Veigar punishes people for playing well

Cloud273··4 votes·1,023 views

Oh, you somehow managed to beat me in lane? Killed me a few times? Well it doesn't matter because I outscale you and my ult scales off YOUR AP! And if you're not AP the burst is high enough that it instapops you anyways. So if anyone on your team did well (your adc for instance), they immediately become irrelevant in teamfights. And the stun is super easy to land. And if he somehow misses he'll just flash for you.

He blows people up almost as hard even if they aren't doing well, so the title of this thread is pretty invalid...

He's just a burst mage with a unique twist. Unlike Le Blanc, he cannot pop in, instagib, then disappear, since he has to waddle around manually.

I like to call Veigar's ult "The Communism Blast" because that's all it is, he's profiting off of your success and he could just lay around and do nothing and do so much damage to you by pressing R just because you're doing good and got some AP. It should be a skillshot at the very least, I hate these stupid "I click u and u die" type of garbage ability.

If he was as strong as you think he would be perma banned. Veigars big issue is he has no mobility

Whoopdy friggin do. One thing he doesn't have. And he usually just gets boots of mobility anyways.

He's extremely readable, as in he can only do one thing and you know what it's going to be. Banshee's veil really hurts him more than a lot of other champs as well. Your point that it is very hard for a mage to 1v1 him once lvl 6 is true even if the other mage won lane, but to get around this you should roam more and not bother fighting him 1v1. I typically build a spectre's cowl early when fighting him because that alone gives you enough mr and health to survive an entire combo from him if he flash stuns you or happens to get a lucky stun off.

Using 'q' to pop your banshee's is so hard. Most Veigars know how to do this, and then you take full ult damage. And he's not stupid. He's not going to focus the tank.

Actually it is, the only way he can Q of your banshees is if YOU decided to all in him, in which case he loses a large chunk of damage from his combo because he wasted his first Q. If he ever decides to all in you and wastes his Q before trying to stun then you can surely escape before he gets his stun off. If he ever just Q's it off without you engaging then your positioning is bad.

In which case any poke skill makes it impossible for him to catch you. And if you're up on him, get either a chalice or an abyssal depending on who you are to deal with his scaling. Or an hourglass. Or pick an AD champ against him.

What is exhaust? No seriously, if you end up laning against a veigar in ranked try taking exhaust instead of ignite. If you time it well it will render his insane burst useless.

If you don't want to do that then just stay away from the little bugger. Let the tanks take care of him while you focus the people jumping on your adc. There are many ways to play around veigar, if you are losing to him then you are not playing well.

You're right. We're all just bad. I mean, it's not like he's hard to catch because his stun acts as impassable terrain (assuming he misses, which he probably won't) and forces you to run around it trying to catch him. And by the time you do get close enough to him his team is probably there and he's peeled the tanks enough to kill them.

I mean its not like you shouldn't even try to catch him. After all you can see hes doing big damage so you gotta put those blinders on and tunnel vision him until he is dead. Tanks don't do damage, why would you ever want to focus the enemy team's tank first? Who cares if their tank is killing your adc, you gotta hunt down that veigar, the little bugger is op after all. :/

And he's not stupid. He's not going to focus the tank.

ahahahahaha, that's a good one. You low elos and your messed up prioritization of targets crack me up. The attached picture applies for ap carries as well as ad carries.

This is truth, you drop exhaust on him before he ults you and voila, his ult is irrelevent. Herp Derp

He is ONLY single target as w should never hit a spread out team. He is notorious for doing good against one person late but after that he has NOTHING to offer a teamfight. High cooldown on w and e, ult only once in a teamfight. Q is the only thing he has and no mobility. Choose orianna if you want a high scaling mage.

You guys are missing the point of this. I know it's possible to outplay veigar if played correctly. However, it's extremely difficult to dodge his stun simply because it's so large and there are multiple spots he can land it. And I don't think it's fair that he benefits from you playing well (if you beat him in lane).

no, it is actually quite simply to dodge his stun. It is called stop going so close to him. Seriously, part of the skills required to be good at this game is being able to predict opponent's abilities. You should have a rough idea of how far from veigar he can stun and keep a decent distance away from that. Only the tanks should be brave enough to venture that close to veigar.

And Veigar only benefits from you getting a lot of ap if you are silly enough to go close to him before he has used his ult on a different target. Seriously, wait until his ult is down before you try to kill him, its not rocket science.

No it's called he gets mobility boots and he catches whoever he wants. Or he'll just flash stun you.

Again this is a crucial skill players need to learn if they want to be good at this game. You have to keep track of your opponents summoner spells. If veigar flash is up, then his potential stun range is even bigger and you need to adjust your positioning to reflect that. If he flash stuns you then you were too close and deserved to die.

Same goes for mobi boots, you should be keeping track of your opponents items and understand that veigar can close the gap between you 2 quickly. You need to again compensate for this by staying even further away from him.

This is positioning 101 and an important skill to have if you want to be successful in this game. Pretty much any time you die as a squishy champ you were most likely out of position.

I can imagine you as one of the people who sees Veigar drop stun and continue running until you run into the wall, aka the only part that can stun you. stand in the middle ffs.

Poldy Scarecrow1 votes

He doesn't punish people for playing well but he does punish them for any mistake.

The stun is a better than most ultis as even in the centre he'll almost always hit you- if his teams around you'll die. Merc treads helps a bit escaping the stun and subsequent burst- but only if he's alone.

Burning flash to secure a kill is fair and it's already on long cd to begin with.

That said however, the scaling off enemy AP is ridiculous. I think he's a bit too strong atm but everyone seems to overlook it because of his low mobility.

Veigar isn't a problem really. Deny him CS and have your jungler gank a bit more often. The earlier you engage him, the better. Play aggressive early on.
