Because they know without Sated Devourer they can't do jack shit with the three kinds of damage they put out.

Yi can build tank now. That is unacceptable. Full dmg Yi still isn't a problem, but RN Yi can build tank and still deal damage....

Sated devourer is pretty broken on most champions. The only thing keeping them from nerfing it is because you have to farm quite a bit for it, making it a late game item so your early game is pretty garbage.

Certain Champions can use it to great effect early game. But Yi is definitely not one of those champions. And the reason behind that is Devourer by itself is actually pretty stat efficient, except that AS is a poor stat to rush in most cases. Shyvana on the other hand gets plenty of on hit damage from her burn out that scale immediately with the AS Devourer has. That's why she's so hard to deal with in all stages of the game.

Personally, I don't like either of them. Yi really need to reach a late game point to be effective, and Shyvana is too reliant on her ult of engages. Even with Devourer, you have to do your job as a jungler and team player. So rather than find the champ that Breaks Sated the most. I find the best Jungler, who can go sated. And I find one of those Junglers to be Jax. Because his Couterstrike makes him fairly good at ganking, and also allows him to duel better than most of his counterparts.

But isn't that the idea though? Arn't most AS Junglers good duelists? And isn't that what they want to be doing anyway?

It's not like Devourer is actually unbalanced compared to the other items. (And I won't say one way or the other) It's just that we hate late game duelists. YoloQ can't coordinate to snowball a lead before the enemy becomes sated, and then they can't close out a game early. If you could do those things, late game scaling wouldn't be an issue.

To be fair, a lot of the sated champions weren't op and were underpicked and out classed by so many people that it was just preference to play them without any actual improvement.
