How to beat darius in lane as a melee champ?

Need some honest tips. Hes easy to spank if you play ranged, but as soon as you play melee unless you can somehow burst him his passive is makes him too strong to 1 v 1 any time in the laning phase.

2 things to make is easy.

  • bait his pull. His pull gives him a certified free damage and 5 stacks. Without it you can trade easier.
  • when he uses q, don't dodge outwards, but towards him if you plan on fighting him. Free damage for you/Less damage for him/no stack/he doesn't heal. A Darius who doesn't hit Q is a sad Darius.

My man.

Yorick doesn't like it if darius gets close to him in the early game but when you got your boys up at lv 3, he will murder darius as you can wall and merc his ass. one time I beat a cocky darius in lane so bad that when I had my ult up and tagged him. It was a gory orgy.

I manage to do fine against him running Phase rush Diana. Phase rush really negates his slows and allows you to play a hit/run style against him, rather than getting stacked on during the slows.

You need someone who can out-trade him I believe.

Jax, Fiora, Aatrox are all pretty good options imo.

Jax can keep his passive stacking slow with counterstrike and will definitely out-trade even if you only e auto w and Q out. Q is obviously good for jumping in/out as needed and it's very effective for denying Darius' heal off his Q, or preventing him from running when you win the trade, or keeping him from cheesing you when you lose it. You'll scale better, too.

Fiora and her vitals proccing is a bit more bursty but is definitely a good counter-matchup into Darius' whole bleed thing. You've got a good engage with her dash and a good way out if you REALLY need it, plus her riposte is just universally useful.

Aatrox has good sustain or, if you need it, good sustained damage, and he's less risk due to his passive allowing him to come back from the dead. You can hit Darius from range with his E if needed and you've got a good initiator or escape in Q to use as needed. Once you both hit six you can just beat his ass from afar.

Just play Olaf with Comet. Poke him to a certain point then all-in.

The only melee champ I have ever been able to beat him with is Taric. Taric does what Darius does better than Darius does. I just straight up pummel his face in without moving. I'm in the same boat as you for any other champ though. I have yet to beat Darius using anyone else.

Pick any champ wich can return damage to Darius after he did his combo. He is like Riven with less mbnility they both want short trade patterns for harress but will win any prolonged trade.(less so with Riven but you get what I mean) So no champs with conditional damage you want a champ who can pin them down and punch them back. Garen is actually good now against Darius since you are too tanky and if he stays in your E for too long you will deal more damage to him pre 5 stacks.

Darius is better at all inning than at short trades, try someone that can do powerful trades with him while still being somewhat safe to his all in

Depends on the champion. He gets out scaled by most so you can beat him by not trading with him at all. He kind of sucks late game because he is so slow. It takes him forever to make it to fights. He sucks at maneuvering in fights. He also can't split push worth a damn because he has no escapes and will die instantly if he gets piled on when pushed.

You don't really have to win lane to beat Darius, just survive it and outplay him by being more relevant everywhere else on the map. If you try to stand and trade with him, you are playing into his greatest strength.

Trundle is a good pick as well. Both champions will want the same things: Long trades. Trundle however wins this easily.

His Q lowers Darius' AD while improving his own. His W makes him hit faster and improves his healing. (Remember to always pop a potion when you fight.) His E helps him keep Darius with him. His R wrecks Darius completely. His passive is cool, I guess.

Trundle is a mediocre pick into darius since he has no tools to force a trade with darius. Apprehend allows easy disengages. By level 6 darius has kill pressure even through trundle ult, and by level 11 trundle cant duel darius for the rest of the game.
