this is probably going to get some hate, but i find her character design terrible. her kit looks fun, but both her champion title and visual design are downright retarded.

the concept could have been salvagable if she had robot legs that looked similar to a real life prosthesis and had a practical form in general and transformed to sharp blades on auto attacks (kicks) and abilities. that would have been cool.

yes.

its easier to accept a fantastic construct like magic existing as an element of the story, and then the characters behaving naturally according to this element existing, since it is simply not relatable to anything in the real world. there are no rules youd expect magic to follow. so it is easier to accept that it could do something like transforming a teddy bear into a gigantic burning monster.

however, the idea of technological prosthesis is too close to reality to not have certain expectations of them.

suspension of disbelief breaks, when you design a woman that would obviously get stuck in the ground at the first step. not even talking about her ability to keep her balance on the surface area of the tip of a knife, while running and fighting.

it is much much more simple to introduce something like magic as a story element, than to introduce something more relatable to the real world like prosthesis made out of swords attached to a womans legs, and just accept a fatal design flaw.

camilles character design is simply between too ridiculous but not ridiculus enough.

vis rocket firsts are basically power armor. its not something thats unimaginable. someone walking on sword blades kindof is.

physical limitations still apply to a machine. make a mannequin with sword legs and put him on soft ground (or anything that isnt solid rock). watch what happens. especially when most of the material used is heavy steel.

and i dont think shes entirely a machine, right? as far as i understand shes some form of hextech cyborg. only the lower half of her body is mechanical.

either way, its the same argument really.

Well there's the answer then. Hextech is a combination of magic and technology, so who's to say she doesn't get stuck in the ground because of the magic?

i know its a lot, but really read through the post above please. i explained it.

Dextix LT8 votes

You explained that magic is ok, in my response i also mentioned magic (Hextech is the combination of magic and technology).

So, who is to say that her legs are not enchanted? Magic is ok, so where is the problem, if this can be explained by magic?

Monsta Moo1 votes

Pretty much my thoughts as well.

Dextix LT2 votes

Your justification is that magic is okay since it is not relatable to the real world, sword legs are not okay because they are relatable to the real world (Spoilers, they are not).

Again, fantasy. This is not science fiction that still has to rely on at least bit of science. It is fantasy. Metals and techonology that does not exist in the real world, paired with magic.

I can easily have many justifications for the sword legs. Magical enhancements, superlight yet strong materials, special construction that stops the swords from sinking.

And sorry to say, but power armor, is currently unimaginable. If you have problems with this champ, then you should have problems with many other champs in the game, if you do not, then you are simply a hypocrite. I can point out at least 30 different chammps that are in some way unrealistic (Without magic involved).

Keyword, is fantasy.

there is no relatable concept such as magic in the real world. hence there are no expectations you would have of it going into a story.

what it is, what it does, and how it behaves is entirely up to the interpretation of the author. he can make up his own rules to which the characters in the story adhere when interacting with it.

mechanical sword legs however are something entirely different.

im trying to think how i can explain the problem.

lets take an example like Blitzcrank

within the story (or the game world) we can easily accept that something like a sentient, magic powered mechanical construct like blitzcrank exists. why? because were not going into the story with any expectations how magic should behave.

now imagine he had trianagle shaped tires. would that make sense within the frame of the character and the world he exists in? hell no. it would be stupid, because it would be impractical. you cant drive around on triangles.

we can accept that something like a magic powered robot exists, yet wed still expect him and the world he lives in to follow certain rules. like hed still drive around on round tires. because the concept of a car, or movement on wheels is something we can relate to and that exists in the real world.

we can accept that mythological creatures like Nami who can manipulate water by magic exist in leagues world. yet it would be hard to swallow if namis water attacks were to set enemies on fire. because despite even magic being used, we have certain expectations to what would happen if you were to get hit by a large wave of water.

the same goes for camilles stupid sword legs. its one thing to accept that a hextech cyborg exists in league who uses robotic legs to attack his enemies. its harder to accept her running around with two pointy swords as her legs and not getting stuck in the ground.

yes she would. lets say she weights as much as a normal human female. and not more than twice as much, because her entire lower body is made of steel. when she steps and puts her entire weight on the surface area of a knifeblade, it WILL sink into the ground. anyone who has a rudimentary understanding of physics should know that.

the same would happen, if you managed to stand on a tent spike with your entire body weight. in fact those things are easily pushed into the ground just by stepping on them in most cases. ive done it myself.

You must not live anywhere near mountainous terrain where within the topsoil and slightly under there are many rocks that prevent those spikes from going in without the use of a sledge hammer and replacing them multiple times. If you look at the map, there are rocks all over the ground, poking through the surface, and jutting up to form walls.

Where does it say her lower half is made of solid steel? It's only implied due to the name of the faction she allowed to augment her body with Hextech technology.

Have you seen Elise's human form legs? They're no different in shape, only material. But we dont know for certain that the outer layer of her feet/legs are not made of a non-porous, rigid material. You aren't arguing that she would sink?

The Space Cowboy1 votes

Elise spreads her weight over 8 points. However being an exoskeleton creature of that size she would probably have some issues. I hope she has bones left over from her human form or she would collapse under pressure.

Nilok4 votes

Exoskeletons do exists, power armor does not. We are on the path, but we have a long way to go, especially in the battery department. Until we develop high power micro batteries, they will remain a pipe dream.

Sraeg20131 votes

Unimaginable - too extraordinary or improbable to believe

Whenever power armor does exist or not is meaningless here.

Nilok2 votes

The reason it is unimaginable is because you need an energy density to run the system and carry all that armor, the exoskeleton, the weapons, and the human in the nuclear range. You would need either a micro fission (like in Fallout) or a micro fusion reactor. The kind of battery you would need would have insane energy density, to the point of it being a bomb if it ever ruptured due to how reactive it would need to be to have that much potential chemical energy.

How probable would would it be to see anyone approving a portable nuclear reactor to walk around?

Sraeg20131 votes

Yes, with the current technology.

That doesn't mean in 10 or 20 years there won't be a better solution.

nope, sorry but thats not believable. i can accept why hextech magic can make her legs move at her will, as it has been established as a thematic replacement for robotics and complex computers, aswell as serving as a power source for machines in leagues world.

it would not explain why a person standing on pointy swords wouldnt just sink into the ground.

but the concept is in my opinion poorly executed and at the same time wasted. it would look much cooler, for example if she stood on more realistic mechanical prosthetic legs, and as her auto attack animation she would perform rapid high kicks with one leg, while standing on her other leg.

think about chun li from street fighter.

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/streetfighter/images/d/dd/Chun-mvc-kicks.gif/revision/latest?cb=20091124044136

the leg she lifts off the ground transforms into a sharp blade for the kick, and then transforms back into a "normal" leg on its way down.

imo this could have looked so much cooler. the animations for her abilities and attacks could have been awesome while not make the concept look stupid.

lmfao. it's not turning into a sharp blade. They're animating movement that is too fast to see. Do you think Goku legit turns into a flash of light and lines when he "blinks" to a new location?

On that note, i hope camille gets a "Ninja" skin where she has real legs and actually kicks. Honestly having her be a ninja would have made a lot more sense; we dont have any "fists of fury" type melee champions in the ionia roster.

Zorae422 votes

I also think the design is a bit silly, but it's not beyond the suspension of disbelief.

Balette dancers literally run, jump, spin, etc on just the tips of their toes. So it's definitely possible for her to balance on them (especially if you handwave gyroscopes somewhere). And, it seems like most of her attacks are slashing, so the tips don't necessarily need to be sharp.

Finally, forcefields are a wildly accepted thing in this game and sci-fi/fantasy in general. Just assume her hextech prosthesis generates a small, imperceptible forcefield around the tip of her blades while she walks.

Boom. More surface area, no sinking into the ground, protection for the blade tips, and even the ability to not mess up people's floors!
