What should I do if my Annie support starts with Doran's Ring?

It just really pisses me off when the Annie (or Morgana or Lux) on my team, start with item 1056 instead of item 3303

Worse yet, is when they proceed to build full AP and do not even care of purchasing item 2049 (or at least purchasing item 3361)

People apparently don't learn item's passives ¬¬

I dunno, play the game and stop complaining maybe? i mean if vision is really a problem then you can get wards/upgrade your trinket, i do it all the time on adc anyways.

No because unfortunately, Annie, Lux, and Morgana benefit sooooo much better from building full ap considering how much damage they already do while building ACTUAL SUPPORT (see Morgana 1v1 with frostqueen's and sightstone burst) because Riot made their base damage so high along with their ridiculous scaling that full ap helps your team more than supporting.

If their base damage is so high, then they don't need to build that much AP to do significant damage.

If you want to build an AP support, at least do it correctly: Start with item 3303, focus on cheap magic penetration and utility AP items such as item 3135 or item 3023. item 3001 is an amazing item to use on an AP support for that reason, especially if there are other AP champions on your team. And lastly, don't forget of item 2049. Yes, everyone should be warding. But I've seen some supports that use this as an excuse to not ward themselves.

Unfortunately most people don't listen to those advices, they just want to build full AP and **** off the rest of the team.

If I play Lux support, I usually buy item 3303 item 3098 and leave it like that, then sell it later on while building a lot of AP (including item 3089 ) because I think a second AP Carry offers more to the team than a hybrid AP Support. I also get item 3361 normally and buy item 2043 for clearing wards.

For some reason, I can't play correctly if I don't have a Sightstone, but otherwise I don't find anything particularly bad about starting Doran's. Sure, the cs'ing passive and lack of gold gen. make it inferior, but some champs need that extra bit of health and damage to survive.

If that is your reason, know that unless you manage to get first blood and snowball very early, then Doran was a complete waste of gold, and since you didn't had Spellthief's Edge, you will find yourself extremely behind when compared to the enemy support, assuming that they started with a gold generation item.

Also, these are the only real perks of Doran's Ring, as Spellthief's Edge is completely superior on every way. It generates gold, it has better mana regen, it is cheaper, and it builds into items that can be useful later in the game, while Doran's Ring doesn't build into anything and you have to sell it eventually.

Laners buy Doran's Ring because they are allowed to farm, and thus, they can compensate for all those downsides. As a support, you can't afford to waste any gold, and Doran's Ring is a waste of gold unless, as I said above, you manage to snowball early. If you really want health, buy a item 1054, since it comes with health regeneration, too.

Idk, I've only tried the build path once. I agree that Spellthief's is superior in cost, regen, and gold production, but I just don't think it's that big a deal if your support gets a ring. Sure it's risky but the extra damage and health is better than nothing. As long as I have a Sightstone to rely on, it's fine.

The passive makes spellthief do more damage on pokes. There is NO REASON to get doran's ring on a support. None whatsoever.

I think you should get out of low elo if you don't want to play with trash players in a trash region.
