I think Yasuo should be able to cancel his dash animation

Cloud273··2 votes·894 views

Everyone always complains about Yasuo's "infinite mobility" (which is complete bullsh*t btw), but this is also his biggest weakness. Despite his "infinite mobility" this ability actually has a REALLY long animation and you're taking a huge risk every time you use this ability. I feel like I get punished every time I try to use my dash to last hit a minion. Oh, you dashed to last hit a minion? Guess you're under the tower now. Or a free kill for the jungler. Riven is/was (can't remember) able to animation cancel with his dashes, so I see no reason why Yasuo shouldn't be able to do this as well.

If you want to raise a discussion about yasuo it helps if you don't start it off by calling everyone else's beliefs "complete bullshit" ... just a suggestion.

I might be worried about what a high skill Yasuo player could do if they could cancel the dashes like that. They might be able to change direction mid-dash and pull some really fancy outplays that their opponent wouldn't really have any recourse against. It might be just a tad bit unfair for the Yasuo's opponent.

It's not a belief. This so called "infinite mobility" is a lie. I'll stop saying bullsh*t when people stop lying about Yasuo's "infinite mobility". Sound good?

You misunderstood me. I'm not saying that people are correct for believing it.

I'm saying that if you want people to listen to you, it helps if you don't make aggressive claims about people who disagree with you. It makes you look extreme, and it pushes away more moderate readers such as myself because in acting so aggressive unnecessarily, you lose our respect.

Notice how I said, "I might be worried about X," rather than, "you're an idiot, X is going to be a huge problem."

That was me giving you an opportunity to discuss X and convince me that it would not be a problem. Instead you ignored the opportunity and instead chose to double down on your insulting claims about people who disagree with you. C'mon man, I'm trying to give you every opportunity to convince me here, don't blow it.

Calling their opinions or beliefs "bullshit" carries the same sort of negative connotation.

Just because something is negative doesn't mean it's an insult. And what I said is true. People claim Yasuo has "infinite mobility" but this is a straight up lie (bullsh*t) and you know it.

Did you forget what my point was? It doesn't matter how right you are, or how bullshit their views are.

If you want your post to be well received, don't make enemies unnecessarily. It's that simple. it doesn't matter how bullshit other peoples' opinions are nor does it matter how right you are in saying so. If you call those opinions bullshit you immediately set yourself up for failure with an inflammatory introduction. This will lead to failure for two major reasons:

  1. because anyone who holds that opinion will stop reading and skip to the comments section so that they can flame you for being "wrong," (in their opinion of course).

  2. because any reasonable individual who sees such an introduction will be given the impression that you are volatile and not worth engaging in discussion with. And they may stop reading as well.

In both cases they won't read your idea, and an opportunity to have it heard and discussed is lost.

Seriously, if you have an idea and you want it heard, don't preemptively call other people's opinions bullshit in the first paragraph. At worst, that method will turn the comments section into a garbage fire of arguments. At best it will simply result in your post falling on deaf ears and your idea won't get discussed.

Anyone who says Yasuo lacks counterplay clearly has no idea how he works. Why don't you actually try playing the champ.

Implying that people who oppose you don't know what they are talking about.

And later in that same discussion you implied that people "didn't put effort into their arguments."

You might not be directly insulting people, but you're definitely insulting them with implications. You focus on discrediting people who oppose you instead of actually addressing the points they make.

You get combative with everyone who so much as reveals even a slightly neutral stance. Did you really expect any sort of constructive discussion when you acted like that? Or is your definition of a "constructive discussion" one where people simply fall in line and agree with you? That wouldn't be very realistic though, so I hope not.

When people stop spreading these lies about "infinite mobility" then I'll take their counter-arguments seriously. When people stop auto downvoting my thread just because Yasuo is in the OP I'll take their counter-arguments seriously.

And you even admit that I didn't directly insult anyone here. I'm not implying anything, and I'm not acting like anything. I've stated very clearly that this whole "infinite mobility" argument (which isn't even an argument because it's wrong) is a lie and I refuse to take someone seriously who clearly has no idea what they're talking about. I'm tired of re-hashing this over and over again. Do some research before you post about champion balance. I've certainly done mine.

  1. By making a pointless and aggressive claim about Yasuo's "infinite mobility" claims that other people supposedly have, you derailed your own thread. This was my point. If you want your idea for QoL to be seen and discussed, don't waste space in your post going on a tirade against people who allegedly hold an opinion that you think is bullshit. It wasn't relevant to your QoL idea, and it inflamed arguments and dissuaded rational people from responding.

  2. Whether you directly or indirectly insulted others is irrelevant. You discredited them instead of addressing their claims. There is no way to salvage that. You hath fucked up rhetorically. If you ever want to make a useful or relevant discussion on these boards I recommend you go look up what logical fallacies are and then I recommend that you strive to not make them in your posts and comments in the future.

Just to clarify, are you actually trying to get your QoL idea heard or do you just care about picking fights with people you perceive to be yasuo-haters?

If yasuo is able to cancel his dash, it removes counterplay which he honestly already has low amount of in 1v1s and it also makes him too much like riven. Playing against riven is like the lane is all about how she plays. If she plays well and makes no mistakes, then she usually wins lane or goes even since there is nothing the other side can do. If we lower counterplay in increasing cancel animations, it could lead to the same issue riven currently has. Also, this cancel animation could be a nice buff to people who play yasuo and script :P.

Why should I bother? All you do is downvote me anyways. Nobody wants to have a reasonable discussion. Stop making fun of Yasuo players and actually put some thought into your counterarguments, and then I'll start putting more effort into mine.

Also, stop saying he has infinite mobility, because this is absolutely not true. And his mobility is situational, unlike other champions (like assasins) who have access to mobility whenever they want (and instant repositioning abilities). Also, assassins don't have to land a skillshot in order to have decent damage. They just right click you with their abilities and you die. Yasuo actually needs to land his 'q' in order to do good damage.

Ralanr1 votes

I never said he had infinite mobility. Don't project everyone as disagreeing with you.

And if you're not going to bother explaining a viewpoint you stand for, then maybe you shouldn't be on a discussion forum.

I would put a lot more effort into my posts if I knew people weren't going to auto downvote it just because it has "Yasuo" in the title.

If you came to the forums to expect all your ideas to be agreed upon, then frankly you need to grow a thicker skin. Especially when Yasuo is a hot topic.

You have done little to even explain why Yasuo's dashes are not infinite. It literally takes a few words.

"Yasuo's mobility is limited to the number of targets present."

Boom. There. That's all you need to do instead of spamming, "Yasuo doesn't have infinite mobility, that's bullshit."

If you are not going to bother explaining, then what point do you have of coming to the forums?

"Grow a thicker skin". Why do you always resort to insults? I have refrained from insulting people in this thread (whether it's directly or inderectly) and you should do the same. I don't expect people to agree on everything, but I expect people to at least read the thread before downvoting and not call me a "filthy Yasuo main" or something similar.

Like I said. I know the thread will just get auto downvoted just because it has the word "Yasuo in it" and the thread will just die. Having said this, give me one good reason why I should bother putting effort into these threads.

Ralanr3 votes

Because you're better than this.

I would like to point out, that although you seem to take a position in your writing as though you are talking to the entire audience of people reading the thread, you are replying SPECIFICALLY to Ralanr in these posts, and thus you should respond to him as though he is the only one you are talking to.

Ralanr, never insulted you, never called you a "filthy Yasuo main", he simply made a suggestion on how you handle your posts and to be a more constructive person/poster/writer thing.

"Grow thicker skin" is not an insult, its a suggestion: Let me rephrase what he said a different way:

If you came to the forums to expect all your ideas to be agreed upon, then frankly you need to grow a thicker skin. Especially when Yasuo is a hot topic.

If you have been on the boards at all, you should know that EVERYONE will come into your thread to disagree with you, especially if you are talking about Yasuo. You should take care to remember that and be prepared, because otherwise you just become another one of "them": people who shout opinons on the boards but add no meaningful discussion.

All of that is summed up in "you need to grow a thicker skin". Its obvious why he chose to say it that way, much fewer words. XD

EDIT for the record, I love Yasuo as a champion, have no problems destroying him when he shows up in top lane with me. I think he is still a bit underpowered and a difficult to balance champion.

The amount of dislike you have for people who have honest disagreements with you is quite astounding and frankly disappointing. If you want to make the claim that yasuo is underpowered then look at the way he plays in all brackets of play. People are right that if you were to buff yasuo to help your specific concern he would become extremely overpowered in certain brackets of play and all of those factors need to be considered.
