My Quick thoughts on Pyke
OK, so it's been a while since the reveal hit and everyone is talking about him. Kind of expected. And like everyone, I want to share my initial impressions with his full reveal.
Passive - A very similar Tahm Kench E passive but almost acts immediately when enemies lose sight of you rather than waiting out of combat for a time. This is an interesting passive for a champ of this matter. It does make sense since he shouldn't have a full assassin type passive, because he's suppose to be a "support", but it's also just odd to see another passive like this, at least to me. I'm sure it's to help him when after engaging in a fight or during the laning phase, but it can easily be countered by having vision in a bush, or at least I wonder how it will interact in that matter.
Q - Tap: line slow and damage. Hold and Charge: Blitz/Thresh hook that reels in enemies to a set distance (similar to Fizz's E). This is definitely the support aspect of Pyke. It gives CC if you quick cast it, but also allows engage. What makes this interesting though is the set distance. From what they describe, if you use the charge at close range, you fling the target behind you. That is actually a pretty cool thing outside of "Oh, launch projectile and drag enemies towards you only." You could have some cool plays of launching enemies into towers or allies.
W - Basically a non-permanent Eve camouflage and short MS buff. Will more than likely interact with passive a bit in certain ways but also great initiation starter and getting items like Duskblade ready (which he's suppose to reportedly build anyway). Not a bad ability and fits in fairly well.
E - Dash, leave a clone, comes back, stuns enemies in path. Mobility (ugh) but interesting to line up and predict enemies to get in it's path. Kind of feels like a reverse Shuriman shuffle if that makes sense. Actually, better yet it's Shen's sword but with a stun instead of attack booster. Really need to rely on positioning for this.
Ult - Execute in an X(?) and if someone dies, can cast again in a short window,** while also giving full gold and credit to last ally to assist!** Everyone has already been joking about it, but this is a pure definition of kill secured. Oh, an enemy is low and my ADC that's been tearing him down can't get to him? Ult, and give the kill to them. Yeah, you could easily take credit for yourself if you take them on by yourself, but this is a big thing. We've never had a champ that gives up a kill in this matter and gives it to someone else. Only thing I will say is why the X shape? We've only ever had this on Lucian and even then I still don't feel like it's that great of a shape so I'm kind of wondering why that.
Anyways, that's just my initial thoughts. I've never really been this excited for a support, let alone a champ in a game before. It's going to be interesting to see what he actually is like when he hits PBE and we see people trying him out. (Just please Riot for the love of god don't immediately buff/nerf him when he goes to live)
Take this what you will, but remember it's my opinion.
