can some rioter please make a statement why player rank and mmr are so disconnected from each other?

like why do people have to be able to compete against division 3 players a whole league above their own to climb into division 1 of the league theyre currently playing at?

why dont we actually GET the rank were playing at and are punished for being on a win streak? getting more challenging games without being approriately rewarded with rank for winning them?

also, why does LP cut off at 100 at our current division, while we still take full lp losses in promos?

if youre at 99 lp in your division and win the following game, you gain 1 lp and are considered in promos. if you lose the next promo game, youre considered at ~80 lp in your current division while still being in promos. if you lose the second game, if flings you back to 60 lp in your current division.

at the same time when you win both games, you gain 0 lp in the next division instad of 40. why is this a thing?

It's the nature of the beast, plus it benefits you. let's say you're Gold 5 but you were on a pretty sweet winning streak from Silver 3 to where you are. Chances are your MMR has hit Gold 3 or 2 this means for a win you will gain 22-26 LP. If you were to lose you would only lose 18-16 LP max. If your MMR is the exact rank you are I believe you gain and lose about 18-20 a game. I personally love the system and think it actually makes climbing easier than if it was your exact rank.

yea no, its still bullshit and doesnt make climbing easier. its exactly the opposite.

like imagine someone is close to his "true mmr". at a skill level where he belongs.

but in your example he would be stuck in silver 1/2 while playing gold level games. he would have to win games at around gold 3 just to get into silver 1? games around gold 1/plat 5 to get into gold 5?

why isnt that player just rewarded with the actual gold rank, if hes expected to compete there?

its no wonder that you constantly have people complaining that theyre stuck and unable to climb when you expect them to play games at gold, to keep their current rank at silver.

thats my question. why does player rank not reflect player skill? why is it represented by invisible mmr? why cant we take mmr itself as a metric for player rank like it used to be in season 1 and season 2?

IDK I wish they would show us our MMR again. But I personally think it's easier for climbing. But maybe I haven't peaked my skill level yet. Maybe it's around Plat 3/2 where I peak. But I personally like the system.

Not sure why the downvotes when mostly true.

On my main to get back into gold starting at Silver 2 promos I had to face gold 3+ so the issue is 2 faced where those gold people either have deflated MMR and need to drop faster and/or I have an inflated MMR and need to be promoted faster yet was still just earning 22-24 LP per win

Meanwhile on here I have a S2-S1 MMR but S4 rank.

The disconnect has always been RITOs way of saying fucking grind moar bitches from having promo matches that slow down your rank climb speed while MMR is taking off
