The conflicting arguments of the "break the meta" debate

"But Smite Support Nunu works. He's in DIamond ELO"

Alright so we agree that if a strategy works, its perfectly fine. We would also agree that using Smite Support Janna to perform the same strategy would not be acceptable because Janna can't actually clear the enemy jungle while counterjungling right?

So we're in agreeance that specific strategies and champions that can accomplish those specific strategies effectively to give your team an advantage is acceptable right? Smite Support Janna, however, should be reportable right?

#Thats literally exactly what a Meta is to begin with. Congrats on "not enforcing a meta".

"Support isn't a lane"

Alright so you're saying that since Riot didn't specifically name Support after a lane, they're free to do whatever? Let me ask you then. How is Riot forcing other people into specific lanes not ENFORCING A META? Why is it acceptable for Riot to undeniably enforce a meta on some positions but not others? Complete hypocrisy of the argument.

"It's ridiculous that he got banned after receiving reports in over half his games"

Who are you trying to kid? 99% of the community would be smashing that report button without an ounce of hesitation if he was on your team in a ranked game. I would dare to say he received reports in 100% of all games he lost. Please spare us your white-knighting keyboard activist bullshit. You know damn well you would be posting a thread here complaining "How do you carry these worthless trolls in ranked?!?!?! WHY DOES RIOT DO NOTHING?!?!?!"

i'ts not because he's in diamond it works because it made him climb with 53% win rate over 300 games which is a massive fucking gain of LP

if you can do the same with janna, feel free to do it and show me the success afterwards

"support isn't a lane" yeah it isn't a lane, you can support your toplaner, you can support your midlaner, you can support your jungler get it? right now everyone followed an invisble rule telling them to support the botlane, until this dude realised that NUNU was a good counterjungler and could roam+counterjungle with smite

IT ISN'T FUCKING NEW it exists since the release of maokai until that he was nerfed so stop saying bullshit, and let people win their game

Thats not the argument. The argument is that Riot is enforcing a meta by forcing other roles into lanes. Yet we're supposed to ignore that and call Riot monsters for picking on poor smite support Nunu. Lmao the hypocrisy is real.

"Its fine for Riot to enforce meta roles on 4/5 people, but its disgusting when they do it to support"

Complete bullshit argument

Read my post and say it again. If Riot wouldn't tell players to go to x lane they would do it anyways. Riot doesn't enforce a meta, they simply safe your team the time to determine who goes where.

Your whole argument could work if it had been different in earlier seasons. But even before the NCS was implemented people chose to go top/jungle/mid/bot/support.

this sentence didn't make any sense let me correct you, riot is enforcing a meta by banning this support nunu

Top is top, you want top to be in their base? mid is mid bot is bot junger is jungler, not in fucking japan

support is not the name of a lane, it's a role that is supposed to help a team

what the fuck

Give me one reason why you are bound to one lane other than the meta? What is stopping someone from playing roaming mage instead of Mid other than the meta?

"But Riot named those roles"

So again, you're telling me that the only reason that roaming mage is a troll pick is because Riot assigned you a meta position? Explain to me exactly how Riot enforcing a meta on support makes them monsters, but enforcing meta positions on others is fine?

"Hurr durr but Riot but a name on it"

Dr. Sona x Rubik explains it pretty well. While yes, certain supports smite won't work because of their lack of clear. It could help shake up the support role. Introducing more counter jungle based supports. This could actually help shift power around. As now the jungle isn't just a power struggle between two people, but now three people, maybe four.

If it works, it works. If it works well, then it works well.

Not it shouldn't. If she's actually trolling yes, but just because she picked smite shouldn't make it banable. Maybe she wants to try and smitesteal every red/bluebuff from the enemy jungler. Maybe she wants to have that extra true damage for objectives like dragon or baron.

How exactly is that hypocrisy? If you don't want to open a lane at the beginning of a game you'll use your brain and send a person into each lane to begin with, so someone is bound to be top, mid and bot. That's not enforcing a meta, that's using common sense.

Support isn't specified as a lane because it's not your (the ADCs) bitch regardless of what you might think about it.

I wouldn't report him. Proof me wrong. I've never reported off-meta.
