League, I loved you. But its over now.

League of Legends -

I'm just so angry every single game i play you. I loved you more than I've ever loved a game before, but as much as I hate to admit it.... It's over. I've played for years but something is different. I've been forcing myself to play games, just trying to get the love back. But its gone. I hate it, but its gone.

It started with the season rollback, that broke my heart. In the previous years, it still sucked really bad but I knew I could climb back up easy, and I did. Now, it's like looking up at a solid wall of concrete a mile high with a broken arm. Instead of jumping back in, I'm just standing here walking back slowly going "Theres just no way I can do that again". Theres no place for me anymore.

Then came the absurd win rate champions, that broke my spirit. I've always played off-meta champs. But now, theres no place for them. There are only the select elite which are in every single game, and I see the same repeated results every single time. "Why don't you play the op champs then" because thats not my thing. I've never done that and in the past I climbed consistently while feeling unique. I made it to plat 4 feeling like I forged my own way. There's no place for a me anymore.

Finally, the dynamic que. That broke my passion. I've been a mid main my whole league life. I never had a problem getting mid in previous seasons. Sure sometimes I did other things, but most of the time, people were cool with letting me mid if I asked. Then dynamic que came and I thought "Oh wow mid all the time, this is gonna be great!" Only to find that I get mid roughly 20% of the time (sampled from 110 games) even though I que it as my primary role. I'm a mid main, that was my thing. Again, theres no place for me anymore.

League, you have evolved. Good for you. I'm happy you have grown. But you've changed, and I just cant do this anymore. Not saying you should change back, I just cant go with you to wherever you are going. But please let me say thank you for all the memories and good times, you are sorely missed but not forgotten. You had a huge impact on my life in a positive way, thank you.

Best of luck to you League, I hope you find what you are looking for.

Sincerely,

Meteor Driz

This isn't even considerably "League of Legends". The game I originally installed is nothing like the one I'm playing.

I quit a month ago.

Within a month, my career was back on track, I joined a martial arts gym, lost weight, gained muscle and eat healthier.

PDE5 Inhib3 votes

You could have done those things and played League tho lol.

BluePolarizer1 votes

But league isn't fun anymore for me. Why would I continue an activity that's no longer fun?

PDE5 Inhib1 votes

You shouldn't...but you didn't mention that was why you quit playing.

Oh, and PLEASE start using the oxford comma lol.

The win rates are not too bad imo.

A lot of champions who deserve a low win rate have a low win rate now unlike in the past:

  • Kalista: 44.3%
  • Nidalee: 45.1%
  • Rengar: 45.1%
  • Kassadin: 46.2%
  • LeBlanc: 46.4%
  • Riven: 46.9%
  • Lee Sin: 46.9%

But there are still some problems:

  • Elise: 49.0%
  • Kha'Zix: 49.8%
  • Talon: 50.2%
  • Ekko: 50.5%
  • Fizz: 50.7%
  • Zed: 51.1%
  • Yasuo: 51.1%
  • Quinn: 51.6%

http://www.leagueofgraphs.com/champions/stats/all/by-winrate

But what happened to Kalista, Nidalee, Rengar, Riven is really a big improvement. On the other side there are Kha' Zix buffs, so maybe Riot as not learned very much.

That fact that you think any champion should have a 44% win rate, as well as thinking one with a 51% win rate is a problem eliminates any feasibility of your post being correct.

Not only the win rate matters, but the ban rate and play rate too, and the win rate for mains. So if a champion has a ban and play rate above the average or a much increased win rate for mains, a 44% win rate overall can be necessary to compensate that, and a 51% win rate can be way too high.

A good win rate, for the average champion, is anywhere between 48 (very low end) to 52 (very high end). If they start spreading out more then that, there is a problem. It doesn't matter the play rate, no champion should have that low of a win rate -- it is bad for balance.

You're seriously saying that it's healthy for high skillcap champs to be above 50% winrate? In all honesty, high skillcap champs should't break over 47%-ish, especially if they are popular.

If a champion with 48% win rate has still a high ban rate, it should be nerfed, because the playerbase don't want to play against that, probably because of a toxic kit. And if a champion with 48% win rate still has a very high play rate, he should be nerfed, because he is still more play-worthy than the average in the player-base's opinion.

Why is a 44% win rate more of a problem then a 1% pick rate or a 30% ban rate? 44% win rate is still much closer to the average.

Jesus you're clueless.

Lee Sin is played more than Warwick because Warwick is boring, not because of any problem with Lee Sin.

Fiora is banned more than Janna because stupid people don't understand how much more effective as a champion Janna is.

Lee Sin is played more than Warwick because Warwick is boring, not because of any problem with Lee Sin.

Lee Sins problem is not that he is fun to play, but that his high play rate makes it boring to play against him. If Lee Sin players would play Warwick more often, it would make the game more versatile for the opponents. That is why it is ok, that Warwick has a higher win rate than Lee Sin.

Fiora is banned more than Janna because stupid people don't understand how much more effective as a champion Janna is.

Fiora is just more toxic.

Both have the same play rate, Janna has higher win rate, but Fiora has higher ban rate. This means Fiora's kit is more toxic. The people are not just stupid, but don't want to play against toxic champions.

This is incredibly poor reasoning. So because a champion is popular the people who like that champion should be punished for it?

No, that's ridiculous.

No, it means that stupid people would rather waste a ban on a 46% win rate champion than one that is consistently 53%+.

Anyone who would ban Fiora over Janna is stupid, barring someone banning Fiora because they counter their champion.

The game should be versatile, so unpopular champions need help and popular champions need to be kept in check.

The best 10,000 players of a popular champion will still have the same win rate than the best 10,000 players of an unpopular champion. A champion that gets played by a ton of noobs, should not be balanced for noobs because of that. That would make the champion oppressive in the hands of the best players of the champion.

Winning is not the only thing that makes a game fun, and fun is the reason to play games. So if a champion is unfun to play against, it is reasonable to ban him, and to nerf him.

An absolutely idiotic point that ignores that a large play rate doesn't imply that the playerbase of that champion is inexperienced.

http://champion.gg/champion/LeeSin/Jungle

Lee Sin is the most played jungler, and his players are also some of the most experienced of all junglers, sixth out of forty six on average.

Win rate is indeed not the only thing Riot should balance around, but play rate itself means absolutely nothing.

And no, unpopular champions don't necessarily need help. Warwick is only popular when he's overpowered, because his kit is extremely boring and basic.

Winning is not the only thing that makes a game fun, and fun is the reason to play games. So if a champion is unfun to play against, it is reasonable to ban him, and to nerf him.

Nope, learn how to play against them instead of whining about how unfun a champion is to play against. People subjectively finding a champion unfun to play against is not a reasonable basis for nerfing, gtfo with that garbage. Oh by the way, lol at a fucking Evelynn main calling other champions "toxic".

Also, there is no reason to assume that people ban champions because they are "toxic", a lot of people think Fiora is still overpowered.

Inexperienced compared to the top 10,000 players of a champion.

And no, unpopular champions don't necessarily need help. Warwick is only popular when he's overpowered, because his kit is extremely boring and basic.

Warwick has 5.2% play rate (7.7% is average), 51.6% win rate, 0.2% ban rate. Lee Sin has 22.9% play rate, 46.2% win rate, 4.2% ban rate.

So Riot is already helping Warwick with the win rate compared to Lee Sin. What do you want? That both have the same win rate? Warwick would have 1% play rate and Lee Sin 50%. The game would be extremely boring. I'm glad Riot is not that stupid.

Nope, learn how to play against them instead of whining about how unfun a champion is to play against. People subjectively finding a champion unfun to play against is not a reasonable basis for nerfing, gtfo with that garbage.

The game is for the players. The game is successful, because the fun elements outweigh the unfun elements. That counts both playing as a champion and playing against one. You can't focus solely on one aspect. It has to be a compromise.

Oh by the way, lol at a fucking Evelynn main calling other champions "toxic".

I don't ask for buffs for Evelynn. And she has only 47.5% win rate.

Also, there is no reason to assume that people ban champions because they are "toxic", a lot of people think Fiora is still overpowered.

She is overpowered in the hands of a good player, because of her toxic kit. Toxic kits are not necessarily easy to use, but have low counterplay if used correctly.

The fact that a post saying "every assassin or otherwise strong early champion should have a win rate around 45%" is upvoted makes me think it's a good thing players like you quit the game. The inability to see bias is real.

Ackelope1 votes

In an ideal world, all champs should have around a 50% win rate, no matter how popular they are. I don't quite understand why people frequently argue why higher playrate should mean lower winrate, more people playing may mean more people losing, but it also means more people winning. Unless I'm missing something integral to that idea, a champion's winrate should be hoped to lie around 50% at all times.

Widder881 votes

If you decrease the win rate of popular champions, you make the game more versatile. If you decrease the win rate of champions with high ban rate, you make the game less toxic (champion-kit-wise).

Nerfs and Buffs should be used to balance the win, play and ban rate, not just the win rate imo.

But then stuff like that just kept happening with runeglaive ez, juggernauts, release skarner rework, and then they completey killed vision in preseason.. I dunno. I'm not at the point of quitting like you are, I still have fun. But then again i dont touch ranked because its a nightmare right now.

But games like these happen. We've all had them. And the thing that makes league so unique is that every match is unique and you can always learn and improve.
