I actually see a lot more discussion in the nerf vayne and nerf riven threads from people on the pro-nerf side. I never hear anything but condescending remarks from the anti-nerf side.
As for the other nerf threads, yeah they're pretty light on the open discussion.

I'm an independent game developer myself, but you don't need to be at all involved in the design of games to keep an eye on what's being going on in league over the years and notice basic patterns like 'small changes can have huge unexpected consequences', 'nerfing/buffing multiple parts of a champ significantly at the same time can create massive balance shifts', and more generally 'use a careful touch when balancing'.
The kind of suggestions people give all day on this forum tend to be just so massively ignorant about how much you can change without losing all sense of delicacy and control. You don't try and touch up a portrait using the same paintbrush you would use to paint your house, but that's the kind of nonsense you see.
Stuff like 'all you have to do is completely change the resource system the champion uses' or 'just double the ult cooldown' or 'remove their passive'.
When you hear these sorts of comments, you almost don't even want to bother talking because you know the person who said something like this lacks so much knowledge on how to design and balance a game that its not worth the effort.

"I'm so glad people like you aren't LoL designers" is not constructive. It's just telling that person that they are terrible at balance without offering anything constructive to the discussion.
"Hey, I think this idea is bad because..." is more appropriate. It's not attacking the person who originally stated their opinion, and will allow for more discussion.
Wicked Waffle2 votesFrom my personal experience, ~10% of the threads in G%B are legit. They have people who bring good points and arguments, discuss civilly, and are open-minded to discussion. Hell, if those 10% are found to be wrong in their argument, they actually have the manners to admit their fault. The reason why their ideas, however, don't make it to Riot is because of the other 90%. That other 90% are toxic bronzies who don't look at other people's opinions. From what I've seen on these boards, they are a bunch of little children (or, if they claim that they are 30 and have a job, mentally retarded and at an age of 7) who bring up zero valid points. You know what I saw on a topic right before I posted here?

This person didn't even try to give reasons why to nerf Fiora. Most likely, from what I can infer he got wrecked hard in lane and didn't know how to counterplay her, and thus came straight to the boards to whine like a little child. It's because the majority of the boards are dominated by these vocal, ignorant children that Riot doesn't listen wholeheartedly much to G%B. Which leads to the typical stereotype and G&B is filled with ignorant fools. You also have to note that it is the same people making these ignorant threads that are making these ignorant comments.

However some players are more childish in putting out their own opinion to counter yours, You should take it to yourself to be the Bigger person, and just ignore those remarks, because you and i know that they are not Sophisticated enough to pose an Argument without using Irrelevant Taunts.
