Am i the only one who enjoys different play styles on the same champion?

What i mean is the ability to have a sometimes cheesy, sometimes equally powerful but always different, build where you say build AP instead of AD?

Generally this is a result of a champion having a single ability which scales with a stat they don't normally build. A few examples being

AP AP (even though he was insane because resets) AP AD AD AD

Unfortunately riot seems to be removing or homogenizing the game play between the two builds. Personally i'm beyond pissed about this recent malzahar rework and the complete removal of any game play diversity on him.
