what should I be doing with the first few minutes of my matches?

I've recently realised most of the time when I start a game, I'll either go to the tower or to help leash and just kind of sit around having some jokes with my teammates, spamming emotes and such. I'd never thought about it before but there must be a reason that there is a downtime before everything spawns and we start actually playing. What do all of you spend that time on? I'm curious.

There is tons you can do before everything spawns though it depends on what lane and what your team also wants to do.

ward enemy jungle

Ideally, you should plant a ward or two in the enemy jungle, or your jungle if anyone from the enemy team looks like they'd invade.

Otherwise, I just sit with my jungler and ADC and proceed to spam /j.

You can watch for invades. If you're not leashing go stand by/ward the other buff. If you're mid, go stand by the other opening to the jungle so they can't invade that way, and if you're leashing stand by the closest entrance (for example on blue side, and jungler starting bottom w/ red buff, if you're top, stay by blue and ward at around 1:30 ish, if you're mid, go stand in the bush behind red, and if you're adc/support stand in the tribush).
