What is the minimum league players should be able to reach, if they work for it.
Is every LoL capable of reach silver, gold, even platinum, or as far as diamond? Or are some players doomed to fail no matter how many games they play?

"Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right"
It's all just attitude and mindset. Everyone has the ability.
depends if youve been dropped on the head as a child. in that case you probably wont make it out of bronze or silver.
If you believe that everyone is equal, they sure, whatever, any player can potentially reach the pinnacle
The reality is, no one is equal. Average players will reach plat level if they are dedicated. At least that's what I feel like.

I agree for the most part. Not everyone is created equal and everyone will have their cap that they will struggle to get past. Large parts of this have to do with how often you play and how much you invest into getting better. On the other side of your statement, I don't think the average is plat, considering around 72% of the player base is settled into bronze and silver. This would suggest that anything above silver is above average.

The question was, if people actually try.
Personally, I dont think majority of players are actually really dedicated. I've played this game for years and I've only one decided to be dedicate and it took me like 15 games to go from S5 to G1. Most of my friends don't care what rank they are in as long as it's fun. I think majority of players are like that
They really aught to split the bottom up into another division to make the distribution a better curve.
They really aught to split the bottom up into another division to make the distribution a better curve.
They tried that by adding masters. Theoretically, it should have pushed some silvers into gold and some Bronze to Silver
Problem is, most players are just the bottom 2
ehhh, 200 people off the top doesn't adjust the curve at all.
bronze/silver should be three divisions instead of two.
You are correct, putting 200 or so people into a new bin at the top will do nothing for the bins at the bottom.
Often the most variance in a data set is at the tails (the extremes of the data set). The way the divisions should work is to separate these extremes into their own groups so they do not adversely influence the experience of others playing the game. Riot does this well for the top levels of skill in the game. It fails miserably at the bottom.
What this means is that we would want bronze to have approximately 15 divisions. The first 10 divisions would have large bonuses to win streaks so that people who win consistently enough (the people who likely can hold their own against people in silver) will rise to the last 5 divisions of bronze. Those last 5 divisions of bronze will be the ones that can get mixed into silver games. Right now someone in B5 can technically be placed into a game with someone who is S4. This represents a skill difference covering up to 54% of the entire player base. Or to put it another way, it roughly the same difference in player "ranking" as sticking a masters player in games with someone who is Silver 4 (something we can all agree should never happen).

I never understood the logic of adding in another top tier when it will only subdivide the high levels, as the lower level players have the glut.
There wasn't any logic involved in that decision. It came from a very poor understanding of how bell curves represent data and how to appropriately construct bins so that your bell curves actually look like bells.
That's not why Masters was created. It was created to draw attention to a larger number of very good players.
Problem is that there is too much disparity in skill within single divisions at low ranks. In theory a B5 player can play a game with a S4 player. However, this represents roughly a 50% difference in player skill relative to the entire population that plays league. If you think its unfair to stick diamond players in silver games (roughly a 50% difference in skill relative to the the size of the player base) than we should similarly consider it unfair to stick people In low bronze into games with low silver.
This is currently not the case.
For some reason, there is the popular idea that there is very little skill variation between Bronze and Silver players. However, anyone that has been in silver long enough can easily recall how many of their games were lost because a completely unskilled bronze player had no chance against their silver counterpart.
Bronze needs to have 15 divisions where the first 10 divisions get large mmr bonuses to win streaks. The bad players will be bad and drop to the bottom 10 divisions. The players who can probably hold their own will float to the top 5 divisons of bronze. Those top 5 divisions in bronze will be the ones that end up mixed into silver games.

Meanwhile, the supports need to be both good and have good ADCs to move up.
That said, fixing up some of the hitbox-visual discrepancies would probably make it easier for players to move up.
I remember playing CoD1 for years on the same server. One interesting thing I noted over the years: some players that bad/mediocre improved greatly, some by a modest amount, and some not a damn bit. The difference? I honestly don't know for sure. But I suspect it has less to do w/ believing you can improve and more to do with the player's mindset. If they took their failures to be learning opportunities, they would eventually improve, some faster than others. If they either didn't care, or didn't accept that they had failed, then they would remain at the skill level they were at.
So, if the player is serious about improving, and if they have the right mindset to learn from playing the game. Yes 'the sky's the limit' so to speak. If not, they're probably not going anywhere anytime soon.
