Who honestly goes for Rift Herald?

I'm not saying this in a sarcastic or snotty way, this is a legit question: who ever tries to take Rift Herald? Almost every single one of my games that I play it just feels like nobody wants to go for it, whether I'm the jungle who wants to give it to top lane to keep up the pressure or I'm the top laner wanting to do the same thing but my jungler just doesn't want to. I mean, ok you can probably take it if the other team is mostly down bot, dead or something like that but what is really the point of a single buff that only ever works when you're alone? (besides the obvious answer of split pushing)

You take the buff when you are ahead or have nothing to do. You don't want to take Rift as the jungler when you have camps up, as you aren't putting yourself ahead only your top laner, so it is more efficient for you to both be farming.

Also, I think that it isn't taken that often outside of really cohesive teams or premades because 2 people have to cooperate for a meaningful advantage that only one of them directly reaps the benefits of. I think it's worthwhile to take it, but both the jg and the top lane have to be on board for a thing that isn't as flashy as dragon or baron.
