Using The Brutalizer to make a mana-based item?

Because the last thing we need is a strong Brutalizer upgrade that Riven/Rengar would want, right?

"Essence Reaver?"

The Brutalizer (1337) + Forbidden Idol (600) + 763 = 2700

  • +40 Attack Damage
  • +10% Cooldown Reduction
  • +100% Base Mana Regen

Unique Passive: +15 Armor Penetration

Unique Passive: Restores 4% to 10% of the damage dealt by basic attacks as Mana, based on how much Mana you're missing.

"Not Quite Essence Reaver"

The Brutalizer (1337) + Chalice of Harmony (900) + 563 = 2800

  • +40 Attack Damage
  • +25 Magic Resist
  • +10% Cooldown Reduction
  • +100% Base Mana Regen

Unique Passive: +15 Armor Penetration

Unique Passive - Mana Font: Restores 2% of your Missing Mana every 5 seconds, doubled to 4% while in combat with an enemy champion.

The first item is ~105% gold-efficient before its mana-restoring passive, and the latter is ~112% efficient before its Mana Font. For a comparison on the latter, Athene's is ~117% efficient before either of its passives.

Are either of these concepts on the right track? My line of thought was just "fuse Brutalizer with one of the two budget mana-management items", since we already have Manamune built out of Tear. It seems to be a common opinion that people want Brutalizer to build into something else besides Ghostblade and a jungle enchant, too (even though Haunting Guise doesn't build into anything besides Liandry's...) .

As I say every time I have an idea, numbers are just kinda thrown out there. Besides the gold efficiency values, which I got off the wiki.
