Feast or famine players need to be punished for not fixing their play style

This 4v5 game that we won pretty much sums up the issue.

My team has two Diamond players: myself and Riven.

The enemy team has four Diamond players, but all four of them are feast-or-famine players, meaning that they're extremely ahead or extremely behind in 9/10 of their games, and never in the middle. In this game, we got slightly ahead early, and then they basically kept inting into us, because they had absolutely no decision making skill.

This really needs to be looked into. Learning to make good decisions and play strategically should be a requirement for climbing in ranked. Players who just go balls-to-the-wall 24/7 and hope they get far enough to turn their bad plays into wins via the numbers game should not be able to reach Diamond.

One possible fix would be to give LP penalties to players who have more deaths than kills + assists in more than 70% of their losses. This is a pretty clear indicator that they're not playing intelligently.

Because that's never a valid strategy, and there are no champions that are inherently feast or famine.

Players that play poorly are punished by not climbing. If what they did was too bad to reach diamond then how the fuck would they reach diamond?

It should never be a valid strategy to do the exact same thing over and over, with no thought for whether what you're doing has any chance of succeeding.

The problem is that these players are relying on a number advantage to win, and you can gain a number advantage by any number of things: your opponent falls for some cheese, they aren't familiar with the match up, you get a kill from a level 1 invade, the enemy accidentally takes a turret shot, etc.

They didn't climb to Diamond by consistently playing well, they climbed to Diamond because there are so many external factors that can get them ahead that their individual skill/decision making isn't important.

If they don't have the number advantage, they continue doing the exact same things they would do if they did have an advantage, which results in them just feeding because it has no chance of succeeding.

And none of those things take any skill to get?

Invading level 1 is risky, requires the right champion, and is hard since you have a fraction of your necessary kit. The opponent falling for cheese (as oppose to just being cheesed) is mentally outplaying them. The opponent taking a turret shot is 99% of the time based on you fucking up their dive or you moving them into range, both of which are a mechanical outplay, and the rest of the time is them misjudging tower range, which doesn't happen past low bronze.

And they're relying on a number advantage to win because THAT'S WHAT EVERY FUCKING CHAMPION IN THE GAME DOES. The fuck else are they supposed to do? Win because they have a numerical disadvantage? They got the numerical advantage through an outplay of some kind.

And, ultimately, you're really going to tell me that sheer luck gave them a higher than 50% winrate? Into Diamond? Clearly the strategy is working just fine if they're in Diamond. If it wasn't working, they'd be in a lower rank. There's no need to punish them by making people with a large winrate lose more just because they're playing aggressively.

People misjudge turret range all the time, or expect a minion to take aggro before them. You even see it in pro play, very often.

Falling for cheese is not always 'mentally outplaying' them. There are a huge number of champions in the game, and chances are there are some match ups you've never played and aren't familiar with. If you never play against Riven, you're probably not going to be aware that she's going to ult and flash on top of you the very instant she hits 6. In season 7, 3/4 Diamond players would fall to Talon's level 2 all-in because they didn't know about it. That's not reallyo an outplay, you just have a piece of knowledge that the enemy doesn't.

Probably 1/2 of the time, especially in top lane, the match up is one where one champion just flat out wins and can't realistically lose. There wasn't necessarily any outplay involved, because one champion's kit just completely shits on the other.

If you're at a disadvantage, you play safely and wait for a mistake to capitalize on or try to catch up. These players don't do that. They continue to play exactly as if they have a number advantage, while they're at a pronounced disadvantage, **which is the entire issue this post is about. **Playing aggressively and playing stupidly are not the same thing.

I'm not sure why you're even posting, because you clearly don't understand the topic or the game very well.

And I'm not sure why you're posting either, since your post boils down to "I don't like them doing this thing that is CLEARLY working for them, so they should get LP penalties".

(Edit because I forgot stuff)

It's as nonsensical as saying "They should have LP penalties because they're using a Star Guardian skin" or "They should have LP penalties because their summoner name is a reference to a show I don't like"

There would be no one to replace them with. The next set of players down the ladder would just instafeed in 100% of games instead of 30%.
