unpopular opinion: I don't like all the new spinny animations

Akali Irelia in particular

their animations I think actually make it difficult to clarify what is an ability, an attack, or some random ass twirly shit. Like Akali's Q sits in the ground afterwards, EXTREMELY similar to how Xayah's feather's do after she ults. But there is no gameplay purpose for the knives to stick in the ground afterwards. At all. All it does is clutter the screen with shit for the sake of looking fancy at the cost of gameplay clarity.

Imo Irelia's Q is next to impossible to track from how the animation looks, how the animation extends passed the enemy it hits, has an awfully similar auto attack animation/sound effect, and it's spammable, it makes gameplay misleading. Tryndamere for example, his dash is a consistent animation through and through, travels at a slower speed, makes a unique and obvious sound effect, and isnt as spammable. It doesnt mislead me to think I'm not in range, if he actually cast it and it wasnt just an auto attack, I can track where he will end up being to throw my abilities in retaliation. I find irelia difficult to retaliate against because half the time I can't click on her.

TL:DR, I think champs, new ones in particular, are getting animations that are misleading gameplay wise, just for the sake of making them look cool. Makes the game less fun to play, maybe more fun to watch. Maybe that's the goal, but that's speculation,

Also I'm not saying this as a bronze noob, I've played since season 2 and have been master tier and diamond for several seasons. The higher the tier, the faster the reaction times have to be, and the misleading animations delay my reaction times. Didn't know if anyone else had this thought.

Starting from the end of last year, this year is the year where Riot basically gave up on any notion of champion design and balance.

"Clarity, power budget, play experience? Who gives a shit." says Riot.

The Akali thing is just flavor from an aesthetic standpoint. I don't think it's an issue.

As for Irelia, her Q is spammable, but it's only single target, and only resets on a kill or use with her marking. Showing it extend a slight bit isn't a big deal, because you can clearly tell the only target she hit. Furthermore, it applies on hit effects, which may explain why it has a very similar sound to an auto-attack.

I have to agree there is a real lack of clarity in champion abilities lately.

I was at one point half-tempted to get a scripting program just to see the real hitboxes.

Riot could or even should make an option in settings that makes the game faster and more for performance, by getting rid of some particles and aesthetics, that is geared for those that want to get better at the game. while the other option is that there are more particles and aesthetic animations for those that play casually and don’t care as much for the gameplay advantages.
