Is there a rise in AP nasus/E-max-first nasus?

It seems like Dyrus, Sirhcez, and (although he has a tendency to tilt and be stupid about things, he's still technically high elo) trick2g are starting more AP intensive builds and/or E over Q maxes with little regard to traditional nasus playstyles which revolve around optimal stacking.

It seems that the reason for this is a better early game and because it seems to be enabled by the ult changes, which ensures a beefier AP nasus (it arguably ensures a beefier AD nasus too, but the old passive which converted damage into AD was not conducive to AP nasus in any way whatsoever) to better survive against those that can gap close him.

These are just my theories and observations, thoughts?

It's not an AP approach really. The idea is to maximize farm with E so they are going double doran's rings with corrupting potion to sustain E spam and mana regen. then they rush TF and tank selling the double doran's and potion later for the traditional build. It slows the Q sacking but it brings Nasus into relevance quicker with his items so when he does farm no one can contest him.

It's been working for Quas and a few others in Master Tier but I am just wondering when other players will find a way around it to make it sub-optimal.

I guess its a trade off. So basically safer early game, but delayed stacking. Traditional playstyles had a very risky beginning but you had a chance of coming out at 20 minutes with a good 225-300 stacks. This playstyle usually has nasus coming out of 20 minutes with maybe 150 or so stacks.

It is the idea is to become gold and item relevant quicker so when you are able to stack it's next to impossible for the enemy to poke you out or stop you.

ive done this in a gold rated game at the start of the season, and absolutely obliterated the enemy team with constant sieging.

but if im not mistaken, we also had an illaoi on top. or it was an azir, not sure right now. but it was a really nasty siege comp.

its a fun build, that can work against the right teamcomp. but i dont think it works at any serious rating. i literally took my opponents off guard. poked the hell out of them, they laneswapped, and then poked the hell out of that guy, while the first guy who was gold starved lost the lane against my teammate too.

honestly, i probably should do that again at some point against a ranged top laner. its fun to make them eat their own crap now and then. they think they have an easy lane and shut you down, and suddenly its them who takes a load of damage every time they try to cs XD

Yeah this is becoming a normal build pattern in diamond and higher elo's. Quas, Sirchez and Trick2G are all doing it I guess. I think watching Quas is best as he actually discusses why he does things and build far less troll items over the other two.
