Do NOT use your Lantern as a Shield when your Jungles is waiting in the wings with all of his abilities off cooldown waiting for the Lantern so he can gank.

PSA for this tool: I just lost promos because some tool got engaged on and thresh lantern'ed at his feet instead of to the 4/0 Vi with Ult up.

lets be honest here no one actually uses thresh's lantern the only person who ever use my lantern is my friend

I always use the lantern when someone throws it out to me and vice versa unless the lantern is legitimately risky/useless/unnecessary.

Some people just really either don't have the forethought to use the lantern for ganks, or don't have the map awareness to do so.

If it was a Vi, She doesn't need the Lantern, Q + R can cover MORE then half of the screen, Especially if you Q + flash + R, She should of been ready to fight, she doesn't need a lantern with that long range of a Q at hand and R.

edit As a Thresh support main, I throw my lanterns to save enemies or bring in junglers that don't have gap closers, But if they have a gap closer ( like most usually do now) I use it to reduce dmg on my carrying teammate or to help him change his position)

Using Vi's Q when lantern is available reduces damage output potential. Had he thrown out the lantern I would have taken it, ulted Vayne and then Q ---> Auto ---> E'd her. Instead he threw it at his feet and died while I was still channelling my Q (had to charge it a fair bit to get over the wall next to turret on ancient golem side of the jungle.

Then wasn't it already too late to gank? If he got killed in the amount of time it takes for VI to charge her Q (1 to 2 seconds) Without the shield he would of died faster, the lantern maybe even disappearing before you got to it, But now your on the other side of the golems jungle, so where was he? By the turret, by golems, in lane, in the jungle?
