the damage from rend IS that large, and it wont get nerfed. what theyre doing is basically a change of the tooltip. it will deal 1 more base damage until rank 5, where it will deal 2 less base damage per spear. and since theyre increasing her base ad, and her ad/lvl scaling, rend will effectively end up in an overall very slight buff.
with a hurricane in her inventory she can deal that damage to multiple opponents.
sentinels being destructable doesnt matter. their function is purely to grant vision, and they give true sight on a target they spot even after theyre destroyed.
your claim was, that kallista doesnt have much besides mobility. all i did was point out, that she has just as much as any other adc besides her passive. she doesnt lack in damage compared to them nor in utility for the mobility she has.
the problem is, overall not even the damage she deals, but how safe it is for her doing so.
im not saying to remove her passive entirely. im sayxing to put limits on it.
since theyre broken and need balancing.
What I meant by my claim was she needs her mobility in order to do damage she needs. Sorry for misspeaking.
Her rend isn't a tool tip change, it's almost a rework. Originally it added flat damage plus 60% AD on the first hit then added about half of that on each consecutive hit. Now it does half damage damage on the first hit and adds 50% of it's total damage to each consecutive hit. Let's say you you add 200 damage on the first hit (just as an example). The way it works now the next hit makes rend do 300, then 400, then 500, etc. After the change she starts off with half of that, so 100. THe next hit makes it 150, then 225, and so on. This is a lot less damage until you get a fuckton of spears, and at that point you would get killed by any adc who got to attack you that much.
Destructable sentinels matter a lot. They can't gain vision if you just circle around them and hit them. Just look at you mini map or, even better, your game screen and you can find them and kill them.
And now back to the main point. Her damage isn't safe. Her passive lets her maintain distance which many adc's are able to do. Graves, lucian, corki, vayne, and caitlyn can dash away from you to maintain that space. Some adc's aren't able to maintain space effectively but make up for it in other areas. Kogmaw and Jinx have insane range and damage to make up for their inability to maintain space. Most importantly, many adc's have ways outside of autoattacks to do damage. Graves and lucian have burst damage to kill their opponent before they can close in, and that doesn't even work all the time. Vayne has her w passive and e to keep people off her and finish enemies quickly.
Now back to kalista, how does she do damage? Auto attacks. Her q is fine but it doesn't do enough for her to rely on it. Her attack range isn't nearly as long as jinx or kog or caitlyn, and for her to have any source of burst she has to be attacking you for a countinous amount of time to build up rend stacks. ADC's are meant to deal damage for extended periods of time and that doesn't work unless they can keep themselves safe in the process. Without frontloaded burst, range, or reliable CC, she has no way to deal damage without someone walking up to her and deleting her unless she gets mobility. Limiting her mobility makes her useless the moment it runs out, and since adc's are meant to deal a consistent stream of damage, she wouldn't be viable if she "burnt out"
And her mobility is already limited in the first place. She's still hitable while she's moving. Even if you don't have point and click CC, anyone who is supposed to attack ADCs should have a gap closer. Predicting where your opponent is going to dodge is apart of hitting skill shots and every skill shot can hit her before shes even in range to attack. Hell, just using slows works wonders since it reduces her dash length. Kalista isn't that hard to deal, she's just a type of champ i think most people aren't used to yet since most adc's die the moment a bruiser walks close to them.
