Damaging a shield won't give an assist?

Is this true or did I just blatantly fail in some way? Is it intended? Can it be changed and will it be changed?

Damaging a shield doesn't give an assist, but don't worry! Kalista's sentinels give assists.

I've hit a Yasuo's shield, and then he got executed. Let's say you're fighting a Tahm, you get to the fight when he's got an 80% HP shield, you burt 79% of it and your team gets the kill off that. Are you really trying to argue that you don't deserve an assist. Your analogy was idiotic at best.

so you get into a bar fight with your friends and the biker dude ducks and you punch the air and he pops back up, knocks your punk ass out and your friend clocks him and makes him go sleep.

do you deserve an assist for that?

Not the same thing. It's rather "and the biker dude dodges backwards, which makes him lose his balance which allows your friend him to grab him and send him down".

applying non-damaging cc will provide an assist, such as the active of randuins. This is more like you punched him in the face and broke your hand while he laughed you off. I fail to see how damaging a shield does anything whatsoever to help secure a kill.

git gud

It takes the shield away.

D. Fucking. uh.

shield's going to go away anyway. when you punched the biker and broke your hand, then your friend punched him and broke his nose, he was successful because you loosened it for him. seems legit. git gud.

Unless the biker had a thorn-jacket, I didn't break my hand. And about the shield going away... Sion Malphite Skarner Urgot good luck waiting.

They nerfed biker thorn-jackets.

Damaging a shield should give an assist. I don't know why it didn't. It only makes sense, seeing how even non damaging things can give assists.

Title is correct.
