I dislike Devourer + Sated

Despite Devourer granting +1 per champion takedown, Junglers on my team are too focused clearing the jungle in order to get fast stacks than helping out their lanes when they are in trouble. Now on the flipside, it is really powerful on certain champions that it's on the verge of being imbalanced. I have played against a Sated Jax , Warwick, MasterYi and it's very hard to play against them. Sure it takes a little time to ramp up and get the stacks but once it's sated, the doubled magic dmg on hit + new passive makes it impossible to duel against, especially when they have item 3153 . I do believe the Sated passive needs to be tuned where it will proc every 5 attacks instead of every 2 attacks. With the innate 50% attack speed, it's too easy to proc 2 autos especially if you use bork's active to steal their move speed for yourself. The +60 magic dmg essentially becomes +120 magic dmg every other hit and that is simply too strong against squishy targets. Every 2 atks ADDS 180 magic dmg to your attacks so you are doing both physical and magic damage which is hard to itemize against. Adding an extra 2-3 attack requirements to proc the passive will make it less punishing for the enemy to counter to even though the mixed damage from above is already strong enough. Or keep the passive but drop the doubled magic damage back to +30 on hit (it will still do +60 every other hit making every 2 atks = +90 magic dmg). It's better than just building pure AD because it is mixed damage, phy from auto, magic from devourer bonus.

So do you dislike it because its strong? Or because your allies prioritize stacking it over ganking? Or both..

Both. Especially when I had an AP Pantheon stacking it...

Also, when there are duo top lanes especially, the solo top laner gets zoned and loses tower very quickly and the duo top then roam. Perhaps I just was unlucky to have junglers who don't help.

Duo top laners? wtffff? And if your jungler is stacking his devourer, he should be taking skuds/drag which helps your team in other ways. Being a jungler.. Its kind of annoying when your team expects you to be a nonstop ganker like season 4 lee sin... Why does every1 feel that junglers are their bitch and need to play around the team? Don't take this the wrong way.. They should still cooperate with the team and play to win as one. But if ur jungler is a late game carry, don't you think its a little bit your responsibility to play safe, ward.. w.e you have to do to get to late game where your teamate can faceroll?

TL;DR Laners shouldnt expect their jungler to be super active early game with sated junglers.. They should take equal responsibility for their teams strengths and weaknesses and try to play around them.

True but sometimes you are just bullied or outplayed by your opponent and it's frustrating when the enemy jungler ganks and not your own, pushing you out of lane (losing exp, cs, possibly tower). Idk, maybe it's different in higher elos; low elo don't take objectives, put pressure on the map, secure buffs, etc. I'm against how it (unintentionally?) makes players play as well as the strength of the item Vs your team, is all.

Dreadlocks2 votes

What elo is that? Cuz im only silver 1, I find some players understand this and others dont.. Its like, why do some players understand that a champion like lee sin is extremely strong early but weaker late, and Master Yi is generally weak early strong late? If players can grasp this understanding then why not the same with items?

I get that, I do. Sometimes it helps showing your face and having presence though, ya know? It'll make them have to be wary and play safe as well instead of too aggressive.

I'm just saying, if you think you are losing games because you have an afk farmer stacking devourer, you will never climb.. As a low elo player, you will improve a lot more asking yourself "what could I have done better to increase our chances of winning" instead of pointing the finger.

Yes and no. There is only so much that I can control/influence. If it was a 1v1 game (SC2, FPS, etc.) then my success/victory would depend on no one but myself. I do acknowledge the areas that I need to improve and/or practice so I can bring something positive to the team but the same goes for everyone else as well. But yes, I understand that being self-critical is more important than being critical of others but doesn't mean that my teammates are never at fault either.

Well forsure, but chances are you make just as many mistakes as the guy ur playing with which is why ur in the same rank.

Perhaps.

Go play some ranked and see where you place.. If not to show off to your friends, you can use it as a good reference as to where u stand.

First off, there's no reason why devourer junglers shouldn't be able to gank. Its not very hard to keep the jungle mostly cleared and help out lanes that are pushed up. Sorry you're playing with such crappy junglers.

That said, you should never expect a gank. Ever. You should go into a game with the mindset that you're going to stomp your lane opponent so hard that their jungler is going to have to camp your lane. And you should be happy when their jungler camps your lane because that means your other two lanes can snowball. Just play safe and you can completely neutralize a 1v2. And who cares if they take your tower. As long as you don't feed them a bunch of kills just let the wave push to your inner turret and then freeze the wave. If they don't move onto your side of the map they lose tons of CS and exp and let you back into the game. If they do move onto your side of the map then your mid laner/jungler gets free kills.

I just played a game where my jungler was a devourer Shyvana and I got constantly camped by the enemy jungler while she just farmed a lot. I just stayed cool and farmed under tower. Their jungler wasted so much time top and only killed me one time. By the time the mid game rolled around their jungler was underleveled, both our mid and bot lanes had snowballed, and Shyvana was wrecking people with sated + BotRK.

Stay cool and don't make a bad situation worse.

Having the mindset and the gameplay actualizing don't always happen. No disrespect, but am I also to never expect the opponent to get the upper hand? Nor for the enemy jungler to gank? If I shouldn't expect mine to gank, logically I shouldn't expect theirs to gank. More often than not, ganks win games. I'm not saying that the jungler has to be constantly ganking and never farming but you seem to suggest the opposite. The Jungler should help his teammates, not himself, and he can do so by helping his late-game allies snowball early and/or shutting down enemy hyper carries.

sated + BotRK = op

I don't care that I got downvoted because players love to play what is OP/Broken/Imbalanced and when someone suggests a fix, of course they don't like that.

All I'm saying is expect the worst and you'll never be disappointed. If you haven't learned how to play defensive and play when behind then I suggest you practice that because it is a very valuable thing to learn.

I think it's kinda like the Nasus syndrome. You know, where they don't know when they should assist the team over gaining stacks. At least the item has a cap now so they won't be farming the jungle forever, unlike the Nasus with the four-digit dream.

Part of the issue is that many junglers who would build Devourer (i.e. Shyvana, Master Yi, Warwick) don't have strong early ganks anyways, typically due to lacking crowd-control or a gap-closer early.

While this doesn't mean that they can't gank, it does mean that it can be more difficult for them to gank certain lanes or champions. Unless you have seen the enemy use their escape, some lanes (such as Fizz, LeBlanc, Zed) can be very difficult to gank, especially if the enemy is close to their tower. In addition, some champions are capable of farming from a distance (most ranged champion, siege-mages, ADCs, etc) and can be difficult to gank due to their proximity to their tower and distance from your ally.

Obviously, if you see a good opportunity to gank a lane (especially in-between camps or while waiting for stuff to respawn), you should take it to help out your allies. But depending on the champion matchups and how they are played out, it can be difficult to achieve anything significant. In many cases, the most efficient use of a Devourer jungler's time early is to farm so that they can achieve their power-spikes early and begin influencing the game.

Typically, if I can't gank early I'll try to secure Scuttle Crabs and ward (either in the river or the enemy jungle) to prevent my allies from getting ganked. While I may not be able to help them win their lane, I can at least try to minimize intervention by the enemy jungler, which has the added bonus of letting me counter-gank and counter-jungle.

You seem to have a good head on your shoulders and I appreciate and value your input :)

Do you rely on your jungler to carry the game for you?
