Mages Dominate Mid Lane Because Assassins Are Awful Right Now

It's pretty simple. The thought that the entire Mage class warrants a nerf because they have been dominating Middle Lane in pro play for a while is pretty clearly because Assassins are just unreliable in pro play. When you give people a warning indicator/delay on every Assassin, it basically turns dealing with every Assassin into a boss fight that has a pre-made script you have to follow. Believe it or not, pros are really good at following this script. Assassins need to not have innate, no work around delays in their kit, and INSTEAD people just need to ward more and/or we need to have innate objectives in the map that allow people to be able to work around Assassins without just making Assassins into a scripted encounter.

It’s probably more to do with mages being blatantly stronger in ways assassins cannot provide.

Mages provide some utility where assassins do not. Those assassins that DO provide some form of cc tend to be ap because ad assassins are all about roaming botlane for a couple of free kills so they can go back midlane and repeatedly dick the mage there who is now 600 gold down and is building an item that is more expensive (unless they're going roa like most mages are being forced to do now just to survive).

Mages provide more for the team than assassins do , hence why they dominate in higher elos and pro play
