Real question: When Vayne was made was she intended to kill any champion in the game with 3 autos?

I know she was made to be a tank buster but in a design standpoint Vayne just exceeds expectations.

I still feel like her w damage does more than it says on the tooltip info.

She could have no last whisper item, have some what reduced attack speed vs 300+ armor, auto me for a couple hundred vs 4k hp, proc the supposed 12% and my hp goes to 50% despite her weak aas that did trivial damage. Even with botrk and masteries it just don't seem to add up.

She was intended to auto win the game at a certain item threshold at which she will , yes , 3 hit most non tank champions in the game with just point and click afk clicking.

Thus why she is left "weak" or without any buffs for so long cause even Riot knows they created one of the most toxic champions in the history of league of legends.

Im sure marksman mains are already typing their paragraph though

I remember in S3, right after the big Vayne nerfs at the time, I played a normals game, and there was a Vayne on each team. Game was clearly all lower skilled players, including me at the time, and dragged out to 45 minutes, and I witnessed a teamfight where each Vayne started killing everyone, 3 shotting the squishies, until they eventually got to each other. This was before statikk shiv crits were a thing, only PD existed. So yeah, it's nothing new.

Does vayne needs a nerf ? no . Is she frustrating to play against ? yes , but not as much as Yasuo who's got a great laning phase and excellent scaling and three shot anything late game like vayne .

Unless he gets relevant by ganks, someone as simple as Darius can shit on his dreams until he manages to farm laning phase' sorrows away. The issue is when he manages to get IE, PD, then LIFESTEAL, where he can be a problem for said-Darius.

Yes, if u are squishy. Jayce can empower shockblast for half HP on squishy. Cait can drop half HP of squishy if it steps on trap... Read thread name again.

Yeah the problem with it is that you can dodge Jayce shockblast and cait traps. You can't dodge the Vayne tumble AA that's going to chunk you harder than most assassin abilities.

Plus, vayne's niche is tank busting. Because of this, she should be awful at killing squishies.

couldnt have said it better myself. Also to add that, jayce's shockblast, while it is kinda absurd midgame with lethality , by the time its 35 mins + it barely does 5% of a tanks hp and barely breaks an adcs BT shield for around 20% of their hp gone after breaking it.

5% is very not true unless the tank is fed by 35 minutes or has >average kills/gold. 5% of 4k is 200. 5% of 3k is 150. Shockblast does nowhere near that little on a tank at 35.

She IS awful at killing squishies as far as raw dps is concerned...

...early in the game. Later she's super strong, but she's a hyper carry so that's just how it goes.

Vayne has an extremely low attack range compared to other ADCs. Yes, you can dodge the abilities listed above, but you can also have better positioning when playing against Vayne and abuse her low range.

Her niche is more dueling rather than actual tank busting. Were she geared towards that she would be more like kog'maw. But we all know that on hit is more terrifying anyways.

3 crits in a row would be 2.5k+ hp I believe, with how her 1 Tumble and her %hp proc works - squishies have generally ~2k without HP items.

Not to mention Tumble itself can crit which gets nutty when you factor in that tumble multies that extra 70 AD in the equation

Yeah cuz the reason it feels like she three shots is because she has items so she's already chunking you that bonus on the third is just the nail in the coffin

She was intended to make repeated use of her passive; it's just that the damage in this game is so off the charts that either her or her targets are usually dead before she gets to proc her passive once. But it's flashy, so i guess that's ok...

I think it's worth mentioning that Riot recently attempted what many people considered a massive buff, which was allowing her to get % of health from targets she killed, but it seems players didnt see a massive nerf too, she lost crit from her Q. That change was scrapped, but Riot intends to take away crit from Q, but they need to find where else they can put some power.

Her Q never criticaled to begin with, so not a nerf as much of a revert. You also forgot she got a massive buff a while ago, to her silver bolts, going from 8% to 12% maximum health true damage.

also as far as i remember that silver bolts "massive" buff was also a nerf to base damage, it became stronger against tankier units and weaker against squishys

Buffing her in general was a mistake after preseason 6 buffing all her items.
