Its not even that. The boards have been calling for a Yasuo rework since day 1 of his release. In fact his feedback in PBE testing was voiced many many MANY times that Yasuo's gameplay design was horribly unbalanced, most noticably his double crit passive. Yet Riot ignored that feedback (like they always do) and released him anyway.
What we got was a champion who was horribly unbalanced with a kit that is near impossible to balance. I have said it once and i will say it again. In order to even begin balancing Yasuo his double crit passive NEEDS to be removed. Crit is one of the strongest gameplay factors in league second only to mobility and Yasuo gets BOTH for free.
Why it took a new ban system for Riot to finally see that Yasuo's champion design is fundementally wrong i dont know why, but it was the companies stubborn balance team that allowed Yasuo in his currently inbalancable state to wreak havoc on the game for so many seasons and i would like to see them take responsibility.
Removing x2 Crit on Yasuo means he builds bruiser stuff now that he doesn't have a passive that forces him to go crit.
Yasuo has situational mobility, which is entirely different in terms of strength and, as it's name implies, certain situations.
Riven get's free AD on an ability AND a passive, along with more mobility overall and WAY more utility. Do you realize how many champions have "unbalance-able" kits based on your logic? Please never suggest Yasuo changes if you think this way.
Is it surprising how your Lulu is banned in high elo for being strong? How Annie has a braindead low skill floor whether you like it or not?

How Annie has a braindead low skill floor whether you like it or not?
Thanks for making your argument completely invalid. [slayer-jinx-wink]
annie is one of the lowest skill floor champions which is the reason LS tells ppl to play her as there is so much less you have to focus on with annie you don't have to be mechanically good or anything but having macro play is key where as most other champs (not all ofc) micro is a big part of their success.
On the other note i don't find yasuo that broken unless you are actually mechanically really good to some pt the people who actually managed to climb with him probably deserve it as much as any other champ yasuo is way more micro focused if you wanna climb where as someone like annie is almost purely macro focused for climbing.
Hes passive probably isn't the biggest problem with a few tweaks i think it's more about hes dodge potential and low cd on q scaling with both atk speed and ad so he can life steal and dash in and out of hes wall to deny ability projectiles in the air and make them go on cooldown but all of that still needs high mechanical play.
on that note yasuo will receive small tweaks and i don't think hes passive will be changing with the updates as it makes him a bit unique and the passive can be balanced depending on hes other spells
Does small scale update translate to full blown rework? I think not. Clickbait content.

To be fair I think yasuo players would like to be able to actually play their champion. If he's just going to keep being banned until they change him then riot doesn't really have many choices.
force riot to rework yasuo: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/6g3asi/as_of_the_10_ban_system_yasuo_now_has_a_924_ban/dinmrbd/
Imagine what 20 bans could do? Or better yet, imagine a version of permanent nemesis where you pick your opponents champs but they can't be all support and have to be in their respective positions. I wonder what champs would get buffed then? Honestly, the boards are all smoke and mirrors. Why would Riot care what people say? Most people are cry babies around here and jump onto the forums when someone beats them in lane.
Yeah because the only JUST NOW decided to do this If Riot is announcing that they're doing a small scale update to him in the near future, it's because they've been working on it for a while now
