The real reason why the game is in the current state.

So, everyone is unhappy. Unhappy with the game in its current state, since bot lane decides everything, right? I think a lot of people exaggerate, but it's quite true. So, why is the game so snowbally, why is everyone finding it hard to have impact etc?

Well, we need to see the bigger picture, the real reason. That reason is that the game is simplified. What I mean by that?

Win conditions. Different metas have different win conditions. Right now, it's snowbally ADCs. Some seasons ago, it was splitpushing (Jax for example). Another time, it was pick assassin = win game. The thing is, right now, it's very easy to devise a plan to win and everyone knows it. Take bot tower, and snowball this to win, because the advantage is big. The difference with every other meta, where people still knew how to win, is that it's so easy and safe to execute. The hardest part is taking the first tower, after that, it all comes so naturally. You play a champion that, based on its range, is safe and can constantly AA towers, as opposed to a splitpusher. And that champion also has the safety of a support. Oh, and that champion also naturally itemizes in pure damage, which makes tower taking even faster and easier. It's easy to do and there's not much counterplay to it. Apart from having champions that can waveclear to defend (Sivir), there isn't really much you can do.

Now, let's take a step back to other metas. Snowballing wasn't as hard. No first tower gold for example. Also, imagine the Jax I mentioned trying to splitpush as the meta's win condition. What if a tank gets in his face? He can't really keep AAing the tower without taking damage. He also has to do this alone, which means no support from the team, making him vulnerable to ganks. Overall, the execution is much harder. Having your strong splitpush away from the team will probably set your 4-man team in a disadvantage, or they won't have much of a lead, seeing how the splitpusher has most of it. Therefore, while Jax can sidelane and take objectives, your team runs the risky of getting engaged on and dying, throwing away all the pressure. This can't happen now, or at least happen so easily. Seeing how the strongest person (ADC) is grouped with the team even from the early stages, the lead the ADC has is also present during teamfights, so the enemy team can't really exploit something, like a strong splitpusher missing.

TL;DR: It all comes down to how easy or how hard it is to execute each meta's win conditions, and right now, the execution is simple and safe and everyone knows how to do it. Back then, you either didn't know, because there wasn't as much information, or it was harder to execute.

support is a much bigger impact on the game state than adc is right now

Thing is, if the ADC is trash, it won't make much of a difference. I've played quite a lot Janna games this season, and I can see I have huge impact and carry my ADC in the laning phase, but sometimes, the ADC is monkey enough to be useless even with such a lead, which is why I changed to Sivir and can now have more control and options.

and if support is bad adc doesn't get to play the game

I've played with quite a lot of bad supports, probably autofilled. I still managed to do my thing. Sure, I didn't stomp bot or anything, but I managed to get to a point where I know I can win. Seeing how I play Sivir, all I need to do is stall and farm, which is easy. So, regardless of the support, I can do things, because the champion empowers me to. Sure, late game teamfights might be harder, if the support doesn't actually support me, but I can still provide DPS and have hopes to win, or take towers, push etc. As a support, you can do none of these things if the damage dealer isn't competent enough. Like it or not, you can be a mechanical god, but the champion with the damage outputs matters the most, because, in the end, in order to win, you need to kill the enemies, which means you need to damage them.

Absolutely, supports are so important. Oh, and nearly always autofilled.

I'm sure all the adcs are with me when I say thanks for the autofilled supports riot. TROLLING.

Disagree with the premise of "bot lane deciding everything", at least more than is normal. The fact of the matter is that bot lane SHOULD have the most impact since it's the lane with two people per team in it. Losing that lane would obviously have a bigger impact than losing one of the solo lanes, where only one person on each team will be impacted.

RIght now there's a serious tank problem with pro teams having up to 4 tanks per team on them. This same tank problem is whats causing ADCs to be so important (since they're the only class that can really cut through tanks) and the reason that ADCs have such huge damage numbers (a lot of it is healed back by warmogs). Their strength is the main reason that assassins and burst mages are nonviable (notice that you only see sustained dps midlaners as well, such as Ryze, Cassiopeia, and Azir). Nerfing them would make assassins and burst mages a lot more viable, which in turn would create a greater challenge for ADCs.

RIght now there's a serious tank problem

This actually goes both ways. Tanks are more useful when ADs are strong themselves. Tanks provide someone to absorb damage while having multipal forms of CC to engage and/or Peel. They are basically another support of the ADC. Even Burst Mages and Zone Mages pack CC and Peel skills to also act as a Damage Support. Take Syndra. She has been one of the best mid laners over the last couple of years (I realize she isn't considered strong atm, but take last season and the one before). She has the ability to lay out damage while also peeling for the ADC using her QE combo. If a Assassin jumps her or the AD, she can kick them back stun and burst them out with the help of a Auto or two of the AD and the assassin is now popped. Karma, Galio, Lulu, Ori, Ryze, Cassi, have all been popular over the years and they all have the ability to do damage and peel for a ADC.

ADCs are what a team should center around but currently they are just hitting those spikes way to early when the lesser classes should be powerful. Specially since supports are stronger these last couple seasons then ever so we are feeling the wrath of ADCs much earlier in the game. You're right Bot should have a impact because two people are their but a lot of the time those 2 can counter out the leads of the other 3 roles which is what the problem is. The solo laners used to have to do the lifting to get the game to a point where the AD takes over, there's just no real need for that anymore so we see Tanks and Control Mages who even if behind still can do their job as the needed solo laners and junglers.

No, the thing is ADC have always been a must-have in every season because they can basically handle every single role in a team. Splitpush / Siege / Waveclear / Taking objectives / Assassination / Teamfighters / Tank killers... And this season, Rito obviously showed how they love their class. Their itemization is purely broken and can "counter" every situation (CC ? item 3139 get some AD, some MR and some lifesteal on the same item, mage is fed ? item 3156 is for you, assassin can actually burst you down ? item 3812 there you go, slow waveclear ? item 3085 item 3087, mana hungry ? item 3508, enemy stacking armor ? item 3153 item 3124 item 3036 item 3091, oh and we also reworked item 3026 so you don't actually lose this much damage for buying it)

Game is better than it ever was since I have been playing it. Been around since season 2

I'd rather simply say there is too much gold snowballing and not enough objective based snowballing. Cut gold income such that a somewhat 'fed' team isn't quite so far ahead on items that they kill the other team outright, but rather that they have an edge when contesting objectives that mean more than they currently do.

For example: Reduce first blood/kill/assist/shutdown gold by 50%. Remove Mountain Drake and bake it's bonus into all other Drake buffs. Have Rift Herald spawn sooner and have a chance to respawn again after use. Increase the health of ALL objectives (including towers). Would take the game back towards being more tactical and less bursty, but with stronger stacking objective bonuses games won't last forever.

Snowman Arc1 votes

Thing is, you need to avoid doing such huge changes, because then you can just pick a late game champion team comp and know you will get there, because snowball isn't hard enough.

Draehl1 votes

Eh, maybe, but the early game champs would be much better at taking/contesting early objectives (partly why an earlier Herald would be a good idea)

meh jungle difference is just as important as bot difference
