Coin-flip Simulator - 3 years of plat but I can't get out of silver

Meteor Driz··30 votes·9,919 views

Update: I've analyzed the results from all the games I've logged here and this is what I've found:

Total games: 18 Total games with at least 1 hyper-carry: 15 (83%)

  • Total Hyper Carries by Type -

Melee AD: (55%) 10 out of 18 Ranged AD: (27%) 5 out of 18 Melee AP: (0%) 0 out of 18 Ranged AP: (5%) 1 out of 18

  • Relative Hyper Carries by Type -

Melee AD: (66%) 10 out of 15 Ranged AD: (33%) 5 out of 15 Melee AP: (0%) 0 out of 15 Ranged AP: (6%) 1 out of 15

  • Hyper Carries by Champion - Draven: 1 Jarven 1 Fiora: 1 Master Yi: 1 Kayn: 2 Zoe: 1 Kai'Sa: 1 Zed: 2 Nasus Top: 1 Nasus Mid: 1 Jhin: 1 MF: 1 Vi: 1 Vayne: 1 Irelia: 1

It's clear that as someone who plays mostly immobile mages mid and sometimes ADC... rough times make sense I suppose

--

Having started in season 3 in bronze then moving my way up 1 tier every year until maxing out at plat for 3 years... its finally come to this.

I can't get out of silver. 400 games of silver and I'm now demoted to silver 3.

Every single game has just unbelievable snowball that resulted in no possible counterplay.

Recounting my last 10 games:

8 out of 10 games were under 30 mins 9 out of 10 games had someone ridiculously fed 2 out of 10 games had an AFK

Loss - 25 mins - 11/3 Enemy Draven killed everyone in 2 auto attacks (0/4 and 0/5 botlane) Loss - 27 mins - 13/3 Enemy Jarven 1/9 Rengar Jungle and 1/8 ADC Loss - 22 mins [AFK ADC] - **20/4 Enemy Fiora **ADC goes 1-3 then AFKs. Loss - 25 mins - 17/3 Enemy Master Yi obliterates everyone in sight. 2/10 top and 2/10 shen support) Loss - 28 mins - 15/1 Enemy Kayn and 12/6 Enemy Jinx destroys all friendly life Loss - 27 mins - 17/2 Enemy Zoe kills everyone in one shot (our mid is bronze 1, Zoe was silver 1) Win - 34 mins - Enemy botlane goes down hard 4/13 Kai'sa and 2/11 Lulu Loss - 32 mins - 21/8 Enemy Kai'sa leaves no survivors **Win **- 24 mins - 1/11 Enemy LB feeds Ally Zed to 15/6 Loss - 27 mins [AFK Mid] - 13/3 Enemy Nasus Mid-lane 1/11 Talon dies 11 times in 10 mins then goes AFK

I just don't see how it's possible to control my own rank anymore with the state of the game

UPDATE:

Due to some recommendations in the comments about going back to using mages, I switch back to Xerath for a few games. As a background, I previously held 65%+ win rate with xerath for multiple years in gold.

Last 3 Xerath games:

3 out of 3 games top damage on team 2 out of 3 games top damage in the game (2nd place in game 3 to 18/6 MF. 28k vs 33k)

Win - 21 mins - 6/1/6 score. My botlane went 6/1 (Pyke) and 5/0 (Jhin). Loss - 34 mins - 7/3/11 score. Enemy zed went 12/3 due to friendly Rammus going 1/11. Loss - 30 mins [AFK Top] - 4/6/14 score. Friendly morgana got mad early in the game and told me "You know what? I'm mid now. You go support" then proceeded to come mid lane and attempt to steal as much cs as possible. Friendly illaoi AFKs shortly after without an explanation (all this around 10 mins). Enemy MF snowballed to 18/6 from the 2v1 botlane as morgana abandoned lane.

NEXT UPDATE:

UPDATE:

Here are some updates on recent games:

Loss - 16 mins - Although going even with Karthus who played safe under turret and roaming bot for our first kill (finished 1-0 in lane phase) Enemy team racks up 20 kills in under 15 minutes. Bot and top beg for early surrender. Enemy Nasus is 6/0 by 10 mins. Enemy botlane goes 5/0 & 3/2 vs our 0/5 & 2/5.

Loss - 31 mins - Although going 1/1/4 in lane phase against Yasuo, we soon find out that 12/10 friendly WW top and 1/8 friendly vayne can't match up against 12/5/12 Enemy Vi and 9/4/19 Enemy Jhin

Win - 31 mins - Played 11/6/16 Mid Vel'koz where 3/14/5 Enemy Mid Nautilus fed me 6 kills in 15 mins.

Loss - 38 mins _[Promo Game] _- 15/2 vayne proves impossible to stop, although doing the most damage in the game as 6/6/10 Xerath, it's a slow and painful loss.

Loss - 25 mins [Promo Game] - 12/3 Enemy Irelia and 14/5 Enemy Kayn massacre everyone. Although at 15 mins I am 0/1/2 (Yasuo) against my 1/3/0 lane opponent (Xerath), the game immediately turns as 4/1/1 Enemy Irelia and 5/1/3 Enemy Kayn decide to group mid and end the game, at which in this point of the game we have 1/6/0 Friendly Tryndamere continues to try and splitpush leaving us 4v5 and 0/3/0 Friendly Jhin tries to help but does no damage against these monsters.

I'm sorry, but no. Your kdas are low, you die too often, and you have really poor CS. This is without even looking at things like objective priority and whatnot. You are the reason you are losing a lot of your games, not others, if you truly played better you would climb.

This is the top-rated comment, so I'm going to reply to it with something that addresses everyone; There have been a lot of small blue dudes from Plat+ in Silver recently, and there have been even more people trying to climb back to Plat+ in Silver. I know because I've been fighting them.

I'm not saying the O.P is good, but people need to consider this: how did he maintain Plat+ for 3 whole years, and only when the game's at it's worst is he having any problems at all? The boards are littered with complaints about evidently-flawed matchmaking and rank distribution no matter how much people want to justify their ignorance with 'people are pushing the blame off for being bad' (despite how ironic it is that it's their own form of justification for not considering the other, opposite stance.)

If people want to be like "Your ultra-high KDA means nothing" in response to other people here, and then proceed to bitch about his KDA, they're hypocritical and contributing absolutely nil to improving the game as a whole. You can't have your cake and fuck it too; Pick between KDA having some value or none.

We can watch other players Ranked games in the client since its available for EVERYONE btw. If you don't think op.gg is enough then you are free to go watch his games and see for yourself if his skill level is that of a plat player.

Kills and Assists aren't everything, but there is one stat that's pretty important: DEATHS

When you're dead here's what happens

  1. You're losing gold and xp from minions so you fall behind in not only items but also Levels.

  2. You're not on the map to contest objectives, so enemy team is more likely to get Towers, Dragons, Baron which further increases the lead they already gotten from killing you.

  3. This is a team game, everyone has their role to fulfill for the team to function. Since OP loves to play Marksmen so much what do you think happens when the team loses their main DPS player? With their marksmen dead they are less likely to take objectives with the loss of DPS AND the enemy front lines are harder to kill. Bad games happen every now and then sure, but op has been consistently dying almost double digits.

This goes for all roles, just because you're a tank or support doesn't mean you dying for free won't have an effect on your team ether.

Oh I almost forgot to mention CS, his csing on marksmen champs is a joke for an ex plat.

J4 Ulted Mexico8 votes

I mean, you've gotta be doing well in your games too. You can't just blame it all on your teammates feeding. If you're really playing at a platinum level in your games you should be steamrolling your laner every single time.

Kai Guy5 votes

What, are you implying that the Op going Yasuo 1.87 kda with a 48% win rate in silver MMR might be related to how he plays? Gee next your gonna say that possibly maining something your not doing well with in a meta is gonna hurt your ability to climb.

Sivir meanwhile is almost 3 to 1 and 60%. 2nd most played champ but seems to doing worlds better then his mid lane game.

If it's so obvious to you then it should be obvious to OP too that his winrate is less because the game is a "coin flip" and more because of who and how he plays. When OP says there's "no possible counterplay", it makes it seem like he's absolving himself of guilt from his losses, so yes, I pointed out the obvious. I don't see the need for your hostile sarcasm.

I mean someone who legitimately has 3 seasons of plat on their account.

And most of the discussion has actually been about which champions this person is playing. Because it really is about who you choose to main.

Sir Saltarin5 votes

Yes, his most played champ on ranked is by far Yasuo and then Sivir I checked that before

There's nothing wrong with the champs, and he could be a plat player other seasons, he's not even close to that level on this one which is what matters.

Eat More Kittens1 votes

also ad midlaners are just harder to climb with cus it makes the team full ad most of the time or make the top laner play someone they arent as used to

Alüe1 votes

Maybe in prior seasons but pre season 5 being an ad midlaner was favorable especially with the gutting/pruning of viable ap mages midlane. Early mana issues (to cast abilities), magic pen (cut mr) and ap (dmg) makes pretty much any ad midlaner superior to their counter parts. A skilled yasuo or zed shouldn't be losing to a mage unless that mage has low cdr with hard cc like ryze.

Syndra Relatively safe laner, can harass while moving, is a lane bully, has good utility. Can shit on Zed if played properly. Can completely deny Leblanc of any QW burst if timed correctly. Cassiopeia Does a fuckton of damage, can easily go toe-to-toe with Yasuo once she gets tear or catalyst. Ryze Easily shits on Zed, can zone him off farm in the early levels, can easily all in him lvl 4 if you poked him down correctly.

My response is mainly about Zed, but Zed is one of those champions where most people hate laning against when he has such obvious counteplay. His harass is trash lvl 1. He's trash lvl 2. Stand behind minions take reduced Q dmg. Stand away from minions while zoning him off farm. Make him choose to Q you of the minions.

Leblanc: Push against her, her waveclear is shit.

Mid lane mages can't carry? What are you smoking, and let me have some.

Eat More Kittens1 votes

ryze and syndra arent good for climbing just look at their winrates

Leetri4 votes

Ryze can be broken OP and still have a 40% win rate because people have no clue how to play him at all.

Plat HardstuckXD6 votes

You probably have lost skill. Honestly playing in silver and gold is extremely easy so many mistakes you can abuse and some champs you can solo carry with. I was gold 5 last year and this year it felt extremely easy to get to Platinum.

Saianna5 votes

Remember the issue of what Bronze Hell was (and still is)?

It takes just 1 bad player for team to lose. And even if you did great, you still lost exactly as hard as the player that dragged you down. So in next game it repeats and you only sink lower.

This is exactly the same here. Even if you are some kind of god among men, as long as you have worse teammates than enemies are, you will be dragged down.

Ofc you can cheese it by spamming the solo-carries, but even those require some kind of setup and luck to be used.

Sir Saltarin9 votes

Remember the issue of what Bronze Hell was (and still is)?

Yes, bronze players that rather believe that trolls and afks are the reason why they dont climb instead of admitting that they are on bronze because that's their level of play.

church arson2 votes

I had a shitty support and a shitty jungle in a normal game.

Support Veigar went 1/15/4 and Yi went 6/20/3, all kills thanks to us.

We didn't give up and we won. I played average, 21/6 with bot lane Jhin, our midlaner was good with a 25/5. It took two players who weren't perfect to save two absolutely awful players.

Enemies dont guard themselves as much as they're supposed to, especially in low levels or ranks. You just take advantage of it.

I don't play ranked but I sure as hell would be very low rank if I did. Dont complain and do your best.

yea well that happens when someones past ego is still with them even though they have proof they arent good anymore, that also happens when you get washed up as hell. Listen my guy. If you cant predict snowballs and have good macro every game, then you go to silver g.

Before I used to be able to carry with champs like Xerath, Vel'koz, and Viktor in the mid lane.

I had to stop playing them now though because even if I was super fed, other champions still just destroy me.

Im in Silver and have been having success with Reksai Mid (played as a Crit Assassin)

item 3046 item 3031 item 3065 item 3812 item 3074 item 1001 Conqueror

She shits on Yasuo, Zed, Fizz, Zoe, Talon, Akali Always Ban Ahri Play less aggressive vs Mages with Stuns but once its on CD you can Tunnel to them and eat them.

In mid and late game if you are not fed you support the fed damage dealer with Poke and Knockup. She also can clear jungle Objectives fast too even without Smite.

You cant, Riot ether is negligent with their Match Making System OR they are doing this to force people to open new accounts to pad their account numbers.

Syndra1ShotJFK4 votes

I don't know about you, but I climbed from B1 to Gold 3 in a matter of months. Plus, if you are really plat, you should be carrying or at least doing well in a significant percentage of your games. I'm pretty sure I can hit plat in a couple of weeks or 2 months. You're either lazy or just bad.

Plus, if ranked is truly a coinflip, that means whatever you do, it doesn't matter right? Wrong. How come YOU aren't getting fed to have your opponents in the receiving end complaining, "ranked is such a coinflip".

Statistically speaking, 10% of your games should consist you of "being the coinflip". The 40-40-20 rule still applies. Or should we call it the 45-45-10 rule. 45% of your games you will get rekt. 45% of your games your team will carry you. 10% of your games you will carry. Assuming you truly belong in said rank.

Plus, just because your last 10 games were completely wild, doesn't mean show anything.

Edit: its the 40-20-20, cause if you shit on your laner, you are 20% of the game.

Sir Saltarin6 votes

The fact that this post it's not downvoted and even worse, it's upvoted show how clueless the Gameplay Boards is and how it will always remain as a meme.

I was plat 5 last season and I think I got gold 4 off my first provisional. If you're getting put in silver it's because your mmr has dropped massively.

Xerane1 votes

That's not 100% true. I hit gold 2 on this account in season 5 and quit playing on it since until yesterday when I remembered the login information for it. Did my first provisional match and put in silver 1, but every game including that game was against gold 1 to plat 3 players. After I finished provisionals, I was at silver 1 with 98 lp, won the next game, and then skipped promos for gold. I believe that your mmr is low based off of your opponents elo.

JuiceBoxP4 votes

People replying here are funny. OP clearly has the required skill to climb out of silver because he was platinum for 3 years. But the discussion is around the fact that one player can destroy a game harder than one player can carry it.

It's hard to get extremely fed in lane if your enemy laner isn't braindead. So if he can't get 15 kills by 10 minutes in lane, of course he wouldn't be able to take on the 2 fed enemy bot laners.

Eat More Kittens2 votes

nah just kda doesnt mean everything some people lose cus they are kda players and a plat player in silver should win about 18/20 games hes just not as good as he was

Kda is everything for an adc though. What are you doing if you're not inflicting damage on enemies as the adc?

As if kills is everything.

You're ignoring how garbage his cs is as an adc player by 20-30 minutes and how often he dies per game.

Do you seriously think this is the amount of CS per minute a Plat level player should have vs SILVERS?

https://i.imgur.com/ttn6jTJ.png[\img]

JuiceBoxP3 votes

i wasn't looking at his games. What i am talking about is the fact that people are diverting from the topic of the post to personal attacks about his performance without taking into account variables that occures in game.

It's really not easy to keep up good farm when you get zoned out or straight up shit upon every time you even try to farm by the enemy fed champion completely denying you any chance of comeback.

nit picking games like what you are doing and shaming the op without even thinking maybe he couldn't do anything in that situation where he was heavily oppressed is not discussion - it's just personal attacks.

Starcraft243ver3 votes

The fact is if you are getting shit upon by a silver player you are nowhere near plat.

This and the fact op has been plat 5 only two seasons and it was 2 years ago, the game changed and people improved, he's not plat anymore.

{quoted}

Excuses excuses, are you trying to tell me this "plat" player gets dumpstered every single game within the first 5 minutes (first 5 minutes because look at the 2-3 cs per minutes lmfao) by** silver players**? You're also telling me silver players know how to zone or punish other players for even the little mistakes?

nit picking games

Check his op.gg and tell me i'm nit picking again. This guy consistently has 3-5 CS per minute as the ADC in SILVER ELO. That's pathetic for someone that claims to be plat level.

BTW ALL Rank games are viewable for replay to everyone [slayer-pantheon-popcorn]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeWuC6JfyYE&feature=youtu.be I'm so impressed by his ability to dodge skillshots while weaving in autos between, oh wait. Something that should be so basic for plat players is non existent here, and the best part is he decided to defend this tower alone instead of giving it up and wait for his team to regroup, something that is expected of plat players to do.

Now I can go through all the mistakes this guy is doing that he shouldn't be doing as a plat player, but that's pointless because we all know how players love to refuse that they are the problem and that it must always be their teammates fault they can't climb out of bronze-gold.

Anyone that claims to be plat level and ends up stuck in anything below plat clearly doesn't belong in plat in the first place.

I stomped my way into plat multiple times before, so there is nothing you and anyone who disagree here can do to change my mind.

Bronze-gold is not coinflip at all.

church arson4 votes

Maybe the coin flip was you being plat.

Starcraft243ver4 votes

To be honnest you have a problem, because after 3 years plat i'm just crushing my way out of silver on my alt account. I'm not saying i'm not losing a few games, but I manage to secure a pretty solid winrate.

Also if you truly are plat, you are supposed to be the one getting ridiculously fed in silver games.

https://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=Meteor+Driz

The main problem is see is your CS score is consistantly low, way way below the expected CS score of a plat player. This prevents you to get fed and carry. Also playing an immobile carry like jinx does not prevent you to climb, but it will definitely lead to some games in which you will just get crushed and you will not be able to do anything about this.

A well mastered vayne or yasuo on the other hand has no real counter and has a lot of ways to outplay in silver.

After 400 games played in silver on your part, we can't really blame it on luck. You kinda prooved you are silver now. Maybe you didnt adapt to the changes of these new seasons (also you were gold 5 last season so, not really far from silver).

GripaAviara1 votes

You went from playing mostly mages to playing mostly ad champions. Sounds like your skill level with AD champions are lower compared to your skill with mages. You should add the 2/14 Pyke and 2/10 Ezreal to your list to prove how you can't control your own rank anymore.

AnotherFeeder2 votes

Reading these comments wondering how many of the people talking about "if u were plat V good ud carry" wondering how many of them have actually played with hardstuck play v's. They. Are. Terrible.

Bottom divisions of any rank are typically much worse than the skill level associated with people who actually climb or even fluctuate through those ranks. A plat V with hundreds of games could be decently close in skill level to a low # games played decent win rate silver. And also in those seasons there were many neutral climbing strats for someone to be able to easily slownclimb on with low 50s w/rs. While this season that is harder to do with how volatile games are.

But no, obviously op is not a plat player in skill, and did not even get plat s8. He SHOULD be making a post asking for advice in situations or strategies to help him improve is his current elo rly bothers him, but thats just not how things are done around here.

To all the people finding this as proof that the ranked system no longer works, there r still plenty of us seein the same kind of climbing in low elo as b4, but like always if u want to win games in an elo where player follow up is wildly inconsistent, u need to play to minimize ur need of assistance. This trims down the number of possible plays u can make like tower diving, jg invades ect.... but remember the enemy team wont be pulling this shit off without fking it up either till u get higher elo. Also dont fking type, im still trying to perfect that strategy myself.
