Can we rename and redesign the "assassin" archetype

To, executioners.

They come in, pick off the stragglers, but lack power to 100-0 someone in a single skill cycle. Suddenly timing and positioning mean something to assassins again.

Since when did positioning not matter? if you're having issues then it means that you or your team is doing something wrong.

Since "assassin" became synonymous with "mobility"

here is a list of the champions in the assassin archetype according to riot

Zed Kha’zix Fizz LeBlanc Akali Talon Katarina Kassadin Shaco Rengar Nidalee (hybrid Artillery)

What does that have to do with anything? Your argument was that you think that assassins don't need to worry about positioning while I said you're wrong. So why are you listing off assassins?

it matters less because of mobility/stealth you out of position? no prob just blink to the right position

and 100-0 burst makes matter less as well Did you get close enough? yes? ok they now dead, no more need for positioning you did your job.

now if this burst could not 100-0 then things would get interesting because then you need to stick around till you can execute someone, which means stay close enough to be a threat but not close enough to be engaged on or track possible threat's to you to prevent this.

Many other classes already do this, like tanks supports and ad carries with limited or no mobility.

As a tank you can't simply waltz into 5 people and expect to live forever anymore, so you need to keep track of what to do when to gain maximum disruption at minimum health cost through zoning and cc. Carries try to stay out of tanks zone to prevent being cc'd, or obliteradet by an assassin whilst staying near enough to dish out damage.

I hope the assassin update will give assassin more reason to position and track stuff like other classes do.

Somehow there is this false perception of assassin being high skill cap because they track stuff but that's also very true for every class so this isn't a difference, the difference is that other classes don't have the luxury of slipping up on their positioning and succeed anyway.

Hopefully with the update and longer duration burst/assassination this will become a lot more relevant. currently its simply to easy to jump in and 100-0 without really giving any opportunity to be outplayed, it's very binary and currently completely lacks some of the aspects like proper positioning and tracking needed to succeed. Every other class already does this to a larger degree then assassins anyway which makes them imho the least skill full class, which makes cense because it explains why so many people play them, easy & low skill perceived as high skill, the noobs wetdream

Unfortunately sounds as if you're just not at the skill level where you understand how to counter these champions. Keep in mind that the games depths of tactics and strategies go beyond what alot of people in the lower elo even know about. I'm of course NOT trying to offend you but keep in mind that just because it looks like something is uncounterable, too strong, or too weak from your perspective does not mean that is fact. This is why riot doesn't use the boards for balance changes because there are too many inexperienced players who aren't knowledgable enough to know what they're talking about.

Moving on from that point. The only assassins that really fit your description are Leblanc and Zed, every other assassin has much more different strengths and weaknesses as well as little to no escapes. In high elo though those 2 assassins are very easily caught out by proper teams in the right situations.

Nowhere did i say that i do not know how to counter them.

It is just limited due to jump in 100-0 either you stun them or you die its extremely binary and there is the tracking of abilities but everyone does that so this in comparison to other classes/players doesn't make it higher skill cap since everyone does it. the fact hat mobility is high and burst is very fast makes positioning really a minor issue compared to the positioning other classes do which makes assassins imho lower skillcap then most other classes.

Personally i have no problems facing assassins as i know what to do, i often break them in lane and they become lackluster for the rest of the game anyway and even then ill stop their attempts.

Im just pointing out that in comparison to other classes their positioning matters less due to their current play style of jumping in and blowing someone up. Assassin update will change this, giving enemies longer times to react which in turn makes assassinations more risky therefore positioning will take longer thus more time to screw up which in turn will raise the skill cap which is a good thing imho.

In teamfights, as squishy, just group closely, so if an assassin goes in, your team can cc him before he can deal damage.

??? Timing and positioning has always been extremely important. And assassins should be able to 100-0 people in a single rotation. If you don't like that, learn how to play against them.
