What would league look like without runes or masteries?

I'm curious, or would this be too linear or something.

I'd really like it that way, only because everyone just picked the same stuff anyway and most runes are useless and are never used. -15% time dead quints, gp10 quints and seals, and crit damage/chance runes for example. Another thing that's bothered me is that it actually is already rather linear, being that no one uses ad glyphs or seals or ap seals and marks simply because they're made to not be ideal. .59 ap for a seal that can give me 1 armor or 1.3 ap glyph turning into .7 armor. The choices are constrained.

I'd rather there were no masteries or runes, and for their use to be as stat sticks if they had to stay. Ever since the introduction of keystones in season 6 there's always been an extremely OP mastery that dominated the game.

I'd rather if they did have a rune page, let it not punish you for going full damage or full defense, or it'll definitely be just another thing to spend ip on. As for masteries I strongly preferred the old ones where you had a large selection of things to choose from rather than just A or B. I almost never get the recovery mastery for example. I also don't get the savagery side. If I'm an autoattacker I get the attack speed mastery and if I'm a spell damage champ I get the ability damage increase. Pretty damn linear.

The game would need massive changes as League is currently balanced around the extra stats that champions are expected to have from runes and masteries. Jungle in particular would need to be completely revamped.

It would also kill build diversity on most champs since certain rune/mastery setups are needed to setup those diverse builds.
