@Riot Introducing the "Pre-lock system" for champion selection

Darth Sidiouss··1 votes·871 views

Really sick and tired of people banning my champions when im first or second pick in selection so i came up with this.

**THE PRE-LOCK SYSTEM ** ~~~~

HOW IT WORKS:

In champion selection the 1st and 2nd player are given the option to pre-lock the champion that they wish to play. This lock prevents others on your team to ban your Pre-locked champion. NOTE: THIS OPTION IS FOR PLAYERS WHO FEEL ADAMANT ON THEY'RE CHAMPION CHOICE. Once you pre-lock you cannot change your choice unless the other team bans or picks your champion. ** WHY ONLY 1ST AND 2ND PICKS ONLY GET TO PRE-LOCK???**

  1. The 3 other players have the benefit of banning 1 champion while the first 2 do not, this gives a unification of benefits to all players on the team.
  2. If all players were given this option it would create this mayhem of choosing and raging over picks v.v

Player 1 Jax

Player 2 Jax

Player 3 Jax

Player 4 Jax

Player 5 Jax

UR WELCOME RIOT <3 Please up-vote if you think this is a good idea

EDIT: By some your opinions it seems as though you guys want to strip the freedom of a players champion choice ? its league of legends not league of who YOU want me to pick.

Strongly against this idea.

why not if ur choosing as first or 2nd pick why not have some insurance to prevent some asshole from banning the champion YOU wanna pick? and its optional.

MotrColt1 votes

because if everyone on a team shows their pre-game preference and the team has a clearly defined strength and flow to it except for 1 person who only plays jax, the team should have the ability to say no, you don't get to be selfish and pick for yourself and not the teams good.

Of course often times when I see this happens it results in that player trolling, but if they troll every time they do this they will slowly but eventually drop divisions.

The current system works better than I think your idea would cause it to.

This is the problem of the current system. 3 players after 1st and 2nd are given the option to ban champions, giving them more power over the overall team comp outcome. Wouldn't it be nice to know u CAN go who YOU wanna go. If your going to be 1st or 2nd your getting that champion either way this system just prevents a ban from your team, on the champion YOU wish to play, thats it.

Like i said, you are only focused on the individual when you should be focused on the team. It is a team game after all, If you only want to play 1 champion every game in the same role no matter what, make a custom game with some friends. Its a team game and thus it should be looked at as what benefits the team the most, not a single player.

If your pick is such that it truly helps your team, this should rarely be a problem. If it is often a problem for you odds are you deserve it, in my mind at least.

I play more than 1 champion but some people feel like going someone sometimes and feel adamant about they're choice. For not having a right to ban 1 champion , this can justify things for them.

Still looking at the individual. This is the only measure people have against troll teemo bots for instance. Team > Individual. Always

or just dont hover the champion if you think people will troll you. Majority of people don't ban other peoples hovered champions so this has no need to be implemented.

but then they possibly ban the champion you may want ... its a win lose situation

That's also going to cause a lot of people locking the brand new released champion in ranked when no one knows how to play against them or with them...it also can help trolling ("I'm playing X no matter what role I am"). Honestly, I think it's a bad idea....if a person bans your intent pick then they either aren't paying attention, just a jerk, or really don't think you'll get that champion and don't want to play against them.

thats why its 1st and 2nd pick only ive seen alot of scenarios where someone wants fizz or something and someone bans it like a jerk its just unfair to the first and 2nd pick.

This is a no. Then the first two will always lock troll and OP cancer champs.

Darth Sidiouss1 votes

thats the thing if they lock they are FORCED to play that champion

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

"I WANT TOP!!" "But your role says support....." "picks Ekko WATCHU GONNA DO ABOUT IT?"

So yea, no.

Darth Sidiouss1 votes

either way someone will choose another champion to troll

Yep, you technically improved unsportsmanlike conduct with this type of change. So no, the idea of preventing champion bans like this is not good at all.

Darth Sidiouss1 votes

When someone bans my champion that iam 100% gonna play and make clear about , nothing tilts me more than to see someone ban it especially if im 1st or 2nd pick , the bans alone add enough unsportsmanlike conditions.

Oleandervine1 votes

If a champ is cancer, it should bring banned. Simple as that. If you want to play cancer Fizz or Zed, that is shitty for your opponents, and I'm all for your opponents have just a great a game as you want. This is a bad idea because it forces the meta to be plagued with overbearing champions that are insanely difficult to deal with.

I tend to use this to my advantage though:

When I learn new champion I play normals until I stomp those, then take them into ranked. But ranked is harder, first few games with new champ are likely losses. Before new queue I'd feel bad about having my team suffer through it. Now, there is a simple solution I follow -- someone bans someone I pre-pick = I get to bring out a new champ, and don't feel bad at all for the team since they banned a champ I'm good at. I get to learn the champion, "normal" teams don't get penalized for it, and those who banned my pick get what they deserved. Those ban happen about as often as I am learning new champions, everyone wins :)

While the idea you are suggesting has good intent behind it I think there might be an slightly better way to handle it. Perhaps showing champion mastery over your intended pick in champ select could help? I dont think preventing bans could ever be helpfull to team moral, particularly if you dont get that pick and then have to play with 1-4 salty teammates.

Riot implementing this would promote disregarding the enemies' picks, which is something I don't think they want to do, since there is a lot of strategy that goes on in champion select.
