The reason why /mute all exists

Subject 5··1 votes·898 views

Is because Riot won't let people backlash at dickheads in the game.

Literally just got out of a game to hear the people I muted flaming the living fuck out of me. Muting doesn't carry over into the lobby so while looking into graphs I get to listen to Mundo and Darius tell me how much of a fucking scumbag I am. I didn't necessarily perform poorly either, it just so happened that I was playing Pyke and the enemy team had 3 Zhonyas.

Riot shouldn't make people feel defenseless like this.

Why did you even bother reading it? Game is over, no reason to stay in the lobby.

Maybe I like to talk in the lobby, or maybe I should also remove that feature from the game too? If somebody is muted in the game why not make it so that I don't look at all of the information in the game, glance at chat and just see an asthma attack of a cancer in the lobby. I don't care if they get banned or not, this should be a feature.

Honestly I think that’s too much. You can simply ignore the lobby.

Why do you think it's too much to mute a person in the client and then have the mute go from the client to the lobby?

Because in a game who cannot walk away from them. So you’re able to mute them in order to push through the game without listening.

In a lobby, you can walk away without consequences.

Alright I should start flaming people in the lobby and not the game then, they can just walk away without consequences. I mean they don't need the lobby for anything but looking at statistics anyways. Riot doesn't even record lobby messages, so I can take harassment to the extreme without actual consequences if I wanted to. [zombie-brand-clap]

Well beyond reporting them there is little reason to give them piece of mind when you can walk away.

If that was the case, why do people flame? You said yourself no consequences so why wouldn't I just go ham in the lobby and make it the most cancerous place to be with no ability to mute people.

Because you’re still liable to be reported.

When I said no consequence, I meant that you can leave with no consequence. Not like in game where you can lose LP.

Reporting in lobby isn't a thing and you can only send 200 characters to Riot in a report message. If you send lobby messages, they aren't COMPLETELY true because I can just type the messages. I could even copy and paste the message, then tamper with it.

So no, there are no consequences in-lobby. Multiple reports mean nothing, Riot has stated this very clearly. Even asking for multiple reports can get you banned for 1-2 weeks.

I mean, if someone calls you a %%% in lobby or in game, they both fall under the same category.

Whethe punishment happens or not is a different story.

A law without a police officer is not a law, it's a suggestion. You can't be punished for not following a suggestion.

So I find no reason to just start using racial profanity and hate speech in lobby like most of the playerbase does.

Or.

OR.

We impliment a mute button in the lobby that works for the game AND the client. Now that's an idea.

It just seems unnecessary when you can simply walk away in the lobby.

Flaming seems to be the best option then.

I mean you can start flaming and then get banned and we would all be happier for it. The report option still exist. No idea why would you want to stay in a lobby where people are flaming you though. You just report and move on... which seems something that nobody ever wants to do and instead look for every single excuse in existence to be douches themselves

I think you missed the part where you can't be banned in lobby for flaming.

Though . . .

Lobby chat logs exist, you can be banned for being toxic in game or out of game. You can be banned for sending toxic messages to people on you friends list. Riot tracks literally everything, and is able to review/see any chat transmitted over their client.

Dunno where you got the impression that lobby is like some sort of mythical international waters/safe zone.
