qss for ap?

this just came up as i was playing a game as an ap squishy against malzahar. he's easy to counter people say. just build qss. but. there's no upgraded tier of qss for ap. the only thing is mercurial scimitar which is for ad. im not quite willing to sacrifice an item slot for a low stat item just for malzahar, so could there be an ap qss upgrade? its not like you can actually win a game vs malzahar without qss since if he ults you you're pretty much dead. meaning you can't 1v1 him. in teamfights whoever is carrying is just out unless they have qss.

Yep. A lot of people like to claim AP's got the best itemization simply because they have zhonyas, but it's simply not true anymore.

AD now has just as much access to cdr, has more defensive options, more pen items, and item actives that are just as good.

A lot of mages can disrupt Malzahar's ult with a well timed CC.

A well timed Ahri's charm, for instance, will cancel Malzahar's ult. Also, it's pretty obvious when he will ult you, since he'll get in your face.

Just don't pick someone without hard cc to go against him. Ahri, Syndra and Kassadin can pretty easily cancel his ultimate. And try not to get hit by his silence, cause if you're hit you're done. If his silence hits you just back away immediately.

An AP version of Mercurial Scimitar would be most likely broken and probable first-item-rush in almost everyone (basically anyone that doesn't have mana problems). Also, a tank version that APs could buy as a last item instead of Banshee would be impossible to balance for it to be useful on mages while not making tank champions broken.

you have a point with timing cc, but im going to be honest im too bad at the game to do that intentionally ._. . malzahars ult is about the range of his other abilities though, so i never know whether he's ulting or just harrassing. on kassadin i q'd immediately when he came up aggressively, but he instead just cast malefic visions, waited for my q to hit and then ulted. Im not sure but i think there's no windup animation on his ult, so i can't react fast enough. im suggesting an item with the qss active that instead of giving ad stats like merc scim, maybe gave another passive along with some weaker stats that is balanced for mages and the passive would be only useful on mages. A good passive might be if you cleanse heavy cc with the qss active it gives you a minor steroid for a while like some extra movespeed or ap so you can follow up after they burn their cc.

they (riot) are doing a AP update similar to the MM update. who knows what they have planned

you can't use item actives while suppressed, except qss. they gave it an exception because its mostly used while stunned or suppressed

Which is why you use it before affected by CC... or if the enemy team has a lot of hard CC you can use summoner 1

I don't think they would build an AP qss just to counter that 1 champion who you're not gonna fight in every game.

lots of champions have heavy cc that needs to be countered with qss. malzahar, warwick, sona, gnar, pretty much any champion with a long duration or teamfight changing cc. especially if you're a mobile ap champion who needs to stay at range to survive
