[Poll] Do you like Ardent Censer meta?

Athenes Lulu·11/2/2017, 9:17:03 PM·14 votes·2,663 views

I know the results are already pretty obvious but still an honest question.

As a support main since season 3 whose champion pool consist of enchanters, I hated it inside out because the moment you stray away from the strict "rush Ardent Censer very first thing", you're on your way to a free loss and might as well brand yourself as a troll. I know enchanters (except for Janna obviously) haven't really been deciding the meta for years and that season 7 was their turn to shine, but requiring a rather brainless item to be extremely broken just to make them meta is dumb as hell. Not to mention it throws skill expression out of the window.

I can't speak for everyone, so feel free to discuss.

I didn't like it, but I liked it more than the times where it's Thresh and Blitz every game.

My favorite meta was the Cinderhulk meta. There was actual variety, teamfights lasted longer, the game wasn't stale at any point. The Ardent Censer meta made the whole beginning of the game bland, and then the end of the game was even more bland, with ridiculously short teamfights that have no variety.

I mean... This has as much sense as making "Do you support rapists" poll. Only trolls would say "Yes" If you asked this is Support Group for Rape Victims.

I wouldn't care about ardent censer being overpowered if it wasn't for adcs. I hate adcs and want them out of the 100% metagame. Sooo I guess I like the fact it was nerfed indirectly nerfing adc's, but I still would rather have adcs weaker themselves, not supps being weaker. Though I guess ardent censer being powerful crowded out all the non enchanter supps so the nerf was kidna justified

I am a support main, and I don't think the problem is with Ardent Censor. The problem is with the gold income from the Ancient Coin line, and the lack of gold income from all other support items. Tank/playmaking supports would be viable against an Ardent Censor team if you were able to get the tank stats from the Relic Shield line, but also keep your income high enough to keep purchasing items at the same rate as an Ancient Coin user.

Mid-to-High Platinum Support main here.

Don't like it. Overall it offers some of the easiest survival in the game with barely any skill involved.

Shields in general, from a balance perspective really need to be looked at.

If it was harder to shield allies, or the shields didn't offer quite so much protection, I'd feel much better about it. A lot of the problem has to do with the big support picks right now, Janna needs to be gated by mana, and Lulu needs a minor nerf/tweak.

Close follow-ups involve Karma / Taric / Nami - I think they will be in a much better state post-ardent meta. (Karma sleeper OP, and I predict she will be one of the dominant picks this new season)

While the state of ADC was a little problematic during the ardent meta I really liked the botlane as a real synergy duo lane instead of two champions playing next to each by accident. Enchanter+Carry is just THE classic Bot I'd want as the classic Bot comp. And engage or DMG supps only as counter/niche picks.

But well - Riot wants to 'rotate' the Meta... so they have no interst in actually balancing things out. ^^'

Nope, it's made me almost quit the game for this season.

Daxanater11/3/2017, 4:53:29 AM1 votes

probably the worst meta of all time to play in. boring as fuck with 0 skill involved.

GripaAviara11/3/2017, 12:20:26 PM1 votes

Ardent is trash now as an item. Is like people project all their frustration in that item. It;s OP on worlds patch, but now... c'mon

Was the worst meta ever. Finally recovering EVER SO slightly... Waiting for Janna E nerfs and tower buffs though....

i like ardent censer as much as i like the tank meta..... not i must say last meta's were a failure in my opinion.

I liked it because the autofill supports wouldn't pick Lux and try to carry, they'd pick Janna and actually be a support. It's sad that it took the item 3504 meta for autofill supports to actually try to support, but tbh there should be better ways to do that than 'make support items stupid crazy scary broken' tbh.

ardent censor meta is over, pal.

Did I like it? No, it was boring to play against and with.

The end.

I like the game revolving around adc so I can just play Talon and shut any adc down and win :)

SwiftKitten8811/3/2017, 12:37:39 AM1 votes

i think this poll is bad. i secondary support. and one of my support IS Lux who i am lvl 7 as playing her solely support

but you know PROPERLY as a SUPPORT

i built item 3504 on her way back in 2014 and i have ever since

http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1675914875/207008136?tab=overview

i did horrid that game but yeah... match history wont let be go back any further than that so thats the only 2014 game i have as proof

and u can actually see the different state ardent had none of this "on hit damage" or + shields just attack speed.

and certainly not that bullshit "heal on hit"

this was a MUCH weaker ardent censer and it DOES need the 60 ap and the attack speed

buti think if they just completely removed the damage on hit and just bright the attack speed back to 25% it would be FINE.

ardent censor WAS certainly OP, but ADC's and damage creep have been the real issues.

I'm going to say yes, but not for the reason most people are thinking about: it's nice to be able to rush a non-sightstone item as a support for a change. Sightstone is basically an item that scales with how well your team is doing, so rushing it first on a gold poor support is a risky proposition. If it had better stats in case your team sucks, I'd think more highly of it, but for now it is what it is.

I use to main support, and i have a tendency towards supporting roles in RPG games (yes league is by definition an RPG game), be it healing, buffing, or even tanking in the more traditional sense. Can't say that i really do it anymore, because even with Ardent Censer, the whole role has been pushed to favor aggressive play far too much imo. And i use to main zyra support!

Ardent Censer meta just gives the aggressive damage dealers, which you're supporting, more power if they play more aggressive. So, idk if i could consider myself a support main anymore, but I do think that the Ardent Censer is just another force pushing towards a support play style which I find completely unappealing.

Raoul11/3/2017, 1:32:32 AM1 votes

It just shows again how little supports actually mean in this game. You literally pick a support for ONE ITEM so the ADC (already the most broken role in the game) gets stronger. You are literally just in the game to buff the ADC, nothing else.

But hey, its supports that are op, right?
