"Mages have been dominating mid for years" I am surprised this came out of someone who has even touched this game at least once in his life... If you are making changes to the game just for the LCS at least have the balls to say so dont just pull crap out of your ass and present them as facts.
"We've noticed that Ekko does well against mages when his abilities are off cooldown, so we're giving him the tools to engage more often." -An actual thing Riot put in the patchnotes.

Are you saying its not true? When was last time u saw assassin in pro game mid lane? It has been only mages for years. Taliyah, Ryze, Vladimir, Syndra, Orianna, AZir,Cass,
So they nerf mages because they can clear waves easily without the need of mana items?

Also, I suppose auto attacking doesn't cost any mana but is a good way to clear wave easily, especially when you get 
I can understand mages like 
who can pump out 800 damage q's after 3 items can be busted, but its really just limited to him, 
and 
who can pump out near-adc damage in the LCS. Its not even because of their waveclear that they are picked in lcs, it seems that they are picked mostly because they can keep up with adc's.
I mean they are focusing on trying to create variety in midlane when bot lane is legit the same handful of adc's each game. I miss morde and ziggs bot, those innovations made bot lane fresh and fun. Midlane already has a decent spread of champions, and the only reason many of them aren't seen in lcs is because either they cant keep up with adc's, they don't have enough utility to bring to the table , or they just aren't good into organized teams(

Just going to put my 2 cents in here and say that I think these changes are actually for the better. Here me out. I think their reasoning is poor. But Lets be honest in the LCS its basically been ori,syndra,cass,ryze,taliyah,vlad, and azir for forever. I think that people are thinking that these champs should just be nerfed but what riot must have noticed that by doing this it makes these S tier mages less of a generalist. I think that's the main issue here. All of these champs don't excel at one specific thing but are decent-good at everything making them more appealing to pick then other mages. I think this change will make it so that these champs are less generalist while not just nerfing these champs then falling into the same issue with the next tier mages that take their spot. I think riot is just trying to make mages less of a generalist (can wave clear, teamfight, skirmish, etc) So I'd like to see these changes on live before i judge and see if my thinking is right.
