So, more mana regen nerfs.

You continue to shit on mages (many of whom are immobile) while directly and indirectly buffing their resourceless brethren (most of whom are quite mobile). 75 mana, great! Thanks for that! That will help someone, in some situation, at some time!

Balance where?

"mana gate should mean something" Well, resourcelessness should have tradeoffs too. Why are only one of these "rules" being adhered to?

Continue forcing the mages to support, which gets them nerfed again (for reasons). This all seems to be leading up to simply deleting the mage class. Care to stop twirling your mustache for a second and explain what the fuck is going on, Riot? Why are you shitting on mages so hard when they USED to be almost reasonably balanced against the resourceless assassins plaguing mid? ~Uiru

Well, Riot's 'official' stance seems to be: "Ziggs isn't fun to lane against, so we're nerfing the entire mage class."

Id rather play vs ziggs with unlimited mana than zed, riven, LB, FIzz.

I genuinely don't understand the stance toward mages at the moment. Mana seems to me to be in a really bad spot right now (specifically in regards to magey mid-laners). If you don't have a mana regen or mana conservation mechanic, you stand virtually no chance of actually winning your lane reasonably well against someone like Zed. And now they're nerfing it even more. I take 3 points in this mastery on virtually every mid, and it gives you 2-4 extra spells in lane. that is actually a MASSIVE deal when you're going up against the energy/resourceless champions in mid lane right now.

It actually makes me think they're preparing to do another pass on the base mana regen values of mid laners and maybe up it a bit. Is that just wishful thinking? Everything I've seen in regards to mana this season has been to reduce it's effectiveness. There has to be some sort of legitimate compensation buff, no?

It's definitely a weird decision given how bad mana regen is regardless. I don't use the mastery (I prefer 9 points in Defense over Utility), but the fact that it is yet another nerf to mana users makes me question how they view mana vs. energy. Energy/Resourceless champions are still the most dominant figures at midlane, so I'm not sure why Riot is so adamant on ensuring mana regen stays abysmal.

Resourceless midlaners Katarina Zed meta will be further enforced and mages will decay into oblivion.

Like someone else stated, there needs to be a trade off for the resourceless champions. Mana champions are limited to a number of spells that can be used and requires better judgement as to not run out of Mana and die. Resourceless champions has no trade offs, they have low cool downs, spam skills and can be overly oppressive in lane.

When mana less champions like Zed/Katarina have better wave clear, better roam and mobility out push champions like Lux and Syndra you know there is a BIG problem. There is no reason to pick Syndra or Lux over Zed or Katarina because of the aforementioned strengths that Zed and Katarina have. These two champions need to have their health regen as low as Riven's. There is no reason why these two major offenders (Zed and Katarina) should have waveclear, 1v1 kill pressure, manaless and high natural sustain. Natural sustain by way of hp regen needs to be nerfed heavily for these specific champions. There already is a large balance gap between mages and Assassins, this mana regen change will further that gap. Also a PSA, Zed and Kat weren't nearly as much of an issue towards the end of season 4, but when the balance team decided to gut mana regen across the boards, Zed and Kat became unkillable nightmares in the mid lane. This problem REALLY needs to be addressed.

how many resourceless champs are you facing in lane as a mage exactly?

because most of them tend to go top. and lategame, mana is a nonissue for most mages, as the stat is attached to nearly every one of their core items.

being resourceless is exclusively an early game advantage. and nearly all resourceless champions (except for vlad and gnar) are melees that would otherwise get completely destroyed by ranged champions who could constantly harass them with auto attacks and spells from a distance, until the melee runs out of mana, because he has to spam his abilities to sustain himself.

the only manaless champion i find problematic on mid lane is zed. because he can waveclear and farm from a distance too well.

otherwise mages usually dont even come into contact with them until mid game. so unless youre one of those guys who take lyssandra, or other mages top, whats your problem with them exactly?
