (like plz ur not riot)

Rewt2 votes

Im against this thread but it doesnt mean you arnt an idiot. "you arnt riot" fuck off. we are consumers and have the right to voice our opinion on a product that a lot of us have put money into.

Posts like yours are fucking retarded. its like saying. "shit man there is a lot of asbestos in these building materials in my house, my children will probably get cancer" and then you jump in saying "REEEE you cant say anything because you arnt the construction company autistic screeching reeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

Skins Project1 votes

*aren't

Also I'm not saying fuck off I'm saying that the post is assuming a majority of the community agrees while only having a small percentage, and a rather outspoken percentage at that.

Honestly, if you disagree with my post I'm fine with that. All I'm saying is, face reality. It isn't that simple. If I ask 10 yasuo mains if yasuo is balanced ofc the opinions going to be different then if I ask 1000 random players.

Also the house would be different being that you would have OWNERSHIP over your house and the options are the same. A)Leave B)Deal with it And C) because it is your own property GET IT FIXED What my post is saying is that you DON'T have option C because YOU DON'T OWN THE GAME.

If you're going to correct yourself at least try to get it right the second time.

MFTORANK12 votes

I think you guys missed his point, games still last 30-45 minutes but the outcome is decided around the 7-10 minutes mark (usually after the first bot lane clown fiesta). I'm okay with that as long as Riot give us the opportunity to surrender at 15.

Aptest2 votes

otoh i do not want to see:

vayne in late game jax in late game nassus in late game veigar in late game Cassiopeia in late game. tryndamare in the late game

all these guys have a disgusting late game that is outright not fun to go with or against the only redeeming quality of these champions is that their late game doesn't come in more than half the games otherwith their me>you pattern is horrible to play with/against.

Avarosa Guide Me1 votes

From leagueofgraphs.com when you view match length it comes out that after patch 6.23 games have on average been arround 5-10 minutes longer than previous patches, so in reality, games have become longer.

Lauchmelder5 votes

There's a difference though. Games are decided way earlier than ever, but teams are too stupid/kill greedy to actually finish the game.

Unlucky471 votes

You see I would discuss game length with the ones that believe "more people want shorter games" but if that's the case than my thread wouldn't be on the hot page and would theoretically have more downvotes than upvotes. People are saying most of the boards members complained about longer games but here we are with 62 upvotes. Not trying to be rude just saying the numbers don't add up.

Rewt3 votes

A lot of players started in Season 5-6 which was ETERNAL TANK META. it was fucking aids to anyone who started before that. Im actually happy that the tank meta is over. 50min long wet noodle fights are retarded. League's match lengths are great atm. its a nice in between of season 2s 20 min games and season 5-6s 50 min games. its a nice 35min average atm. And a lot of the active board members started during that time.

Why you may ask. well this is because 2 years of cancer kills a lot of existing players

Lauchmelder3 votes

You are semi correct. The gametime is right, what's so frustrating is that games aren't decided at min 35 but more or less @ minute 10-15 with the rest being just a pointless struggle to MAYBE get to full build and outscale the enemy.

That's the major problem. Whoever gets a lead first snowballs into oblivion, making the current gamestyle boring, short and frustrating.

Rewt2 votes

i havent really experienced this at all. most of my games i notice that one team has a lead at 15 min (like 5-10 kills) but i come back from those fairly often and win them. I dont know what you are considering "decided" but i look at it this way.

Do they have our inhib/Inhib tower by 15min. If no, then we still have a chance.

Lauchmelder2 votes

Maybe it's different in NA. Basically bot gets raped by some jungler. They go 0/6/0, meanwhile your 6/0/0 bot + jungle take bot tower, dragon, gank mid and get that tower.

Then they gangbang top for that tower and you got a lead of several thousand gold. If they continue doing that the other team is screwed.

Rewt3 votes

Then your jungler isnt doing his job. if the enemy jungler ganks bot then he should be ganking mid/top. and then after that he should rotate bot and get the bot lane back to even. If that isnt gonna happen with just the jungler he should call upon the mid to roam and help. If they arnt doing this then they are bad team and its not Riots fault. its the players.

Lauchmelder3 votes

It is Riots fault. It only happens due to some dragons being way too good as well as bot being the weakest tower AND first tower blood.

Without those 3 factors it would at least take a while.

Lucky you. I happen to agree with the OP. Most games are decided by the 10 minute mark. The rest of time is usually spent flaming the feeders who in turn blame the jungler while two people insist they could still win and keep refusing to surrender.

I do not understand how people cannot see that having a 7-1 Irelia, a 4-2 Lee-Sin and a 10-0 Vayne on the enemy team in less than 20 minutes is a sure loss. It infuriates the fuck out of me that they never want to surrender. I find myself going AFK a lot this season because of this.

Rewt1 votes

If you are going afk you get low priority and you not only get timers before you can get into games, but it puts a flag on your account and the game will try and match you with other players with the flag so that you dont affect other players. If you have been doing this a lot then you might just be getting paired with other flagged players. It could be a big reason for your poor experience

Actually only in the most dire and frustrating of circumstances would I straight up AFK. But most times, I'd just move back and forth at the fountain while watching my team feed hopelessly. Sometimes, I'd just push a lane and then sit in a bush and watch. Point is, I can afk without getting punished.

Rewt1 votes

They can report that as AFK and if they put what you were doing in the description then system can recognize commonly used words under that report section that come out to you chillaxin in base. So the system flags you anyway.

It should have happen already. I have done this at least 2 dozen times this season and nothing happened. The truth is, it is impossible to verify. And as far as I understand, Riot won't punish players unless it is certain they committed an offense. The only real way to verify that I was dicking around would be to watch the replay. However this poses a problem. At any one point in time there are thousands of games being played and I'd wager 90% of them have been flagged by reports of one kind or another for the most trivial of reasons, most of which are invalid. Do you think someone is sitting there sifting through hundreds of thousands of replays to verify the behavior of players in each one ? Even if they had an entire department of say, 50 employees devoted to this, it would still take a very very long time to get through all the games that are played on a daily basis, and we haven't begun talking about different servers yet.

Rewt1 votes

as ive said they have an automated system that takes the report and and the message that someone writes inside. It can take that and if you have been reported for the same thing with a similar string of characters in the box then it will enact punishment. Automated systems are getting smarter than you would think.

There was a time in season 5 and early season 6 when I began to truly understand the power of splitpushing and like any human that discovers something new, I was over eager. I would splitpush the hell out of a lane regardless of what was happening elsewhere. I had been reported as afk a number of times by many teams for this. I didn't do it to be a dick, I was just a dumb noob that didn't understand that there is a time and place for certain tactics. If the system worked as you say, it would have punished me and other people unjustly.

You see, this community is one of the most toxic online communities to exist online. Players report other players falsely all the time as a way to vent their frustrations over losing a game. I believe Riot Games is aware of this kind of behavior. Such a harsh automated system cannot be used in this community since it requires trust that players wouldn't falsely report other players. Even I've falsely reported people as intentional feeders when I know in my heart that they were just brainless dipshits that were outclassed by a better player. Do you think people should be punished for being bad at the game ? I don't think Riot does.

Rewt1 votes

its not harsh. but as you have said you do it alot and it leads to it flagging you. you dont always see a notification saying you have been punished because it just preferentially ques you with other people with the flag.

Where did Riot Games state that it does that ? And besides that, what is even the point of queuing people who have this so called flag with each other ? I cannot see how that could be considered any kind of punishment.

"But what if turrets... respawned?"

Who is Taliyah1 votes

Games would last much longer if turrets respawned, much longer than you would ever wanted. Imagine turrets respawned like inhibitors, each team would have to constantly push the same lane, because a splitpusher might not be fast enough to push the entire lane against an opponent when the turrets respawn.
