Is Transcendence ever worth taking?

The utility and stats of Celerity seems way too strong to pass up in favor of it, and Absolute Focus, even as weak as it is, is still stronger for the vast majority of the game.

Even maxing CDR with a mix offensive items like item 3285 item 3115 item 3100 item 3102 item 3157 for 80 AP

or item 3071 item 3078 item 3508 item 3087 item 3133 for 60 AD

Even with that kind of a build, it's still giving less than traditional full AD or AP builds while losing out on Celerity's boons or Focus's early strength

The only use I can seem to muster is on tanks or fighters who have good damage scaling but can't afford to give up defenses to build damaging items.

item 3025 item 3110 item 3065 item 3001 item 3083 giving 80 AP or 48 AD, though also doesn't seem worth an extra 120 damage on a spell cycle for losing celerity's move speed to position in lane, or again absolute focus's early trading power.

Even worse is with sorcery as the secondary rune set, which for tanky characters seems likely, it has to also compete with Ultimate hat, Manaflow band, Null orb, scorch, and waterwalking.

It gives you a free 10% at lvl 10 as well. So you do not have to build cdr. For instance on Brand item 3151 item 3020 item 3165 item 3135 item 3030 ( item 3102 or item 3157 ) would be 40% cdr and all the Magic pen possible Or Champs like Anivia that would Rather scale.... item 3070 item 3027 item 3003 item 3020 At this point the extra free 10% would be nice Veigar: item 3285 item 3089 item 3020 item 3157 item 3102 item 3135

It was more useful before they reworked AP items to have the Haste unique passive, because you could easily have a bunch of wasted CDR on traditional mages. I still take it on enchanter supports like Karma or Lulu who tend to max out CDR beyond 40% simply because of the items they buy.

I actually use transcedence :)

I usually take it on Nasus so that I can build FH, Tri and Spirit Visage. Not only that but you hit level 10 around the time you have sheen, kindle, and glacial giving you 40% at that time. Alternatively you could go inspiration/resolve and skip this rune all together then replace FH with Righteous Glory

The primary purpose is to get from 30% to 40%. It's also so that overcapped CDR isn't completely wasted.

Also, try it in URF. Especially on assassins or enchanters.

You waste the CDR inherent in almost all support and assassin items otherwise. But this can turn a standard Janna build into an extra 80 AP. And it's even more if you reach out for Luden's, as well as Ionian's.

Mainly meant to be used on supports as opposed to other laners. Being support you sacrifice damage for utility. With Transcendence you make up for that drawback. Although it's not a lot it's more than enough.

100%of the time all the time . It's a secret nasus damage . Nasus needs no ad to do damage . So build any AP item I prefer protobelt ,then build straight tank . Also take gathering storm. Enjoy your high damage q and high damage ult and spirit fire

Good on enchanter supports like Nami and Lulu. It's not uncommon for the rune to give me an extra 60 ap come late game.

I take it just to go from 20-30 or 30-40 CDR. The only time I get the AP bonus is if I'm stacking Zhonya's against a full AD team, in which case the price isn't so bad for a 90 AP/45 armor stat stick.

its prot worth it now for APs because ludens no longer give MS, and its pretty hard/awkward for APs to get MS now. item 3907 is not that good of an item

I use it on almost every champ lol as my secondary rune with ultimate hat.

I really like it on Malphite.

Great for supports since it's so easy to max out cdr with their items.

It's worth taking if you ever plan out your build to actually max out your cdr. Then it becomes worth it.

Over the same stats and movement speed from celerity?

Over the same stats and movement speed from celerity?

My take on it is that if you're never going to supplement the movement speed then it's not worth taking. If your build and kit doesn't interact with the movement speed then it's most likely better to take transcendence.

But players just need to look into it objectively. Will the extra movement speed help them? Is the enemy low on the dashes? Then maybe it'd be good to take. So who knows. Each rune has it's place for any and everyone's build.

You realize part of the benefit of Transcendence is getting 40% cdr faster, right?

Celerity only seems really worth it when you have a movement speed buff on one of your abilities. Otherwise you'll get around 5-15 AP from it(the 15 is if you're building a lot of movement speed items), whereas if you had Transcendence and 40% CDR with another 10% CDR item you'd have 20 alone from that. I take it on Katarina when I use the Sorcery tree on her, because her W movespeed buff gives me a nice bit of AP to work with on Celerity. You want to take it on champions who have some form of high movement speed buff, because otherwise it's not really as worth as something else. Unless you take water walking as well, and then it might be worth, but then you're taking two somewhat useful runes for their synergy to make them better over a great early game poke tool and a great late game scaling rune.

Katarina gains 90% decaying movement speed from her W, with this, Spellbound Orb(I never really take this item, but just to put it in perspective, and this is without the active), and sorc shoes, I get 22 AP when I use W in the river with water walking. That's with 90% movement speed buff on W. The damage portion of Celerity is really not that strong. To put it more in perspective, with Spellbound Orb 100% active, Kat's W, and water walking passive, I get 28 AP. I get 30 just from waterwalking at level 18(but it's obviously situational).
