the 5 "AD" buffs/nerfs to reaver, IE, and ghostblade on pbe

This obviously shows that the kids over at riot have no idea on what they are doing and are just memeing at this point. its so very sad really. i think they are blatantly trolling us at this point, i seriously do.

We think Ghostblade's a bit strong in terms of raw stats and IE/ER are a bit weak. We're adjusting all three slightly as a result.

At present 5 AD is our estimate as to the appropriate level of change. Using less appropriate numbers purely to avoid a meme seems like a really poor approach to balance.

Have you tried any internal testing with the movement speed ghostblade gives to ranged and melee champions, maybe reduce it by half for ranged just so you can reduce the bonus stats it gives from activation? Or maybe increasing the cooldown for ranged champions? Just curious.

It is 2stronk on melees as well.

I think ghostblade's active cd should be raised. This item has around 160% efficency when the active is up and there is no punishment when you use it just for mobility or escape.

You should adjust swain while you're at it

I still use the two armor buff to J4 from last year as a meme.

Is the AD really what attracts people to rush Essence Reaver though? Shouldn't you be messing with the CDR or the mana restore mechanic instead?

Also, have you considered that maybe the Ghostblade rush is stronger, not because the item is better but because the component is better? BF is a pretty terrible item (40 AD or 25 AD and 10% CDR/10 Armor pen?)

There's also the fact that you can buy Warhammer/Dirk and Boots for about the same price as a BF on its own.

Considering you go for ER for the CDR/Mana then nerfing that would create a generic high AD item. By nerfing the AD you are pushing it closer to its strategic niche.

They aren't nerfing the AD on Essence Reaver. They are buffing the AD while leaving everything else about the item unchanged. It will maintain the same strategic niche while being slightly stronger.

oops misread changes....

They aren't nerfing the AD on ER, they're buffing it. That's why I'm confused.

The CDR and the mana restore are both functioning competently, and they would be hard to adjust in small increments. We don't have to target them just out of principle. The AD is just as important to the item's functionality, and it is too low for the item to do its job. The item can get low amounts of AD as a small improvement, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Also, have you considered that maybe the Ghostblade rush is stronger, not because the item is better but because the component is better?

Both are true. Ghostblade is a superior item when it is completed, and it has a better buildup. It has everything going for it but 4-6 item scaling. That justifies a nerf, and the item's cost-efficiency when completed is a perfectly reasonable target.

Ghostblade's stats aren't the problem in my opinion. The components are just better, giving you more gold efficiency. And the +20 armor pen is just better early-mid game because Last Whisperer isn't a mid game item anymore, so Ghostblade is just simply a better option. The meta is very mid-game right now, making crit less effective. For critical strike to be worth getting, you need about 50-75% crit, and enough attack speed and attack damage to make it impactful, which you just can't get enough early. The armor pen on Ghostblade is also amazing on adc's considering most ad's only have around 40 armor depending on runes. If you want to push IE as a more popular item, then you need to make the crit more meaningful by either giving it more crit, or more damage, and 5 ad just isn't enough.

no one gets either of those two items for the AD, let alone 5 AD. 5 AD on ER is not going to make it look more attractive than the early MS, AS, and armor pen of ghostblade.

I'm ok with the AD nerf on the Ghostblade. That's not what makes it strong anyway. As long as they don't touch the armor pen and the activatable (i know that's not a real word but it should be) ability, since that's the only thing that lets marksmen do damage against Iceborn/Sunfire (two items deserving of nerfs in my opinion) champs.

They are nerfing ghostblade to detract from some of its popularity in hopes of bringing back IE and ER somewhat. Not sure why you think this is a terrible choice.

Why is Infinity Edge having less AD than mid game tools like Rav Hydra and BT? Oh wait this is like the Zhonya's problem

just remove stats and add Mana to ghostblade.
