So... which is it? Everyone complains that dying in 0.28 seconds is terrible, but then you talk about buffing the only two classes designed to STOP damage dealers from simply having their way... and everyone QQs about that, too. There is one simple truth, and only one:

Either

A: Tanks (and enchanters) are strong enough to do their jobs, and be monsters that keep the damage dealers apart via various devices - hoping for better initiation and team positioning.

Or

B: They are not strong enough to do their jobs, and damage dealers roam around doing what every they want.

Both cannot be true at the same time.

You complained about the Tank Metas and Enchanter Metas. (Which were itemization metas. Nothing to do with the actual classes.) They nerfed the items, but they still felt TOO HARD to deal with!!!!! So they nerfed the classes as well. But you people STILL needed ways to "deal with tanks" because they were "really hard to kill, QQ!!" You got Conqueror. Finally people complained they were useless, and needed to do more damage to feel viable, and you learned exactly how hard Tanks and Juggernauts were designed to scale if they ever built damage. I.E. Galio, Malphite, Alistair, J4 and others.

Now EVERYBODY does too much damage which illicits many a QQ, and any talk of bringing the old classes back to standing to start doing their jobs again also gets much QQing.

Pick one, or shut up. You can't just want your pet role to feel better, without having a challenge from the other roles. That's what a MOBA is all about. Every champion should be challenging to deal with in it's own right.

A major issue effecting the game is that riot always take the easy route rather than rolling up the sleeves and doing some serious balance changes during the preseason or midseason.

rather than dealing with ADC lifestealing which was completely broken at the time they reworked these items and it completely fucked toplane AA reliant bruisers which in turn lead to conqueror being added to the game

I prefer Defensive metas over Offensive metas but that's just me. I play burst Mages but even with Tanks I can still burst out the other Mage, ADC, or White Mage (Enchanter), while having CC to peel for myself and ADC/Support. I just feel their is more strategy with tanks and marksman around.

There's a middle ground to everything.

But what we want exactly is to nerf tanks damage wise. They'll still be very annoying to face in teamfights due to their CC, but they won't shit on you in lane.

And to (obviously) gut every form of sustained dps true damage

Imo, every team should have the holy trinity or at least a healthy amount of utility and damage combined to make up for interesting games.

In the current meta if you draft a team full of assasins and damage dealers, it's a valid team comp, but in the older days you needed the tank / utility / support pick

Well, see, this would work if League of Legends was played by exactly one person. But it's not. League of Legends is home to a bajillion different all people who have drastically different versions of the "proper" way League should be played.

  • You have Johnny Casual, who thinks Riot should cater to everyone Sub-gold and only balance around them. Assassins should also not exist.
  • You have TSM Kelly, who is a pro player that thinks the game should only be balanced around DIamond 1+. Assassins need buffs btw.
  • You have Yosef ARAM, who only plays aram. That's his gimmick. Like that's all he does. Assassins are trash on ARAM lul.
  • You have Lena Lore, who plays for the story and doesn't give two shits about the game. Assassins have deep lore.

Each one has their own ideal meta and each one will come to the boards to voice their discontent when things are bad in their PoV. The only people who are always on are usually the hyper dedicated who love league regardless of its state or those that quit years ago and take every new complaint as a fresh sign that the game is finally dying for the 8th time in its lifespan. (But THIS time it's real).

As someone who plays a burst mage i really hate the tank meta however this assassin meta we have now is far worse. every game is 2-3 Assassin with the game being over by the 10m mark.

Let's just bring the game back to late S5, after the item 1401 nerfs and before the Juggernaut reworks; tanks tanking, carries carrying, assassins assassinating, mages having actual build choices: in short, everyone doing what they are supposed to do, period.

why don't you just make damage kits not so 1 dimensional in their function and actually offer defensive bonuses themselves like other MOBAs already figured out years ago

and then we can phase out these shitty enchanter/tank designs entirely for a proper skill game

Even in tank meta...people still played squishy/assasin plays because they simply enjoy them more. What is Tank meta? Riot will return tank meta by giving Tanks more DMG,so they will have higher burst and damage then actually assasins. What we need to do is to buff DEFFENSE on tanks,not buffing their dmg (sejuani,galio,ornn) just to name a few.Buff theri RESISTANCE. Let them do what they should. Remove Zyra,Brand,Veigar,Pyke from bot lane.Since when midlaners became supports that are dealing higher dmg then ADCs while they have zero items? nerf the damage,and stop buffing tanks by giving them more damage. Just SIMPLY NERF the overall damage of BURST mages and Assasins. Don't forget the conqueror lmao.

Except the viability of tanks and enchanters isnt the sole reason for a 'damage meta'. A huge contributing factor is the new Runes system which straight up increased burst damage. Another factor is buffs to itemization that further increases upfront burst damage like item 3285 item 3147

in season 5 it was tanks and bruisers while enchanters were situational. infact youd sometimes get questioned "why janna?" bruiser itemization wasnt overloaded either and they either had to build some defence items or go full DPS.

You mistake the problem of a Tank meta:

The problem with a Tank Meta, is not that Tanks are able to do their original jobs. It's that they are now able to effectively kill any carry along with being the premier damage soaker on a team. It wasn't uncommon to see Tanks fill both the top, jungle and support roles in the game, and be able to kill any Carry they got close too, even fighters had problems with these guys.

Tank Meta isn't just less damage. The damage is moving towards Tanks being able to kill practically anyone but the most dedicated tank killers.
