Ok, GP really is stupid OP

I just played Gangplank top for the first time since the rework. I was against a combo top of Fizz and Teemo, so I was getting pretty much no CS and died twice during the laning phase. Yet, once I completed Trinity force, I was doing 2v1s with ease and ended up leading my team in kills and assists. Those barrels are ridiculously OP once you learn to use them. Heck, I didn't even upgrade my ult at all.

EDIT: Having to laugh at the downvotes despite this being completely factual. Must be players who can only win with freelo champs.

This is why Riot is nerfing his barrels of OP.

I dont get it, He has a super weak early game, a decent mid game and a really good late game. So I'm not seeing the problem here. If you want to nerf anyone it should be people who have no weakness throughout the game phase.

His early game doesn't seem weak at all. Thanks to his Q, he can get more gold than his opponent, and therefor get ahead earlier. Plus those barrels are great for zoning out enemies and you can cancel any CC you get with W.

Sadly I just can't agree with you, i've been playing a handful of games with him and his early game is by no means strong at all. His Q is powerful when it crits or strikes barrels. But early game barrels are extremely easy to destroy, take into consideration that his Q's projectile speed is on par with Leesin's resonating strike. A good gangplank will predict the opponent moving into his barrel range, but a melee can walk into the barrel and destroy it before the Q hits the first barrel and the chain reaction hits.

And GP has always had the CC canceling oranges, it's just that he's being played more now so it's annoying for some people who can spam cc or are cc reliant. I mean, I got ran over by a Tryndamere last game because he could spin into my barrels and destroy them before I could even Q the first one. While I admit barrels are a great zoning tool (if used right) but they're extremely predictable and can be baited super easy. And his gold is needed because let's be honest, he has no engage, He has no burst or kill potential until mid-late game. So that leaves his early game extremely lacking when compared to most other top laners.

I didn't say his early game was strong, just that it isn't weak. His mid and late game are pretty ridiculous right now.

Yeah, he's OP around min 30... oh wait the game ended 5 mins ago

I'm pretty sure you were fighting against a bunch of enemy top laners who doesn't know how to keep off from the piling barrel's range, or a Wood 5 Teemo who doesn't know how to last-hit your barrels.

But at any rate, GP's E is bound to get nerfed anyway due to excessive LCSplays instead of Vayne.

I would be incredibly depressed if a teemo's slow ass darts beat my 1000000000000 projectile speed bullet to the barrel.

Everyone seriously underestimates how hard it is to play the barrel minigame with the guy who has one of the fastest projectiles in the game.

when his barrels have a high arming time, it's really easy, even as a melee champ

I had my barrels last hit most of the time, but it didn't matter in the long run since 1 barrel chain is all you need.

I've 1v2'd top and won as Malphite before. I guess Malphite must be a super broken champion in desperate need of nerfs.

Oh wait, I was just against people who were dumb enough to duo top and leave the jungle empty.

Was that your first game ever as Malphite?
