Do you gank for the lane that is winning or for the losing lane?

Helping the Strong or The Weak and why?

Note: I don't play jg but I think helping the strong is better then the losing one, you can make him come back but...meh.

I like to help to losing lane theoretically to help a come back, and because they're usually pushed back enough to gank. However, no one wants to gank a 4/0 Lucian at 6 mins.

It is all situational.

I generally prefer ganking winning (or even) lanes since they have already proven themselves to be competent enough to not lose lane. They are more likely to cooperate and make proper use of any lead you can give them rather than throwing it away or still needing help afterwards.

I'll gank losing lanes when I'm strong enough to ensure we can get a kill even if my ally doesn't help, but that it primarily to shut down the fed enemy champion rather than help the losing laner. While the enemy may be overextended and easier to gank, that doesn't matter much if they are strong enough to turn and double-kill us.

Gank winning or even lanes.

  1. Steamroll people who are ahead and protect hypercarries if they don't fall behind.
  2. If you get counterganked, you can't 2v2 if the laner is behind.
  3. The guy who is ahead is probably better this game than the one who is behind.
  4. You don't want to gank and lose a 2v1.
  5. Time is your most precious resource as a jungler, you have to spend it wisely.

Not anymore a jungle main but the jungle taught me some things:

1 - Always prefer ganking winning lanes: Those who win theyr lanes 1 vs 1 have proven to be able to stand theyr own against the opponent so they are more likely to win the gank; 2 - Prefer to gank carry champs: This should be obvious even though most people don't get this. No matter how fed, that blitzcrank mid won't carry the game, while that vayne bot or that jax top might be able to do something; 3 - Don't gank lanes that are too much behind: you will just die and give a triple/double; 4 - Always make your own calls: You are the jungler, it's your job to control drakes and barons so do it, Also laners can't make calls since, if they are in theyr comfort role, they probably almost never jungle; 5 - Instantly mute flaming lanes: they will never stop complaining they lost 2 vs 1 bot, against the supp, because "you didn't gank us" and it's just a pain to deaò with them; 6 - Try do deepward as much as you can: laners can't deepward most of the times so you gotta do it yourself, else you will never know the enemy jungler's location.

Obviously these aren't strict rules: if the losing lane i a hard carry bot-lan you can try to gank them, especially if they lost in a close fight.

I'm just adding to everyone else's. Keep in mind of your champ, laner's champ, and enemy laners champ. If the enemy mid is say a LeBlanc, your mid is a viegar, and your say an Udyr, you proabably can get off a successful gank.
