Hey adc players: you are not the main protagonist of the team.

Dasdi96··31 votes·1,552 views

So if I am playing a tank top/jungle do not expect me to buy knight's vow for you. Similarly, if I am an enchanter, you are not entitled to all my buffs and peel, especially if you are feeding. Instead I will use my buffs on the person who is doing the best or is at least going even. It seems like adc mains are starting to get spoiled again after like 3 seasons because riot is spoiling them so much.

Any player that expects the game to revolve around them is annoying.

Having said that, the adc is not designed to survive alone. If they don't have some peel or buffs from someone on your team, you should lose the game in most cases. Very few adcs can contribute with no help, and that's something that is a big difference in understanding at low and high levels of play, imo.

If a marksman build like that then they be quite lacking in damage.

Except maybe Kog, because his W and Q are godly for that.

Ahristocats4 votes

implying you need to build all those items to survive as an adc

also kalista builds BT+mallet+BORK+runnan+LW+PD at the end when she can sell boots

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Kalista doesn't really need boots with ruunan and phatom thanks to her passive, it lets her kite anyway.

Especially against melee when she has mallet.

And you do need like 2-3 defensive items as a marksman to survive a good assassin if neither has flash.

Provided you aren't playing Draven or Vayne or Tristana .

But some mages can still nearly instantly delete most marksmen, and against them you definitely need a lot of defensive items or a lulu/janna.

But other than the mentioned 3 i don't think any marksman really stands a good chance at surviving a 1v1 against any assassin.

Kaìju2 votes

Kalista selling boots is a bad idea though because your jump range scales with your boot level. Sure you may have a lot of attack speed but you also need more attacks to go the same distance which means more stopping.

Been thinking about Swain design a lot (because of the upcoming rework), and I'm beginning to wonder if lifesteal on minions is just bad for the game.

I can understand lifesteal on champs, but I don't like how available it is, even for that. You got any thoughts on that from high elo?

Ahristocats7 votes

i do not pretend to held the truth about lifesteal or adc and their survivability

but i do think that previously their lifesteal was fine because of how assassin burst was quick and how cc were point and click and now that both of them are gone their lifesteal isn't balanced at all, and leads to many situations were adcs should die but do not

ModKnightsKemplar1 votes

Ah... That's a great point. I didn't think about how the assassin rework played into that. You're right, though, that's when it started to be a noticeable problem to me.

annie?

i think lifesteal shouldn't scale with crits

that would take it down a bit

such fun those adc's with 17 mundo ults activated

As an ADC main yes it's annoying when your support isn't playing that well (it's undoubtably the same the other way around, and for solo laners/JGs), but I don't expect people to buy for me me me! Hate that stereotype lol

I may suggest locket if we are losing fights because I am getting dove hard every fight, but that's about it.

DuskDaUmbreon8 votes

Conversely, players in other lanes need to understand one thing:

You're royally fucked if you hope to take that turret without a marksman. Especially if the enemy team is under it.

You also need to understand that, while keeping the ADC alive is not your primary job, it falls under the job that everyone has of making sure the team wins. Your fun is less important than 4 other people's fun. You want to go a squishy top, or take an assassin? You need to make sure your team can handle that. If you're in a lane expected to bring cc/tank/burst, and you pick something that isn't those, without making sure that someone is, you're at fault.

And you also need to understand that keeping the ADC, who is a late-game champion, alive, even when they're behind, is important. If you keep letting them die over and over, they will never get to the point where they can do jack shit.

Cowseed1 votes

I go kat top for.... reasons :D

And before you go saying I'm taking on unnessessary risk for my team I've one most of those games. I depend on mid, support and jungle for cc and just help to clean up fights. Picking tanks sucks because no one goes in when you make one of the best initiations possible that or you have baron and everyone splits up, recalls or other questionable things.

As for keeping the ADC alive. I really don't care. That's why I pick kat. If i want towers I pick akali and split push. If I want a better teamfight I pick Kat.

And no I'm not gonna play adc. I'd rather mid.... and I haven't played mid in months.

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

Going Kat top is fine (maybe not morally, but it's not gonna cripple the entire team if you do), as long as you make sure that someone is a tank. The difference between their Fizz single-handedly carrying or dying out is having a tank on the team.

Cowseed1 votes

Nah at this elo it doesn't matter much as long as you have decent target selection.

I remember my days of playing poppy and landing five-man ults or ccing carries and team twidles there thums, walk away, don't do damage because they're just building on autopilot and just.... ugh.

Because I discovered the glory of bonus XP runes thanks to the rune give away kat feels much better top. The only problem really is sustain :/ but screw akali for now because I run into the same problem as poppy.

Reading this just shows how entitled adc players have become. You want cc/tank/burst? Why not pick it for yourself? Your entire comment is what is wrong with league of legends. Marksman here, marksman there. You need this you need that. Marksman marksman yada yada. go f*** yourselves adc mains and rito ofc transforming this game into league of marksmen and their 4 supports.

I don't care what is expected in my lane and noone should actually. Is it good to have a tank? Sure. Is it necessary? Not really, not in soloQ. Do i need a marksman to get towers? Totally not. My Jayce can handle towers just fine even faster. Everyone has the job to keep the adc alive. What a fun game, everyone needs to devote themselves to their marksman overload praying he is able to rightclick properly. No thank you.

brohamninjaghost5 votes

Please don't put all adc mains in the same boat. I am one and i couldn't care less if people pick all squishes or whatever they want. Sure some peel is nice so I don't get dove and killed every fight but I don't put it on the team to protect me. adc's should be able to position themselves good enough to not die all the time or read situations. I know a lot of adc mains may feel like they are the center of the universe but not all do.

DuskDaUmbreon1 votes

You do realize that a marksman cannot go tank. Right? ADC and tank are contradictory roles. "Tank ADC" is bullshit that doesn't actually exist. Sure, a marksman can go Ashe or Varus, and bring in some CC, or they can go Lethality and have solid burst, but tank? They literately cannot be tanks and still be ADCs.

I never said the entire team had to devote themselves to the ADC. I said the entire team had to devote themselves to the entire team.

Princess Píxie 4 votes

You realize getting insta-killed as an adc means you fall behind in farm, the team can fall behind in objective, and gold advantage. Technically every team mate is important but the reason why they are A-D carry is because they can quickly take objectives. If I have a top laner like Riven, Nautilus, Riven, Fiora (practically any tank) I expect an engage from them and I expect them to be front line so I can do damage from their melee/tanky stand point.

SomeStars6 votes

riven, fiora and riven are not a tank they are a skirmisher

nautilus is the only tank there and as the OP said you don't deserve the buffs and peel if you fed because a draven that cant even deal enough damage is basically worthless compared to the veigar who went 6/0

i'm not saying boycot the adc and neither is the OP (i think) its just strategically more benificial to save the actual carry of the team instead of the adc

brohamninjaghost4 votes

As an adc main I agree with this. Who ever carries the team should get buffs, whether it is mid adc top sup or jg.

Cowseed1 votes

How does one give a support buffs?

Wtf, you listed 1 tank and a bunch of diver/fighter/assassins. Actually just 2 because you repeated riven for some reason. Fiora and Riven are basically melee carries, they are NOT engage champions in any sense of the term. Often the only tank stats in their first 3 items (besides boots) will be a modest amount of health from black cleaver; e.g. ravenous hydra + black cleaver + bloodthirster on Fiora, or ghost blade + black cleaver + mercurial scimitar riven. ESPECIALLY, if they are fed, which was alluded to by the OP.

I'm sure you're the worlds best support.

Remove your emotion from the equation and just play the game. Support your adc and use logic, not bias and knee-jerk emotions. (You're dying so I'm not supporting you, because its upsetting me and you're obviously terrible, is the mind set im seeing)

Its very simple to stay calm and collected, don't get so worked up over your teammates. You can't control them, focus on what you CAN control, and you'll have a better experience.

He was talking about the fact that adcs aren't the only ones that can carry the game, especially when they are behind and it's better to protect the actual carry of the game.

Devilreaper XIII4 votes

are you talking about marksmen ? or Attack Damage Carry ?

they are two different things now O.O

when this game didn't have champions like jax yet..... only marksmen were capable of taking down towers quickly now the term ADC can be applied to just about any champion that can tear down towers in split seconds, you always need to provide aid to the ADC if you are support, since their focus is OBJECTIVES!

but that doesn't mean the marksman at bot lane is an ADC by default O.O

Just Blame Jenny4 votes

I don't main adc (only play it occasionally in norms), but you can bet I'll throw all of my resources into protecting them.

Why? Because I win more when I do.

It's the meta, boys. Not saying I like it, but it is what it is.

PePsiLemoNN3 votes

I bet you're also the one who after game says ''look at our adc 0/7 and no damage''.

This is exactly the same shit as people who say ''it's my redbuff i'm the jungler i don't want to give it to the adc'' even tho it's the most efficient on the ADC.

ChaosThief1 votes

If the marksmen is 0/7, then it's likely more risk to give it to them than the one who isn't high on deaths. I'm not trying to be negative, but if they have that many deaths, that means someone on the enemy team (or multiple people) have killed that marksmen, and it would be best provided to someone who isn't set back (not necessarily the jungler though.)

PePsiLemoNN3 votes

Point was that he died a lot cause OP decided that healing/shielding him isn't a priority

ChaosThief2 votes

I wouldn't say that shields and heals would necessarily save an ally. They might help, they might not, it depends on the enemy you're fighting and what the situation is (you getting caught vs catching an enemy for example)

And only one person not protecting the marksmen doesn't mean other people on the team wouldn't. Picking one person and saying they would've made the world's difference is not a good way to approach it. They can help, but again, it's more than one factor to look into.

Truly Prideful3 votes

I don't expect you to buy those buffing items for me, but I appreciate it when it happens. I guess I'm one of the oddballs playing the role, I expect nothing from my team other than maybe helping me out if the enemy team is diving on me constantly. Not a fan of when the solos ping me repeatedly and say "0 damage adc" if I have 3 people diving me 1 second into a fight and I spend my time trying to kite for my life with no help. Contrary to what the boards believe I will not win that fight.

What do you mean OP ? The main protagonist was clearly meant to be the anime super hero marksman and his egirl enchanter support. xd

Executioner2 votes

If a fed adc wants your red buff, dont you want him to have that?

When you guys are around level 14+ you should give out your red buff. Having that red buff makes your ADC potent as fuck.

GayFluffyUnicorn4 votes

Why would i give shitty adc players the red buff when i always come out with way more dmg at the end of the game on my jayce? Seriously, i know this meta and it sucks and adcs are very strong but anywhere below d3 you don't need your adc to win anything.

Athenes Lulu2 votes

this needs to be applied to everyone on the team not just adcs

looking at you half of boards lol

CaptainAntiHeroz2 votes

I like how adcs (when you're playing Leona or Rakan) support either A) don't go in for whatever reason, even when you ping your intent and have wards set up to make sure nothing interferes, and then when you die you tend to get flamed.... Or B) adcs that aren't xayah, like jhin or cait, expecting you to go in as Rakan and get blown up so they can get a kill from all the way back there, and even when you explain that Rakans e only gets extra range for xayah, and that means if you want him to go in, BE CLOSE ENOUGH FOR HIM TO GET BACK OUT

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

Or when they try to engage, then flee from a support who can save them, only to end up dying and blame them anyway.

Elkington VI1 votes

Riot balances the game around adcs, so you can't blame some of them for thinking that way. Champions are nerfed based on how much of a threat they pose to adcs.

Jeanne fan club1 votes

Uhh, yeah they are, and Riot has made that abundantly clear

aqours fanboy1 votes

In this meta? I sure HOPE you are doing everything to help your ADC. You don't win without one.

Mizaya1 votes

Leave it to gameplay boards to make anyone not an adc the supposed victim of riot balance

All ADC mains are toxic flamers who babyrage at their supp if they make 1 mistake and cry about anything that is able to kill them, I get it already. I mean I never do any of that and actually prefer my teammates do what they want, and other ADC mains I know are super nice people, but hey that goes against the spoiled brat ADC main narrative so it means nothing :)

For the past 3 seasons I thought adc players were mostly decent people, but now since everybody is spoiling them they are starting to act like brats.

Mizaya1 votes

I was somewhat toxic in s2, but reformed once s3 came around and don't see how Riot could make me toxic again by spoiling me? I don't feel like I'm entitled to anything more than I ever have been playing league. The idea that Riot could be telling a certain group of players that they deserve more than everyone else, to me, is frankly preposterous.

Here are two possible reasons why your ADC might be babyraging:

  1. When you pick a hypercarry and your team comp is focused on you as a win condition, there's a lot more pressure put on you to carry the game. YET, at the same time, you rely heavily on your teammates for peel and frontlining. This is the exact reason I prefer not to play immobile ADCs purely focused on maximum damage output, and this can cause a good deal of frustration for the ADC player.

  2. And this is purely speculation from me, but looking at all of these board posts, I just have to assume there are players going into playing ADC expecting a bit more than what they are realistically going to get. "What? I can't 1v5 and heal half my health bar every auto and 2 shot everyone at the same time! Bullshit!"

hsumis1ove1 votes

On a side note, does anyone else hate when the 0/6 xin zhou who has as much kill pressure as a janna (minus the shields) takes all his jg and buffs and he taxes lanes super hard while I'm 10/6 on Twitch trying to salvage the game?

Dominick Destine1 votes

Most ADC understand this. ADC need frontliners and support to properly function.

As a long time ex-Evelynn player, I terrorized ADCs for many years until Evelynn was finally returned to Eve tier.

RookPusher1 votes

ADCs are the Essos of the game. 4 of us taking objectives in Lane A, meanwhile, in Lane B, the lone ADC attempts to take on 1.5 waves of minions heroically.
